---------------------------------------------------------------Friday afternoon. Another round of classes had ended for the day. Some kids her age would want to start up their weekend already and get away from school as fast as possible. And where did Emma run off to, once classes ended for the day? At the Academy Library. Browsing around the shelves for a bit before she settles down to read. Her outfit is perfect for blending in. Her dark hair is down, falling across her shoulders and covering half her face. Emma bit her lower lip, as she scanned the titles sitting on the shelf to her right. A few moments came and went, while Emma walked slowly down the aisle. Her boots barely made a sound. She took a deep breath, giving up on browsing and deciding to settle down. So, a gaze around the room and she found a spot. She made her way towards the spot, though as soon as she dropped her bag down beside the chair, a girl sat down laughing. "Um, I was about to sit there, you know.." she commented. The girl stopped laughing and turned her head, shooting a glare in Emma's direction. "Well, I guess you were too slow then, huh?" the girl replied, raising an eyebrow. Emma returned the eyebrow raise. "Well, alright then." she then said. The girl didn't realize that she had set her water bottle upon the little table in front of her. When Emma moved to grab her messenger bag, she just happened to lift it up in the right way...so that it bumped the table just right..and the water bottle would tip on over. Right on the girl's purse, splashing past her leg. It's not Emma's fault that the girl can't tighten up the cap on her water bottle and Emma didn't have to use her power to do it. As the water hit the girl, she jumped and glared. "You.." she began to say. Emma smiled. "Sorry, my bad.. I guess the water didn't like you being rude. Have a nice day." Emma had responded, before walking away to find another spot. She briefly turned her head to look back at the girl and as she did, she then walked right into someone. "Oh! I'm so sorry, I wasn't paying much attention.." Emma said, taking a step back.

-ezra pound sat upon my bed, ASKED ME AS OF LATE WHICH BOOKS I'VE READ ASKED ME IF I'VE READ HIS OWN Nell scanned the shelves and they felt like home. Some spines she recognized, others she'd like to get to know. Her childhood had been spent surrounded by shelves, and now it was one of the few places she could find some peace. Her life had gotten out of control, spun too far for her to even try and get it back in line. Not even her home was safe anymore, but she certainly spent more time there than usual. She wanted to keep an eye on Bryce, even though it was all she could do not to snap at him when he was nearby. He was one of the few people who earned that sort of reaction from her, one of the few that came the closest anyone had to what she might consider hate. Rafael was his competition, so it was only expected that they had gotten together and became the most unholy of friends.
Her finger on Dickens, she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. She checked to make sure it wasn't a text message, having put it all on vibrate while in class, so she looked to see who was trying to get in touch. If it hadn't been her father calling, she wouldn't have picked up. She answered, keeping her voice low out of respect for the environment. "Something wrong?" was her greeting, and she imagined he was rolling his eyes, tired of her always answering the phone like that. With how little he called her, though, suspicion was natural. "You don't have to come over today," he informed her and that only made her worry more, even though it was spoken--in Spanish, of course--as something she shouldn't even have a second thought about.
She continued to walk, through the shelving and the books. The Earth graduate had come for a paper she had to write in a literature class. This professor like to assign the paper and the book at the same time. And this was one book she had yet to read, One Hundred Years Of Solitude. She looked forward to these projects, having once majored in English. Sometimes she wondered if she was too fickle for college, and that worried her. What if she had to drop out? What if she didn't become anything? She was sure she'd disappoint Josh. And her father too, but she didn't care as much about his opinion as she did her fiance's. This was why she never thought about her future, it was scary.
"Why not?" she asked him, and wondered if he would question her as to why she was speaking so quietly. He did not, just went on to explain, "I'm going out to dinner with someone." She stopped walking, blinked. Dinner? "With who?" It was turning into a game of twenty questions, a game she knew he did not enjoy. "A friend."
A smile creeped over her face. "A lady friend?" Things with Ms. Kustack didn't work out, but she wanted to have faith in his love life. Even now, finding out what he'd done to her mother. As of now it was more of an enjoyment in messing around with him. Was that terrible? The man sighed on the other end. "Yes, with a lady friend," he said, and she immediately replied, "I have to come over to get you ready!" Once a cheater, always a cheater, was that true? She didn't know how that worked. "This is why I did not want to tell you," he said, and she huffed a bit, blowing up her hair as she began to walk. "Fine, fine, I'll..." She turned her head when she noticed a disturbance, a conversation between two girls. Figuring that it would not turn into a fight, she walked away to get somewhere quieter. "I have a paper to work on, so that's fine." She was planning on taking her father to the doctor soon, however, it was just the matter of convincing him to go. Or maybe...she didn't have to convince him. She hung up and shook her head, before she was bumped into. Nell blinked, but smiled pleasantly. "It's all right," she reassured in her soft tone of voice. The Earth graduate pocketed her phone. Then she recognized her and a soft 'ahhh' left her mouth. "Hey, what was that chick mad at you about?" Nell questioned, nodding her head over to where she'd walked away from the voices. She wasn't one to pry, so if it was a personal issue or something this girl didn't want to talk about, she wouldn't press. It was just not something often happening in a library. People came here to read, not to get pissed at other people. [/blockquote][/blockquote] and whether i could spare A POUND OF FLESH TO COVER HIS BARE BONES. ---------------------------------------------------------------Judging by the pleasant smile on the girl's face, Emma seemed to be more at ease. She didn't need any more people being rude to her at the moment. "It's all right," She smiled back at the girl. No one was hurt, that's all that matters right now. A moment came and went. Then, the girl let a soft 'ahhhh' slip from her lips and Emma couldn't help but to raise an eyebrow slightly. Did this girl recognize her or something? She couldn't quite understand it, this is the first time she has laid eyes on this girl. So what could it be? "Hey, what was that chick mad at you about?" Emma couldn't help but to bite her lower lip, as the girl asked her question. Though she shouldn't, she stole a glance back at the girls. They were there still, trying to clean up after the water spilling on one of them. "Oh, that. Well, you see, I was about to sit there and one of the girls laid claim as I set my bag down and well..she was rude, so I made a little bit of a mess for her to clean up. No "help" from other means, if you catch my drift.." Emma softly spoke, her cheeks are starting to heat up and change color. She wasn't very proud of it, but she needed to show that she at least had some sort of a backbone. She was raised to stand up for herself and that's how things will be. "I'm sorry, but I believe we haven't been properly introduced. I'm Emma and you are?" she added, while slowly holding out a hand to the girl before her. Emma had liked to make new friends, there was no harm in that. Is there?

-ezra pound sat upon my bed, ASKED ME AS OF LATE WHICH BOOKS I'VE READ ASKED ME IF I'VE READ HIS OWN Upon seeing the girl's reaction to the question, Nell wondered if she should hastily take it back, wave her hands around. She was not nervous around people, but she did not like to make others uncomfortable, and she did not take her lip-biting as a good sign. Or she might have been reading too far into things, which also happened. She let her eyes find the other girls, too, but not so obvious because then they'd both be staring and that would attract unwelcome attention. As the girl spoke, a slow smile crept across her face. It was not something she'd do, passive as she was, but she had to admire the brunette's candor. "I'm guessing you're Water, then," she said, and not just because it was a Water type thing to do. "Because if you were a Wind, that mess would have knocked over a few shelves." She grinned then, flashing her teeth and clearly in a good humor. But that was not unusual for Nell. The unusual thing was to find her in a bad humor.
Nell lifted her eyebrows when the girl--Emma, as she introduced herself--held out her hand. People rarely did that anymore! It was only in meetings and interviews that she'd ever done so. And so she took it with a light chuckle, as if amused by some secret joke. "My name's Nell," she introduced herself. "And you can call me Nelly, or Nellers, or N-dubbs." Hopefully, the girl wouldn't recognize the name from the news. It had been last year, but the memories of the trial still haunted her. She'd lost a lot of friends through it, when people find out that she'd lied about everything she was. Who she was. Especially what she did. Killing her mother did not go over well with her friends, and those who stuck around probably thought about it still, wondered about it in the back of their minds. They might even tiptoe around her with their words, fearing that she might snap and kill them. She couldn't get rid of the stigma, no matter how hard she tried.
It may have seemed strange to others, but it was only natural for her to ask the next question with her over exuberant friendliness. "So how's your day been going?" It was as if Emma had been her old friend, that was how quickly Nell attached herself to others, folded them into her realm. She was the type of person to trust too easily at first, to give everyone the benefit of the doubt without a second thought. Remembering manners, she ducked her head a bit. "I'm sorry if you have any work to do," she said, realizing she might have been holding her up. Nell had work, but she was confident she could hold a conversation and then get to it. She was an expedient worker, so she did not believe it would take long at all.

---------------------------------------------------------------The girl's slow-forming smile didn't go unnoticed. "I'm guessing you're Water, then," Emma slightly raised her eyebrow. How could the girl have seen what happened over there? A moment had passed by. "Because if you were a Wind, that mess would have knocked over a few shelves." Emma couldn't help but to let a small chuckle slip past her lips. She could see the girl's point, definitely. "Indeed." she responded, then slightly leaned in to talk a little more privately. "And what are you, just out of curiosity?" Emma asked. Curiosity got the better of her and she wanted to know. But if the girl did not want to tell, then Emma would not pry. Emma was surprised by the light chuckle, when she held out her hand. Not a lot of people do this often, apparently. The girl spoke up anyway. "My name's Nell," A moment passed. "And you can call me Nelly, or Nellers, or N-dubbs." A slight nod of her head, Emma gave. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Nell." she answered. To be continued...
