Nell swiped a hand across her forehead as it glistened with sweat, but gave no other signs of exhaustion. The summer heat was killer, but she had enough energy to last her. She looked around at the others, her teammates pulling at their shirts and fanning their faces. The other team was just as bad, and it seemed everyone was suffering. Still, they pushed on, using the huge expanse of lawn to their advantage. They set up their goal posts with book bags and discarded clothes, the football having been brought by one of the people who planned the game. It was halfway deflated, however, and Nell had a feeling this would end pretty soon. Her jersey stuck to her back and she was glad that she thought to wear comfortable shorts instead of denim. She pitied anyone else who made that decision. The mid-afternoon sun was not being kind, and Nell could swear she smelled the grass dying. She wouldn't be surprised, and wondered just how far her powers could extend. She wasn't the best with her element, but she worked hard enough that she had caught up to others in her class last year, making up for lost time.
One particular play was being debated, and so Nell took it upon herself once again to be referee and stood in the middle of everyone, making hand signals. "...The fuck is that?" someone on the opposing team questioned with a bland expression. She waved her hand at him. "It means you suck, we win, and someone had better thought to have brought water." It was a girl by the name of Gen who thought to provide water for the eighteen Academy students who decided to participate in the game, for which everyone was thankful. Nell finished hers off pretty quickly, covering her mouth as she burped. Now that she wasn't playing, she felt disgusting, but she had classes later and didn't want to drive back to the apartment.
She decided her best bet would probably be the lake, and she asked if anyone wanted to come with. Everyone else decided that they would hit their dorms, and Nell headed down to the water, dropping her messenger bag at the bank and kicking off her shoes, removing the socks. It felt good enough to let them breath, but she scooted closer to put her feet in the water. She wished she could swim, but she didn't really keep anything in the dorms, including a bathing suit. And she didn't think it'd be very appropriate to skinny dip. Probably would get into trouble for that. With a sigh, she flopped back in the sand, not caring that it was under her jersey or in her hair. She just needed to relax, because she was still breathing heavily from the exertion. Still, like with all exercise, she felt content. And it was fun, besides. She loved football, so she was more than happy to go along with her friends. Well, most of them were. The Earth girl didn't know everyone, even though she tried.
