The view was that of his childhood, almost unblemished by any changes in recent years. Joshua observed the mountains stretching out in front of him with a calm expression, the slightest of smiles tugging at the edge of his lips. The air was moist with the morning dew, the sunlight so bright it might have been blinding if not for the sunglasses he had donned before heading out. Sunglasses were a staple for Joshua, almost his signature. He had not bothered to check the brand when he'd lifted them from his collection of over a hundred pairs and it would only be if he removed them and glimpsed the side that he would notice they were his favourite Versaces. It seemed he gravitated toward them even when he was not entirely intending to. They provided a welcome shield from the brightness and he easily moved higher up the mountain path, looking to reach the low, flat peak to get a better look at the area around him. He'd come up into the mountains alone today, simply to think and to clear his mind. The talk with Devin left him with a lot of thinking that he needed to do. Having his skeletons released from the closet as they had been unsettled the Fire graduate.
Still, it was rather hard to feel upset when he was surrounded by the nature of his youth and warmed by the sun beating down upon him. Like all Fires, Josh thrived in the summer and the heat that came with it. He tried to stay out of the shade as much as possible so that the rays could soak into his skin, a task that became easier as he reached a rockier part of the mountain and the foliage thinned out. "Perfect," said the graduate softly, nodding to himself. Yes, it was a perfect place to stop and take a breather. He'd left for the trails very early that morning and had been hiking for a few hours at least. He didn't have any real destination in mind and so he'd looped back over his own path a few times and started over again. Now he was at a comfortable place and he shrugged the pack from his shoulders, leaning it against a rock which he then took a seat upon. Joshua tipped his head back and closed his eyes, still shaded by the sunglasses, expression unreadable but mood content. Though he'd come up here with the intent to clear his thoughts about the gang, he found that they were not on his mind at all.
Turning his attention back to the bag at his feet, Joshua tugged a water bottle and a sandwich from within it, figuring it was best to get his energy up for the rest of the hike. He didn't know how much longer he planned to stay out but he recognised his thirst and didn't want to risk dehydration. He had a stronger tolerance for heat than most thanks to his elemental affiliation but his body still needed water to survive. He wasn't immortal, after all, and he really didn't want to test his limits out here in the middle of nowhere. He didn't seem to be getting a cellphone signal and so he was on his own for the time being. Not that it worried him. It wouldn't have been the first time he went out alone and told no one of his whereabouts. He did hope his fiancée didn't worry about him but figured he'd be home before she got back from work or wherever it was she'd went.

It Had to be the Perfect day, Which it was, The perfect combination of sunshine and light. Jewel Couldn't help but want to go somewhere, so as normal, she left her dorm room and just walked out. She Loved doing that, Just random hikes and trips made her blissful, as long as she had control of where she was going. She hated being forced somewhere, to do something she didn't want to do. It was one of her pet peeves. She smiled as she skipped along some random path, stirring up dirt, leafs and pebbles as she skipped. Her face was full of glee and happiness. This Path she was one seemed to be leading up some mountain, not that she really cared where she was going, the journey was just as good as the destination to her, a mystery.
She stopped when she noticed a large tree, not sure what it was, but she knew it was tall, large, and climbable. That's all she cared about. She felt a smirk creep up on her face, her small bag she had slung over her shoulder was gone within seconds, since she threw it up on a branch and walked over to the trunk, finding herself running her hand over it. Some times she wondered why she was a Wind and Not a Earth, Or Water, Or Fire, since she loved all three of them just as much if not more. She loved warm places, She loved swimming, and she Expectantly loved trees and climbing them, Maybe that was because she felt slightly like a bird, not that she could fly but that she was near their homes. Birds were interesting things, They were so small and frail, yet they had some of the most complex body designs. They also had the most power of all animals, They were the only ones who could use a windless sky and still launch themselves into the air and go anywhere.
She started digging though her bag once she was up in the middle of the tree, pulling out On of her Nergels((Those bunnies with the mustaches)) And put it on her lap, looking though some open branches. She could pretty much see Maple Hollow from here, and the school. Only a few more months and it would be time to go back, she honestly didn't like school though. It was difficult for her. She so lost in though that she didn't realize, she had been there for almost a hour. So she was quiet surprised when she heard someones voice, she almost fell out of the tree she jumped so much, causing the branch she was on to lose some leaves. She looked down and noticed some guy who was drinking some water and pulling out things from his back. He looked a lot older than her, but she couldn't help herself, she wanted to mess with him. She looked down at the ground slightly, smirking and there was a sudden small breeze changing directions towards him, all the leafs that had fell blowing towards him and hitting him square in the back. She couldn't help but giggle as she did, trying to keep her voice low, doubting he would see her in the tree

Despite the heat, the water had remained a decent temperature when kept in the bag that was specially made for trips like these. He'd purchased it at the sporting goods store the last time he'd wanted an impromptu trip into the trails and it had served him well this time, too. He resisted the urge to pour it onto his face, knowing that he should probably conserve his water supply just in case. He didn't think he was in any danger but that didn't mean he would simply throw caution to the wind. There's plenty of streams. I'm sure I'd be fine, but... But he wasn't the type of person to take risks like that unless there was a little more certainty. He could track down one of the streams or rivers later and splash some of the water over himself to keep cool. If he didn't find one, it was only a minor loss. He loved the heat a lot more than the average person anyway. Screwing the cap back onto the bottle, Josh tucked it back into his bag beside the other two sandwiches and second water bottle he'd brought along, not intending to stay out here for a full day and so not needing too much sustenance.
His phone buzzed in his pocket, the vibrations alerting him to a message despite the fact that he'd turned the ringer off. In case it was Nell he pulled it from his pocket, discovering instead that it was a text from his sister, asking him where he was and if she could stay at her friends a little later. He recalled her asking him to pick her up at noon and had planned to cut his trip short enough to meet this demand, never one to intentionally let his sister down. He texted back asking her how late she intended to stay and confirmed his approval when she assured him that it would only be a few more hours. That gives me some time to rest up at home before I go out again, he thought. He was a high-energy person, thriving on being kept busy, but he'd been on his feet since dawn and knew it would be good for him to take a break and unwind at home. He'd probably spend the hour or so reading rather than sitting around idly, however, because to sit and stare at the walls was a waste of time he was not alright with under most circumstances. The preoccupation of his phone made him oblivious to the presence of another. That is, until they decided to make themselves known.
He did not think anything odd about the gust of wind, not one to jump to bizarre conclusions. He stood up and brushed the leaves from his shirt, frowning, and would have sat back down for another five minutes if not for the giggle catching his attention. It would be apparent to Jewel that she'd alerted him by the way that he frowned and glanced in the direction of the sound, though Joshua at first saw nothing but the landscape around him. "Hello?" Not entirely satisfied that he would get an answer, Joshua paced toward the tree where the intruder was hidden and it was at this point that he noticed a splash of colour that did not match the verdant foliage. He did not seem particularly irritated when he realised there was a girl hiding in the tree but nor did he seem amused. "Excuse me," he said, with an air of level patience, "but what exactly are you doing?" Had she been spying on him? He wasn't sure. He still didn't realise that she was an elemental, for they were outside of school and it would make little sense for him to conclude this.

Jewel's giggling must have been louder than she though cause seconds later He was talking to her and asking what she was doing. He looked slightly annoyed but she just smiled more, oh well, gigs up. She didn't get out of the tree, instead she slung her legs over the branch and was hanging upside down, having him not realize but she was using a slight breeze to keep her balanced. She smirked and gave him a slight wave "Hi there!" she said cheerfully, her face with its normal gleam or cheer and joy. She was just a naturally happy person and no one could change that about her.
She smiled at him still as her unnaturally bright hair hung in the air as she was sitting upside down, enjoying the feeling of all the blood in her body rushing to her head. It was a funny feeling and it made her feel fuzzy inside, almost a comfortable fuzziness. "What am I doing?" she asked back at him simply, in her simply sweet as honey voice, he couldn't know she had made the leaves hit him so as far as this guy knew, she was just a normal little 15-teen year old awkward child in a tree. Nothing not normal. She playfully looked around then back at him "Well I happen to be hanging in a tree, kinda like a kid money. What are you do?" she asked, giggling, slightly again. She pulled herself back up, sitting normally. She moved a few branchs so he could see her in the tree "Care to come up?"

She certainly seemed oblivious to his lack of amusement as she smiled at him and gave her greeting, all while hanging upside down from an overhead branch. What a strange kid. Was she a child? It was often hard to tell from appearance but her attitude suggested as much. What would a kid be doing out here, though? It certainly seemed strange. He didn't return her smile. Joshua was not scowling and his demeanour was not threatened but he certainly wasn't as giddy as she was. He was not a miserable person, not unpleasant, but he was not one who often smiled. He reserved his outward expressions of cheerfulness for friends and for family, most especially for Nell, in whose presence he found it hard to stop smiling.
He found himself mildly irked by the way she repeated his words, assuming that she was going to turn them around on him in mocking. However, she surprised him by giving a childish but much more literal answer than he'd been expecting. The surprise did not register on his face, Josh merely blinking at her. "Yes, I can see that," he remarked. He wondered how it could possibly be comfortable to hang upside down as she was but didn't make any inquiry. "What is it that you found so funny? I heard you laughing." He wondered whether she truly had been watching him or whether it was paranoia he was experiencing. She seemed childish, maybe a squirrel in the tree had caught her attention and made her laugh.
Joshua answered her question calmly and honestly. "Hiking." He didn't bother to elaborate, not feeling that he needed to. He hadn't been hiking when she'd distracted him but he'd been about to resume his journey and so figured it counted anyway. "I think I'll stay where I am," he said doubtfully when she practically invited him into the tree. He had climbed trees a lot in youth and certainly hadn't forgotten how to but it took a rather large tree to support him, being that he was six foot three and thus needed widely spaced branches to safely traverse the limbs. Not only that, but he hadn't come out here with the intent of climbing trees. Nor had he expected to meet anyone out here. "We're rather far out. What are you doing here?" He hadn't seen anyone else, though he felt inclined to ask, "Are you with anyone?"
