He might have looked like he was meditating as he sat cross-legged with his back to the lake but in reality he was simply showing his newly acquired skills off to a friend. "Totally impressive," she sniped sarcastically, raising her eyebrows as she leaned against a nearby tree. "I can feel the earth shaking beneath my boots." The Water wasn't exactly the most chipper company but her attitude didn't bother Ashton at all. He tended to be tolerant of his friends and he understood that she didn't mean it or anything. At least he thought she didn't, and that trust was enough to sustain him. "You're not wearing boots." He grinned as she rolled her eyes at him. "I haven't even done anything yet! Just watch." He'd found that it took a great deal of concentration to make the earth shake and so he made sure to build up carefully to the use of his power. The last thing he wanted was to wind up passed out in the medical wing because he overestimated how much stamina he'd built up over the years. "Here goes..."
For the first couple of seconds, nothing happened. His friend snickered from her place by the tree and started to take a few steps away from it. "Yep, I feel it in my bones. You're super powerful." Then she shrieked with alarm as the ground beneath her did begin to vibrate, a decent-sized rift just small enough that she wouldn't fall into it opening up right next to her. Ashton was a friendly guy but that didn't mean he wouldn't tease someone right back if they pulled his leg enough. "I'm going to say it, I told you so~!" She glared at him for a moment but then broke the facade with a smile and shook her head, patting his. "All right, Ashy, you win." He laughed and leaned away from her, green eyes bright. "Not a dog, Dee, I am not a dog." Stamina and strength drained from the effort it had taken to execute his little joke, Ashton lay back in the grass and slowly exhaled. "Just don't ask me to do it again." He laughed again after he spoke. He was always laughing, always smiling, a relatively cheerful guy all around.
"Much as I'd love to torture you some more, Ash, I have a class to get to," Dee told him, already striding off. "See ya later." Her abrupt departure didn't offend or alarm him and he slowly sat up and tried to collect his energy. Damn, that had taken quite a bit out of him! He pulled a snack bar out of his pocket, a little melted but still good, and took a bite of it as he considered what he could do next. He'd learned from his mistakes when talking to Takeru and he was glad he'd taken the older graduate's advice in carrying around food for those times of stamina drain. It really did help boost his energy back up a little. Standing up with only a brief spell of dizziness to hinder him, Ashton decided that a walk around the gardens might be relaxing enough to help his energy build further. He didn't have any elemental classes later, thank goodness, but he did have work and he didn't want to be asleep on his feet when he dragged himself through the doors of the shop. And what a better time than now to ask for the company of a friend? He texted his friend Stella with a cheerful:
Stella~ You should come hang out by the gardens! I'm bored .-. We could get up to something fun!
He tacked on a smiley face for good measure, for it always felt weird to send texts without some form of emoticon to convey his mood, and then sat down on a bench as he waited for her to either reply, show up, or both.

It was astonishing what this guy named Hitler could do to a bunch of poor people. As Ella read and deciphered the contents of her history book, she gasped, cringed and even teared up. In history, they were learning about World War II, and one of the major figures were Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. The blonde heard the name before, it rang a bell, however, she never knew what exactly he did. All she knew was that he was a bad guy from Germany who died in a war. This was the first time she was learning about the evil sins he committed. Surprisingly, Stella was understanding what the history book was explaining pretty well. There were only a few words she needed to look up in the dictionary.
The library was silent except for a the quiet noises of pages turning, the occasional shuffle of moving books, and Ella’s gasping. ”Shut up!” someone hissed at her from somewhere behind a shelf full of books. ”I-I’m sorry! Have you learned about these Nazi people though?!” she whispered back in pure shock. ”They are horrible!” she continued, shaking her head. She heard the person sigh and put a book on a shelf with some force. ”oh… I’m sorry I made you-“ she tried apologizing, but the person interrupted her rather rudely. ”This is a library.” the female voice emphazised the word library. ”You are supposed to be quiet, because it is a library.” the girl from behind the shelves said with agitation obvious in her voice.
Ella opened her mouth to apologize again, but her cell phone buzzed on the table. The hard table interacting with the vibrating of her cell phone cause a very loud and obnoxious noise that echoes throughout the room. Stella’s cheeks flushed red and she automatically shut her history book and her dictionary. She looked behind her, looking toward the source of the angry voice, and she was met with an angry pair of dark brown eyes oring holes into her. Ella did not even need words to understand what she was trying to tell her. ”I’m going…” she whispered, putting her bag over her shoulder, scooping up her books and grabbing her cell phone. The little blonde scurried past the grumpy female with those deep brown eyes, and exited the library.
She read the text that came in and smiled a little bit. It was Aston, telling her to meet him in the gardens.
okay, I’m on my way, mister! I needed to take a break from studying anyways~!
Stella sent the text and made her ways towards the gardens. Warm August air greeted the earthie as she opened the doors and made her way across the green. She spotted Aston’s familiar head of brown hair, and skipped a bit toward him. Skipping was hard with a hand full of thick books. ”Ashton!” she smiled, greeting him with a wave of her free hand. She set her books down and took her bag off setting it by the base of the tree. ”I see you were busy here!” she giggled a little bit, looking at the small opening in the ground. It was cool to see what a powerful and trained Earth could do. Eventually, she would be able to do that. But for now, she knew she was just going to stick to growing flowers and leaves.

His phone buzzed in his pocket and Ashton pulled it out to read the text that had been sent to him, smiling when he saw that it was Stella's reply. It seemed that he was indeed going to have company for the afternoon, a prospect which delighted him. He noticed the fact that she also used a smiley in her reply to him and the observation caused him to chuckle. Deciding to wait as opposed to replying, Ashton closed out of the text and settled for playing games instead, a task which he was still focused on when Stella approached. It was not until she called out that he jumped slightly, laughing at himself as he abandoned the game without any qualms for having lost and slid the phone back into his pocket where it arguably belonged. "Hey Ella!" His greeting was cheery and enthusiastic as he got up from the bench and waited for her.
He glanced at the rift in the ground when she indicated it and looked sheepish. "Oh, that." He hadn't forgotten it was there, no, his mind had merely been focused on other things. Scatter-brained might have been a bit of a stretch but his attention span wouldn't be winning any awards any time soon. He directed his green gaze back toward her. "I was just practising my powers and stuff!" He paused, then admitted while ducking his head, "Whiiich was kind of a bad idea, now that I think about it! I'm so tired and blah." Despite being 'blah', as he described it, he was still very animated and chipper as he rocked back and forth on his heels. A restless guy, he couldn't help the desire to get up to something with a friend. When it came to sitting around to avoid work he could be one of the laziest people on the planet but when he wasn't trying to avoid something undesirable he had a lot of energy to spend. Most of it had been wasted on the mini quake but some of it stubbornly remained. "It worked, though!" Silver lining. He was tired but earthquakes were awesome... so long as they didn't destroy lives or buildings or anything like that. Speaking of... "Oh, but I hope no one trips over that... I'd try and close it but knowing me I'd probably try too hard and pass out!" At least he kind of knew his limits.
... Kind of.
The entrance to the gardens changed periodically based on which Earth elemental came around and decided to mess with it. It was not often that it went more than a week without being tweaked and fiddled with, much like the rest of the gardens. They were practically a maze of ever-changing colours and shapes, flowers of every species and size to behold. He loved the variety and how it felt like home. Today the entrance was rather simple, the wooden lattice-work archway covered in roses. Perhaps someone had just learned to create the popular flowers and had decided to profess their skill to the rest of the school by redecorating? He didn't know and considered it for only a moment before he gestured at it. "Well, c'mon, let's go hang out!" Then he turned his attention to her bag. "Huh, you probably don't want to leave that lying around, right? Do you think it'd be safe?" Maybe if it were a little further into the gardens where only the Earths usually hung around? Earths, in his experience and bias, were great people who would never steal from one another. "What were ya studying for, anyway? Not that studying is ever fun, but." He made a face at the thought. Nope. Never fun, not in his opinion.
