Anyone who knew Karina Parsons knew that she wasn't the brightest bulb on the tree. In fact, if you were comparing her to lightbulbs on a Christmas tree, you would probably clasify her as burnt out. Karina barely scraped by in school and a lot people called her dumb. She shrugged it off, but it still really hurt her. She wished that she was as smart as her brother, but for some reason, she never was. Her brother always made fun of her for nearly failing school, and that's what hurt her the most.
One thing Karina did love however was shopping, whenever she got the chance, she would head out to the mall on weekends and spend all the money she could. She barely had enough room in her dorm for all of the stuff that she bought. That didn't stop her from buying more though. You could say that she had a problem with compulsive shopping, and if you told her that she wouldn't deny it. However, she would never try to fix her "problem" seeing as she didn't feel the need to. Her parents had money and they loved giving it to her. In her mind, anyone that refused someone's offer to give them money was just plain crazy. She never fully understood the concept of "material things are not important" she felt like they were the most important things to have.
That being said, Karina is far from shallow. If you are one to look past her dumbness, you would find that she is a really loyal friend who would always have your back, no matter what the situation. She is also very loyal to her element, with the exception of her relationship between her and her father and brother. Even though it was a bit strained now because of the war, she would never want to see them hurt.
Sitting at her table in the mall food court, Karina sighed as she thought about her brother again. Even though she loved him, she couldn't help but wish that we was a water elemental like her, or at least an earth one. That would make things so much less complicated for the two of them. Instead, he barely recognized her presence unless they were at home. In fact, when he was with his friends, he tormented her more than anything. Most of the time, meetings with her brother made Karina cry. She told herself that it was the fire elementals that made him do that to her, and therefore she pranked them every chance she got

If there was one thing Altair knew how to do, it was shop. She bypassed any cheap stores and places where they sold knock-offs, and headed for anything designer. The mall wasn’t really the best, in fact she could find better stuff on the strip, but it was highly convenient. It may have not been the best idea for her to be shopping so expensively, but she had expensive tastes. Not even being in dire straits could change that. She was an ex-model, and she liked to believe that it showed. Hair always placed just right, legs going on for quite a distance, and clothes clinging to her body perfectly, she knew how to accentuate everything god gave her. And she was proud.
Sunglasses perched on her nose, she looked at a skirt and rolled her eyes. ”I’m not even that whorish,” she muttered disapprovingly, letting it fall back into a pile with the others. Being whorish wasn’t a bad thing for her, actually. She was hot and she used that as collateral. She saw nothing wrong with profitting from her looks, selling her skin. If others disagreed, then whatever. She didn’t care. It was a convenient lifestyle for her, and that was why she wasn’t very willing to give it up. Eventually, she had to find a better way to live, but right now she was focusing on Rowena and her home life and keeping control of herself. No more waking up at houses she didn’t know the location of, hungover and naked. Well, at least she tried for that.
She decided to head to the food court, and with bags dangling from her arms, she made her way to Burger King. After getting her bag, Altair was about to look for a table when she noticed a familiar face and smirked. She approached, looking over her sunglasses so that Karina could see her blue eyes. Now, if she didn’t have pre-existing problems with the girl, she would have just made her merry way to another table. But she did, and Altair was a bitch. If one put the puzzle pieces together, they could guess where this confrontation would be going.
”Hey, Water cunt,” she said, not caring if anyone nearby heard because they’d probably think it was some kind of odd new slang, maybe, not a jab at the other girl’s element. The real insult came from Altair’s mouth easily—her filter was non-existent. ”Didn’t think I’d see you around. I was wondering if you’d like to chat.” A chat for Altair was a fight, outside of school grounds, and her grin made that rather apparent. See, if Altair decided to do something outside of school grounds, she wouldn’t have to worry about Karina being elementally stronger. They weren’t allowed to use their powers outside of the Academy, and she was pretty sure she could take the bitch if they went fisticuffs. Yes, Altair was a very proud person.

Karina replied coldly, not even bothering to look Altair in the eye. Altair had no respect for Karina, and Karina didn't feel the need to give her any respect back. "Last time I checked, we weren't even friends, so why are you even here? she added. She really didn't like this girl, and that would never change. It was a shame such a lovely day of shopping had turned sour in a matter of seconds.[/blockquote][/ul]

The Water girl didn’t have to worry about Altair taking elemental slurs too far in public. The girl wasn’t stupid, oh no. Even though she’d recently just entered the world of elementals—a year it’s been, it seemed like longer—she was smart enough to know how far to go and how loud her voice should be. And even though she was a naturally loud person, she could control herself when it mattered. Karina didn’t have to worry, even though the ‘Fire bitch’ would like that. She wanted to see the girl squirm. The bigger sadistic part of her had been left behind some time ago, but that didn’t mean her personality had completely changed after Syria died and she tried to pull her life up by the bootstraps. ”Nothing from you, of course,” she sneered. ”I don’t think anybody wants what you have…or rather, don’t have.” The girl was younger than her, and even though she was developed, Altair liked to take any shot she could. She was a proud person, confident, and so if the Water student tried to lobby anything back in terms of physical appearance, then they would be easily brushed off. You don’t know how many men sleep with me, she thought with a smile.
Altair let out a sharp laugh, showing that she was very, very amused. ”Oh, what a shame,” she lamented. ”Here I thought we could kiss in make up.” Rolling her eyes and her expression more serious now, Altair said, ”I just enjoy talking to you. Especially because you won’t do a thing. Her eyebrows lifted up as if encouraging the girl to do something, to take charge of the situation. Altair wanted a fight, and she didn’t really care if she was kicked out. It wasn’t like this place was her favorite stomping grounds. There were better stores she could hit, and her lack of bags spoke of that. Of course, the smart thing to do would be to shop cheaper. She’d traded in her Ducati for necessity’s sake, after all. Altair wasn’t as dumb as her grades suggested.
