`ANDREW,
”Seriously. Dude. What are we doing?” It was nearly 3am and Andrew Callahan was sitting cross-legged of the Earth’s common room. Like usual, Ashton, who, like him, had quite awful study habits, accompanied him. They took to the common room this particular evening because all the other Earth students were asleep in their respective dorms. Though all the others fit the stereotype of being laid back and kind-hearted, any Earth would turn ruthless if awoken from a pleasant slumber. Quite frankly, it wasn’t something Andrew wanted to deal with at the moment. When making this decision, he cringed at the thought. They had already gotten a crabby remark from one of the girls who passed by. Apparently they were being too loud or something. Right, as if that would ever happen.
The bright light of the laptop screen in front of him was causing his vision to get a little fuzzy. Procrastination was a high schoolers best friend and worst enemy at the same time. It was a constant love-hate relationship between the two. ”I’m not even kidding. I’ve been staring at this document for like—forever—and I swear I haven’t written more than three pages.” A history report was due the next morning—right from the instance the professor assigned it, a challenge was made to get it done the night before. At this point, it was just about the morning of. There was always the option of trying to turn it in late, but Andrew’s history teacher wasn’t always the happiest fellow. He had a feeling such a stunt wouldn’t fly. Not hearing any response from his companion, Andrew looked over towards him, weary-eyed. ”A-ashton? Damnit, if you fall asleep on me!” Without it being said, a silent pact had been made between the two to always stay up together andprocrastinate do homework. This occasion was not the first, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last.
Various drinks and snacks were scattering the floor; most of them were empty containers and wrappers, which they would unfortunately need to clean up later—whenever ‘later’ would be. A yawn escaped the boy’s mouth as he pounded out a few more sentences against the keyboard. ”Wars, s’mores—I don’t care about what happened, like, two hundred years ago!” A significant pause happened before he suddenly spoke again. ”S’moke do sound awfully tasty right now though…” Rubbing his forehead, Andrew couldn’t believe the surreal state he was in; it was a mixture of being incredibly tired, yet he wouldn’t be able to fall asleep if he had tried. Maybe it was all the Monster Energy drinks that shocked their system. Lots of caffeine would make for a rude awakening eventually.
Exasperated from all of the work, Andrew was determined to finish this paper. He had completed all of his other work—calculus, chemistry, and the like—but this task was proving to be evermore difficult. His patience waning, he closed his laptop and laid it on the table. Taking a break probably wasn’t the best decision to do at this time of night, but he was too tired to care. Plopping himself down on the couch, he lounged back against a pillow. ”How is your stuff coming? At the start of the night, the two had about the same amount of homework to do and Andrew was curious about his friend’s progress.
