It was almost unreal how excited Anna was to finally have her own apartment. It wasn’t like it wasn’t something all eighteen year olds came to terms with eventually, but it couldn’t seem to have come fast enough. She had finally gotten a pretty stable job, even if she couldn’t stand the employer. Jane could be a bit of a bitch, but Anna had mastered smiling in her face. Nell worked wonders when it came to helping her out in the job. She was pretty for sure she wouldn’t have been able to keep it if it wasn’t for Nell. The girl really was a life saver, no doubts about it. She had only been eighteen for a week when she decided to move out. Her parents where supportive, and her friends had helped her move. She had more stuff than she thought, so it had been a bit of a pain, but hey, she was happy to be on her own.
She had spent the past two days doing nothing but organizing and unpacking everything. It was a relenting process, but it was actually kind of fun. Despite being colorblind, Anna actually had a good fashion sense. She just tried to stay away from greens and blues, since those where the colors she had the worst time seeing. Would she wear them? Yes, only if she knew she had something that matched. Just like she kept her shoes very organized, as to make sure that they where going to match. She didn't realize how empty the place actually felt with just her stuff there. She figured she would end up going on a shopping spree. Maybe with Nell, and they would buy some stuff to decorate the place. The walls where pretty bare, but that would be her next project to fix up.
She plopped down on the hand me down couch from her parents, and stared at the ceiling for a moment. Being on your own was a gift. A privileged thing, but already she was figuring out that it was getting boring. She thought about maybe turning on the tv, and just chilling, but what was the fun in that? She could think of one person who would make it a lot funner. She pulled out her phone and sent a text to her best friend, Ashton. "Hey, you. Party for two at my new place. Bring snacks C:" She realized the text sounded kind of dirty - the party for two part, anyways, but Ashton wouldn't take that seriously. He did have a girlfriend now after all, so it was really no big deal. She sent him the address in another text message, and figured he would show up. So she wasn't too worried. She just sighed and leaned her head back against the couch.
Her small yorkie dog, aptly named Copper, came bounding out of the bedroom and into the living room where she was lounding. The dog yipped a little bit before hopping up onto the couch, and onto her stomach. She replied with a small grunt as all four paws landed on her stomach. "Well hey there Copper. How are you liking the new place?" The dog took to licking her face and she just laughed for a minute, before picking the dog up and setting him on the floor. Now she would just wait for Ashton to show up, and what ever chaos he would bring along with him.

Ashton had heard that his best friend was moving into a new place but he had not yet seen it for himself. He was excited for her, really happy for her, because Ashton lived through other people as much as he lived through himself. If his friends were happy, he was happy. He'd relied on them during the break-ups with several past girlfriends. He hadn't told them he was relying on them, of course, he'd just hung around them and smiled and allowed their cheer to induce his own. Now he had a girlfriend, a job, and a pretty decent life so when his friend was on the same track, he was twice as chipper as usual. When he got the text he grinned to himself and tapped out a quick reply. Ain't invitin' nobody, nobody but me? Be there ASAP with food! He shook his head at his own reference, wondering if Lieanna would get it. His mom still listened to Shania Twain and he would bet he could pin down the correct lyrics for every song. Well, maybe not every song, but a lot of them. When you grew up listening to what your parents did, shit happened.
Since Anna had asked him to provide the snacks for their little 'party', Ashton borrowed his father's truck and drove down to the convenience store. Using his own money he bought all kinds of things, a little of everything, simply smiling when the girl at the register raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Having some fun tonight?" He always liked it when people that worked jobs like this talked. It made them seem so welcoming and friendly. That was probably because he was such a friendly person and he figured it was always better to be nice to the people buying things off you. Service with a smile. "Yeah! My friend just moved into her new place and I'm going over to hang out." He was never a closed-off person. He told most people about his life no matter whether he'd known them for five seconds or five years. His business was everyone's business provided they were curious enough to make a simple inquiry. Sometimes even when they weren't. "Well, have fun. Don't die from sugar high." He laughed and returned the smile, thanking her before he headed toward the address that Lieanna had previously given him.
When he knocked on the door and Anna opened it, Ashton greeted her with a broad grin. "Hey hey, Anna banana!" He was always overzealous with his greetings, treating each and every friend like he hadn't spoken to them in weeks and this might be the last chance he got for a while. She was his best friend, he saw her all the damned time, but he still acted excited each and every meeting. "I come bearing gifts! Mostly lots and lots of food." She'd asked for snacks, he'd brought snacks. He stepped inside and placed the bags down on the nearest available surface, stretching out his fingers and examining the red weals along the insides. "The bags were digging into them. How's it going? The place looks great!" He wanted his own place some day. A place away from his parents where he could be free. He knew that wasn't possible right now with college tuition and all that. Plus he'd need a car of his own. He wasn't ready for any of it. "Aw, hey Copper," he crooned when he saw the dog. "So what's first on the almighty to-do list?" The to-do list of parties, which may or may not exist.

Anna loved all her friends, so Ashton was no different, even if he was a little bit crazy. That was the reason she loved him, after all. Living on her own was going to be one of those rides that all teenagers looked forward to and went through, but all she got from it so far was that it was boring. Yes, it was great not to have people snapping at her or being all up in her grill all the time, but it did get a bit lonely. When she got his text back, she couldn't help but laugh outloud. The song she recognized - she wasn't ashamed to admit she did listen to some Shania occasionally. Not often any more, but she still did. It wasn't something to be ashamed of, the woman was a great singer. Infact, she had done covers of quiet a few Shania Twain songs. She didn't like to brag too much about her singing and her guitar playing, but she did sometimes. She knew she was good and after all, she did plan to major in it. That was her dream! She did have her guitar sitting in the corner of the main living room - or one of her guitars, anyways. She always liked it to be on display.
When she heard a knock on the door, she happily skipped up to answer it. When she opened the door, she grinned brightly at her best friend, who stood in the door way carrying bags of what she guessed what was junk food. She laughed a little and stepped out of the way, to allow room for him to come set the bags down. "Hey hey, ashy washy." She smirked a little bit as she said it, knowing that he probably wouldn't like it. She always made little nick names for her friends like that, and it wasn't like somebody hadn't called him that before - at least she assumed not. She wasn't a very unique person like that. She could come up with some better names, but nah. "Food is always good, bro!" She smiled at him, then glanced down at his hands as he held them out. "Ouch!" She said, making a small hissing noise as she sucked air in through her teeth, and took his hands in hers for a moment to examine them. "I'm thinking you need to carry lighter bags!" She said, smirking at him a little bit. As if she was calling him weak. He could take her in arm wrestling any day. Copper bounded over by Ashton, and rolled over on his back, so as to tell the boy to rub his belly. "Aww. He missed you!" She smirked. She bit at her lip in thought for a moment. "I dunno. Eat junk. Watch movies. Play card games. What ever, man!"

Ashton was not at all phased by the nickname. Lieanna might have assumed that he wasn't going to like it but the thing about Ash was that he had a very high tolerance for most things. This was the boy who allowed others to crack jokes at his expense and yet still had the capacity to shrug it off and smile at the end of the day, he could handle a little nicknaming. All the same, it wasn't the most original thing in the world and he rolled his eyes with a friendly smile. "Like I haven't heard that one before! You need to step your game up." He was mostly teasing because he would never insult his friends seriously. Anyone who took him seriously clearly did not know the Earth graduate as well as they thought they did. That was an impressive feat considering he was an open book when it came to learning things about him. He liked to talk and in his ramblings often revealed a lot of things about himself. "I mean Anna banana isn't original either but still." No, there was no 'but still' about it, it definitely wasn't unique. They were two friends with a penchant for silly nicknames and this was all a joke anyway.
His mother always told him that junk food was not real food but he ignored it for the most part. In his opinion anything with 'food' in the name was, well, food. Pretzels and chips and candy were a lot more fun to eat than vegetables. He didn't jerk his hands back when she took them in hers in order to examine them, never being the type to get weird about things like that. He was as clingy as a koala bear (thank you, Lark, for that analogy) and so it only made sense that other kinds of physical contact didn't bother him. "Hey!" he objected when she poked fun at him. "They're still healed enough for me to hurt you. Don't make me hurt you!" He raised his hand like he might make good on his threat but one simply could not take Ashton seriously in a moment like this. He was far too friendly and pacifistic to be a serious suspect for any kind of domestic violence, even between friends.
Ashton was more than willing to oblige the dog's excited requests for a belly rub, kneeling down on the floor beside him and grinning as he tickled the animal's stomach. "You're so cute," he crooned, not caring that this seriously compromised how tough and masculine he might have looked. Who decided what was considered manly anyway? It wasn't like having a high level of affection and compassion for animals was a bad thing. "You're so helpful," he said, shaking his head. She didn't seem able to decide what they should do and so he straightened up and rocked back and forth on his heels as he tried to make that decision for himself. Two indecisive people should not be put in the same room together. Or the same anywhere. He wasn't too indecisive, though, mostly just easy-going. "How about all of the above?" When you could pick and choose, why not combine them all? He thought it was pretty innovative if he did say so himself. "We can eat junk and play cards with a movie in the background. But what movie? And what card game? Do you even have cards?" He supposed they could make some out of wood or something, being Earth graduates, but it would be way easier if they had a deck.
