The Fire graduate glanced around warily before he allowed a pulse of heat to wreath out across his skin, driving the cold away and melting several flakes of snow before they could even hope to land on his jacket or in his hair. Being a Fire elemental, Joshua's natural body heat adjusted itself to the frigid outdoor temperatures, and within a minute or two of starting down the street he was as warm as if it had been a mid-summer afternoon. He was not going too far and decided not to chance the icy roads. Even with the snow tires that marred the sleek appearance of his car, he did not want to wreck the Lamborghini thanks to a foolish mistake. Walking was not too bad as long as the sidewalks were paved and in this neighbourhood they were quite adept at keeping up their roads and walkways. Despite his own warmth, Joshua could see his breath misting in the air in front of him as he walked and the air that he sucked in to replace it was a shock of cold to his lungs.
Ever the reliable sight, the Tim Hortons on the corner of one street was a welcome respite from the winter weather. He brushed the dusting of flakes from his coat and pulled his wallet out from his pocket, tugging a blue-coloured five dollar bill to pay for his extra large coffee. Pocketing the change, Josh chose not to remain inside of the rather packed coffee shop and continued on down the road. He was heading to the bookshop in order to pick up an order he'd placed days ago. He ducked inside of the door, greeted instantly by the smell of books both old and new. He lingered for a moment on the threshold, enjoying the familiarity and how it reminded him of his library. He sometimes missed it since moving in with Nell but it was a fair enough compromise when he considered it was either living in a mansion or having his fiancée nearby. He loved the extravagance and comfort of his parents' home but he loved Nell more. "Hello," he greeted the woman behind the desk. "I'm here to pick up an order—Joshua Dale?" The woman nodded and went into a back room. Through the open door he could see her peering at a number of packages on shelves, one of which she grabbed and then returned to him.
After paying for his order and tucking the package under his arm, Josh paused outside of the shop to get his bearings and figure out what he wanted to do next. He could always return to the apartment but he was not sure what he would do when he got there. There was always his fiancée—even the thought tugged his lips into a gentle smile—but he was pretty sure that she was busy today. I'll see her tonight. Living together had its perks. He was debating on whether or not he'd call up one of his friends when he saw one of them across the street from where he stood. Pleasantly surprised, Joshua shifted his coffee so it balanced precariously on the wrapped books and greeted her with an amiable wave. Taking the cup back into his grip, he sipped it and made sure there were no cars on the road before he jogged across. "Allison, I didn't expect to run into you," he said truthfully. "What brings you to the Hollow on this god-awful winter day?" He was only joking about how bad the day was but it was very hard to tell thanks to his serious tone and expression. He got like that sometimes. "I was just picking up some things for myself." He nodded to the books in explanation.

OutfitAllison had been up most of the night thanks to a power cut that left her in silence and in the dark. Her mp3 died and was meant to be on charge however that wasn’t going to happen with the power cut luckily she had full power on her cell to quietly listen to the music on there. As soon as the slightest bit of daylight seeped through Ally’s curtains she swung them open to embrace the slowly rising sun. Humming to the tunes on her cell she swung open the doors to her wardrobe and pulled out clothes after clothes. These clothes were each tried on in front of her mirror until she felt satisfied with her choice. She settled with a pair of Dark blue jeans and a white and black stripy top and grabbed her new black boots pulling them on and tying them up. She had decided she was going into town today to do a bit of shopping.
Ally walked to her apartment door grabbing her fluffy collared purple coat after running a hand through her curly black hair. She slipped her coat on and wrapped it tight around herself to keep warm on this cold winter day. She then grabbed her bag and purse which was rested on the hallway floor not before making sure she had her bank cards and money in there. She usually took her cards and money out at night and hid them, one of her paranoia’s. Lastly she grabbed her keys before exciting her flat and making her way to the town.
Once there Allison spent the whole morning walking from music store to electronic store back to music store. She had finally bought a dozen more music cd’s to keep her entertained. Along with a small little battery powered radio along with a few clothes as she walked into her favourite fashion shops. She was just leaving Starbucks after getting a cinnamon hot chocolate to warm her hands up when she saw someone waving at him. She squinted as she looked across the road at the person waving at her trying to work out who it was. As soon as he started jogging across the road Allison recognised him as her close friend Josh. She had been friends since her third year at the school when she bumped into him in the hall way which just started them off talking and they have been friends since. She smiled and waved back as he got closer. ”Josh. Fancy seeing you here stranger. I didn’t expect to see you either. Feels like it’s been ages since I last saw you. “ Ally nodded as she thought about when she last saw him. ”Ahhh me. Couldn’t sleep last night. Power cut so was stuck in the silence. So got up early and been shopping all day got a new radio along with some new tunes.” She laughed gently as she looked at the weather that was easing gently. She then saw as he nodded towards the books and smiled. ”Ooooo very nice books. No Nell?? How are you two? Been a long time since we talked.”
[That’s absolutely fine I said they have known each other since Allison’s third year at the school.]

The longer Joshua knew a person, the more comfortable around them he became. The Fire graduate was genuinely relaxed as she returned his greeting and remarked on the unfortunate fact it had been a while since they'd last hung out. "Ah, so it has been," he agreed. He felt somewhat apologetic but did not apologise—he hardly ever did. He was too proud of a person to waste his dignity apologising over every little thing. He'd save it for when he did something really wrong. Instead, he explained, "I've been quite busy." It was not meant to be an excuse, merely something to give her an idea of why he hadn't arranged to meet in person. He always sent texts or dropped phone calls to his friends to keep in touch, even if he wasn't able to visit them. He was not exactly what you could call a social butterfly so Josh cherished those that had stuck with him and all his faults through the years. Contrary to some, Josh knew how difficult a person he could sometimes be. He might not apologise for his abrasive personality but he'd make it up to a friend by offering his silent and subtle loyalties. "That bites," he sympathised when she said she'd been unable to sleep, nodding. He could understand that. He'd suffered bouts of transient insomnia thanks to stress in the past. It had gotten better lately and he found he could sleep through the night now in most cases.
Though Joshua was not as passionate about music and records as someone like Lark or Allison that did not mean he had no appreciation for them, and his lips curved into a brief smile as she detailed him on what it was she'd been doing. He figured that he must have missed the power cut due to being asleep. Having no light was not really a problem for a Fire elemental but the lack of electricity would have been a pain for him and Nell, he assumed. Neither was a Thunder and unlike the mansion, there were no backup generators to rely on. He imagined his parents had been perfectly comfortable and had access to all their power. Sometimes he envied the fact that he no longer had such luxuries but it had been a willing sacrifice. "Must have missed it myself. Not that I'm complaining about that. What sort of 'tunes' did you get?" Joshua's favourite band was The Strokes, though he was far from some indie asshole that thought their little 'obscure' band was the best thing since sliced bread. The Strokes weren't all that obscure anyway, he didn't see what all the fuss was about sometimes. Music was music.
It used to confuse and baffle him when people always assumed he'd be with Nell but he was used to it now and took it in stride with a light laugh. "Not today, no," he confirmed, in case Ally thought she was nearby and just up to some shopping of her own. For all Josh knew, she could have been—he did not keep obsessive tabs on her all hours of the day. When Allison inquired about their well-being, though, he couldn't help but reply with a simple, "Engaged." It wasn't so much of a mood as an announcement but he found he was rather proud to tell his friends this little tidbit about himself. Josh was a very private and secretive person and he did not publicise much about himself but an engagement was something to be happy about. He loved Nell and Ally knew that he was with her so the fact that the girl now had a ring on her finger and Josh was engaged to her was just like an upgrade. "It's part of the reason I've not been around much, to be honest. Normally I'd have kept in touch a lot sooner. What's life been like for you?"
