Feeling the phone in her pocket vibrate, Nell checked the message. A surprise birthday party? Well, that sounded pretty damn fun, especially since she had free time to loiter around campus before getting ready. And to add to that, she also had her bubbles on her. As juvenile as it seemed, she actually liked them, watching the orbs float up into the air and dissipate. There was also bubbles that wouldn’t pop when you touched them, which she tried to create in her kitchen as a science experiment…which didn’t end well as she almost blew up her sink.
She decided the best place to sit and waste time would be in the courtyard, and she plopped down on a bench, dropping her satchel down next to her. The bag was heavy with all the books she had to carry around, and she rolled the shoulder she usually carried it on, feeling a dull ache. She would never complain about the amount of schoolwork she had, but she felt that pretty soon she’d get permanent damage from her bag. Getting ready to settle into comfortable mode, she kicked off her flip-flops and wriggled her rainbow toes that she just painted yesterday. It was nice that she could show them off now in the summer, her feet being pretty much the only part of her body she was truly comfortable with. She wore shorts and a tank top, and the latter kept having to be pulled down so it wouldn’t reveal her midsection and the scars she had there.
Taking out the container of bubbles, she dipped the wand in, thinking of how this was one more thing she should have been doing as a child. Nell blew out a bubble, smiling as she watched it float up into the sky. She usually used it to play with Pablo, who liked to bat at the soapy orbs. She smiled thinking of the confusion that crossed his face every time one popped upon contact. Actually, it made her giggle a bit, but she covered her mouth with the back of her hand so she wouldn’t warrant any attraction from students idling nearby. She couldn’t help it that she was in such a good mood. Well, she could usually be found in a good mood, but this day especially had been nice. She’d managed to get all her work done in the library and now she had extra time to goof off.
Opening up her bag again to pull out a tissue to wipe her soapy fingers off, one of her papers was caught up by a slight breeze and carried away. Of course. With a sigh, she set down her bubbles and began her chase. ”Oh jeez, get back here!” she said as she jogged a bit. Stupid paper and its stupidity. Oh well, it still didn’t bother her too much, which she supposed was a good thing. Nothing ever bothered her, but runaway papers especially.

Whistling gently Zephyr walked down the central courtyard. He wore a simple light blue polo shirt with the buttons unbuttoned and untucked from his pants and a pair of faded jeans with a hole in the left knee, held up with a brown leather belt that needed to be replaced soon, with a tarnished silver buckle and a pair of old gray converse that were sharpied with doodles on the side from when he got bored. His hair was tasseled and untidy and had a wind blown like appearance. His harmonica was in his back left pocket and he had a bit of a spring in his step. He was having a pretty good day today, the sun was shining and all, nothing seemed to seem like it could go wrong. As he walked along he saw a piece of paper floating by being caught by the wind and watched it for a moment as it drifted. Being a wind student that he was it was easy to manipulate the wind and catch the paper redirecting the wind so that it blew the paper towards him instead of away from him. He then saw the girl chasing after the paper. He chuckled. "This yours?" he asked holding out the paper to the older student with a smile on his face. "So it got away from you, huh?" he said grinning playfully as he held the paper out for the girl to take.

Nell was glad that she didn’t have to go chasing after her paper for long looking like a complete idiot. Nothing like a girl running across the Academy grounds after a single piece of paper to cause a scene. Of course, it wasn’t anything too odd for her. She’d done stranger things on the grounds, things that she herself didn’t consider strange as she did them. When she saw a guy catch it in her hand, she bounced up to him, leaning over for a second with her hands on her knees to catch her breath. Then, looking up she confirmed, ”Yep, that’s mine!” She took it from him and looked down at the paper to see exactly what had gotten away from her. A take home test. Oh god, that would have been really bad if she didn’t get that back. As if she wasn't already struggling in classes, a missing test would have been pretty detrimental.
”Thank you,” Nell said brethily, brushing strands of her hair behind her ear as the breeze came up again. ”I would have been in some trouble if it managed to escape my clutches any longer.” She should have headed back to her stuff and put her paper back in the bag, but she wasn’t just about to be an unfriendly jerk and not even introduce herself to the nice boy who retrieved it for her. Holding out her free hand, she said cheerily, ”I’m Nell, an Earth student in the twelfth grade.” You may or may not have heard of me, thanks to a little war. It gave her a bit of anxiety to know that her name had become practically infamous thanks to being accused of a murder she did not commit. But at least it was over now, she could be thankful for that. ”Are you a Wind student, by any chance? I saw how you changed up the wind current.” Then, as if realizing something truly great and exciting, she chirped, ”That was really cool!” She thought everything the elements could do was cool, but what this guy just did was especially interesting since it helped her get a paper back into her grasp.
