Nell packed up her bag as she heard the bell ring from its place in the tower, marking the end of her experimental psych class. She waved and made small talk with her friends as they shuffled out, a lot of them leaving for the day since it was early afternoon. She would be leaving, as well, but first she had to speak to the professor of the class, an older gentleman with a handlebar mustache she wondered how he managed. She touched a finger hand to her upper lip, glad that she didn't have to worry about facial hair management. She already had to worry about picking out clothes for the day before coming to school, though she was starting to get lazy near the end of the year. For instance, today she opted to wear an over-sized sweatshirt showing off one of her sports team (most of her clothes were either sports or bands, mostly by coincidence) with a pair of jeans and sneakers. She would have to be dressing nice for work tonight, though she didn't know if she considered her uniform actually, nice.
Taking a moment to brush a loose strand of hair behind her ear, she shrugged the bag onto her shoulder and approached her professor's desk with a thin folder. "A little early, I know. But considering that I didn't have anything else for the class to do, I figured I'd knock it out. Are you feeling better?" She tilted her head, brown eyes warm with her usual concern. Her professor had been out for a while thanks to pneumonia, and she'd heard through the grapevine that he'd been hospitalized. He took her folder with a smile, and said, "Thank you, Ms. Shepherd. And yes, I'm doing a lot better now."
Nell grinned when she heard her old name, even chuckled a little. "Good to hear," she told him, certainly relieved to find that he didn't have any long-lasting afflictions. Or maybe he did -- she supposed she wouldn't know considering the level of their relationship certainly was not personal. "And it's Mrs. Dale now...actually," she said with one of her half-smiles and the professor blinked, looking down at her hand as if noticing the rings on her finger for the first time. The Earth elemental always felt a surge of pride and excitement when she could introduce her as such, not Ms. Shepherd but Ms. Dale. Josh's wife. She didn't think that excitement would ever go away. Her professor shook his head."Don't I miss a lot when I'm sick?" She laughed in return, reassuring him that he'd get used to it. She left, walking through the hallways and praying that she could find her way out without having to find one of her friends and tell them to guide her.
She tilted her head, noticing a cute-looking girl around her height, but certainly not her age. Nell pinned her as a high schooler, and her features instantly brightened. Approaching, she gave a little waggle of her fingers. "Hey there, you're looking a little lost," she said, a smile stretching over her face. It was something she could sympathize with, even after three years of attending the Academy. She still got lost. "Can I help you out? I'm Nell by way. An Earth graduate." Maybe it wasn't the best idea for her to be helping someone with directions, but she really liked helping people and she could at least tell people in theory everything she knew about the Academy. Maybe it wasn't as much as other college students her age, but it was enough. Besides, she couldn't let this -- tenth grader, maybe? she wasn't sure -- wander around as she went home to work on papers before heading to the casino.

Being new to a town and a school was so difficult because Mika didn’t know anyone. She didn’t have any friends and she had no clue what people here would be like. She had already figured that water elements students would be somehow like her. With their personality and she knew that earth elements students could be her friends and even wind elements, which her father so happened to be one of them. As for the other two she really had no clue and the reason why was she didn't even know how to tell people apart from there element. Looking at Mika someone could tell that she was just a happy young girl that was really it.
So since she was so new to the Academy she had decided to look around. Maybe try and find some of her classes. She wasn't really sure if she would be able to and after a while of walking around. Mika had made the decision that she was lost in the building. This really wouldn’t be that scary if she knew where there was an exit. Then she could just go outside and walk back to her dorm. But for now she was just walking down halls and past doors with no clue where she was.
Mika was hoping that she would bump into a teacher; she figured they would know where she was supposed to go or where she could find a way out of this maze. She heard someone speaking a girl well not a girl but woman made it seem too old like so Mika decided on lady would be a better word. Or maybe young adults anyway she smiled over at the girl as she looked up at her. "Yeah I guess it kind of easy to tell that I am" she said as she looked at the girls outfit. It seemed to be simple and not very girly at all which was fine. Mika outfit always had a cute girly side to them. Though she never wore a lot of maybe just eye liner and it was only on the top of the eye. She never really needs a lot of make to begin with.
This girl was older than her Mika could tell just how the way she stood and talk like she knew the school and how to get out of this maze place. "Yes please, I'm new here and I wanted to looking around the place but doing so I seemed to have gotten myself lost in the process" she said sighing lightly and then looking over at the girl. Mika smiled brightly this was the first person that she was meeting. It was so exciting she was all bubbly inside. "I'm Mika, or you can call me MiMi if you like some of my friends call me that" she said looking at her. So she was older and married.
Mika noticed the ring when she looked down at the girl’s hand. She wondered how old she was. Nell didn't look like she was in her 30's for 40's so she must got married at a young age. Mika figured Nell must really trust whoever the guy is but it really wasn't her place to say she was just thinking of it to herself. "I'm a water element but I am always a freshman in high school so I don't really know what my element does or what I can down with it" she paused for a second frowning lightly. It sucked that she couldn't really figure out the whole element things. And it was going to take time and she knew that but she just wanted to learn something cool and interesting. "What can you do with your element" she said smiling up at her like the frown had just disappeared so quickly.

Nell realized it was probably a good thing that she had found the girl first instead of someone who might have wanted to haze the poor thing. She imagined that it was worse here than it may have been any other place, considering the elemental damage that could be cause. In any case, she felt instantly protective over this stranger, possibly because she had that innocent look about her. That, and Nell absolutely adored the kiddos. She would be hugging them a lot more if she didn't understand that it would be crossing many boundaries, and possibly creepy. Even though she didn't look it, she had been introduced to a word that best described people who loved children in the creepy way -- pedophiles. And she was definitely not in that group of people.
She kept her friendly smile, hand on the strap of her bag. While she did have work to do, it came second to people she deemed to be in need. "Only because I've had that same expression many times before," she said with a very light and airy tone. The Earth elemental would have liked to tell this girl that she had grown out of it. But that would be a lie, and she wasn't in the habit of doing that. "And you know, a lot of other people around here. This place is huge." She put extra emphasis on the last word, making a gesture with her hands as if to encircle the castle. Getting lost here was possibly the worst experience, though Nell had gotten lost in her own home before. She didn't openly admit that to many people, however, and not only because she didn't talk about herself often. It wasn't something to go bragging about.
Noticing how the girl sighed, Nell tilted her head. There weren't many people in the halls now, thankfully, and they could talk without worry about being boulders in a current of hassled teenagers. Everyone had places to be, and usually they didn't enjoy being held up unless they wanted to be late. "Don't be hard on yourself. If you don't get lost in this place at least once, you're either a cartographer or the messiah." The girl might not have even been to upset about it, but Nell felt the need to tell her that, just in case she was thinking about it. The Earth elemental's number one concern would always be other people's feelings and their well being. There was nothing above that, not even herself. It wasn't a healthy way of thinking, but it was her way of thinking. And since this girl had her protective instinct triggered, she would tell her whatever she thought she needed to hear. Nell attached herself to people very quickly.
The girl introduced herself as Mika, and she nodded her head, looking as if she'd cataloged this information for future reference. Mika. A cute name to go with the cute face. "I like Mimi, think I'm going to call you that," she said with her usual good humor. Mimi went on to say her element. And Nell realized, even if she was a Thunder or a Fire, she would still help her. Nothing beyond that for both of their safety, but enough to let her know what's going on and that it wasn't a good idea to talk to hang around people outside of their element. "Oooh, Water. I love Water elementals! You can do a lot of cool stuff. One day you might even be able to manipulate ice." She only knew of one person who could, and that was her aunt. The woman only brought bad thoughts, so she didn't follow that train of thought. "I suppose right now you're just learning how to move it, huh?" She'd never been in the ninth grade, actually, and had started as a twelfth grader, doing a lot of supplementary work. She didn't miss those days.
Nell shifted her feet, and let her weight settle on one leg so she didn't tire from standing in the same place, lifting her eyes up so she could think about her answer. "Well, I can manifest my element..." she trailed off, touching a hand to Mimi's hair, tucking the flower that appeared there behind her ear. It was a cream color, matching her dress. "Right now I'm working on stone manipulation. It's...going okay." Maybe 'okay' was too liberal a word. But she was determined to get better. She was always determined to get ahead, because she felt like she was always falling behind everyone else. It wasn't a nice feeling. "Where were you headed?" she asked Mika, wondering if the young Water student had a destination. It would suck if she was missing a class right now.

"I'm just so happy that ran into you. Or I would have been lost forever" she said smiling brightly as she twirled around. This was the first person that she had met in the school. And it was so exciting even though Nell was so much older than her it was just nice to know that there was hope and that she would not be alone at this school that Mika would find friends and people would be friendly towards her. "You are the first person I met and it is just so excited to meet someone new" she said giggling as she fixed her bag and then looked up at the girl.
She nodded her head lightly, Mika was always hard on herself it was from her father. He always pressured his children to do the very best that they could do. Sometimes it did not always work well. She wasn't an A student like her father would have wanted but she was a person that always saw the good in anyone. Even when it was hard to, Mika like to think that everyone had some good in them and there was no need to worry about the bad stuff in life. "So have you got lost at this school a lot?" she said looking up at the girl.
Just hearing her element and finding out what she could do some day was exciting to her and brought a smile onto her face. "Yeah well I need to have some kind of water around me to be able to do anything with it but if I focus hard enough I can make bubbles which are so cute and little. I cannot wait until I can older and learn more" she said jumping up and down a little from excitement as she watched Nell.
Her eyes widen a bit as she felt the flower against her hair. "Amazing" she said slowly as she moved and hugged Nell lightly. "We can be friends now" she said looking up at the girl. Mika didn't really think Nell would mind the hug. She seemed like a nice lady. She pulled away after a bit. "Oh no I was just looking around the school to see what it was like here” she said.

This girl certainly seemed like a ray of sunshine. It was nice to see that, refreshing. The energy of others tended to rub off on her, and so her smile was bright. "Glad to be a hero," she said lightly. It would suck to be lost forever, but it was something that the Earth graduate felt very conscious of whenever she got lost. She had to eventually give up when she got lost in her own house before, ending up sleeping on the floor. Any other thoughts were cast aside with a constant droning in her head about just how adorable Mika was. "You'll be meeting lots new people soon, don't you worry. Your element has to be the friendliest." She waved her hand as if dismissing the idea that Mika wouldn't be able to make it. She adored the Waters, they were the big jokers of the Academy.
On the question of getting lost, Nell scratched the back of her head. The matter of her directional issues was one that ended up being discovered about her when she got someone lost with her while pretending to know directions. Pride could be a killer. She didn't think it would be potentially dangerous for Mika, however. This place had once been her home and her sanctuary. Now she had a real home, and it was nice to think of that. "Yeah, I have," she said through a chuckle. "Still do! But I promise not as much anymore." The last part came out quickly, realized how she had made that sound. She frantically waved her hands in front of her as if to defend this claim, and though honest she felt a little bad. She could write a book about the places she got lost in.
She listened while the girl went on about her element, completely invested. She's Annabel's age, isn't she? Nell was thinking they could possibly meet and hit it off. They would make a cute pairing, but she adored Annabel and loved Mika already. And just how adorable she was with jumping up and down. It made the older girl laugh, her arms crossed over her chest. "For now, bubbles are pretty sweet," she said, her form of praise. "Have you had any success at you know, moving it longer distances." She moved her hands, gestured around as if to mime a Water student with their water. She actually didn't know exactly what ninth graders worked on, never having been one herself -- she just knew a bit from Annabel and her first year at the Academy.
Nell felt a pang in her chest. This is bad for my health, isn't it? She didn't do well with cute things, they overwhelmed her and caused her to short out. "Definitely! I love making friends. And it is definitely good to have older friends." Older people on her side would definitely protect her should any upperclassman want to haze her. It wasn't too big a problem, but Nell was sure there would be someone. "Cool. Let me be your guide! I can show you the library and mess half, if you haven't been there yet." She figured those were the top places to visit. "You wanna get going?" She nodded her head over her shoulder as if to direct her to wherever they would be going.
