Okay. He was not used to this. Shawn hardly ever found himself in the detention hall, and being here was seriously going against his sense of self worth! What had he done to deserve this? How could he FORGET. The girl he'd thought was in love with him had convinced him to skip class with her, because 'if you love me, you'd do it'. How could he have been so stupid? She'd fucked off when she'd seen the teacher without a word to him, and then he'd been the one blamed. And worse, she'd dumped him an hour later. Apparently, she'd ran into her ex boyfriend, and they were working on renewing their relationship.

Life. Sucked.

Shawn sighed and put his head in his hands, shaking it from side to side slowly. Why did nothing ever want to work out for him? He wasn't a bad person. Sure, guys like Alex had screwed up lives too, but things always seemed to bend for them eventually. No matter how hard he tried, Shawn could never hold down a relationship. He looked up slightly as the door opened, wondering if it was the person who'd be holding the detention, as they hadn't arrived yet.

[Uh... the detention person got an STD and was too ashamed to come... let's go with that]

Shawn noticed that the room finally had one other person in it, a pretty girl that looked around his age, but who wasn't in his element, he knew this for sure. She seemed like she was probably in fire, thunder or wind, considering she'd gotten herself detention. Then again, that was a little bit prejudice - after all, he was in detention, wasn't he? He felt bad for assuming something like that so fast. He hadn't been expecting the girl to approach him, but she did, kneeling on the floor beside his desk. He wondered for a moment why she didn't just sit in a chair, but dismissed the thought. It didn't matter.

He sighed when she pointed out the fact that he looked pretty sad. He was, and it sucked to have it pointed out, because it meant people noticed. "Yeah. Just a break up," he said with a shrug. He went through tons, it wasn't like it was anything new. And the worst thing was, it wasn't like he wasn't trying. He tried so hard that it was depressing! She seemed nice, considering she'd approached him, so he decided to introduce himself. "I'm Shawn," he offered.

Shawn's expression changed from sadness to sympathy when the girl confessed to him that she as well was suffering from a break up. Shawn knew that they could be really harsh on a person, and he immediately felt the need to cheer her up in some way. "That sucks, I'm sorry," he said genuinely. "Is there anything I could do to make you feel better?" he wondered. He was constantly at other people's mercy, sacrificing his own happiness for that of others. Stupid, yes, but it was just who he was.

"Nice to meet you too, Victoria," Shawn smiled. He would have asked her what she'd been stuck in here for, but that might remind her, and it might make her angry. Trying as always to avoid conflict, he asked, "So, how are you coping?" He was generally concerned for the poor girl. He hoped the guy hadn't been a jerk.

Shawn smiled slightly when she said that she was fine. "Wish I could take these kind of things as well as you," he said truthfully, a slight envy in his voice. But Shawn wasn't a selfish person, exactly the opposite, so he wasn't going to let it get in the way of how he felt about this girl. She was nice, and seemed friendly. That was all that mattered. She said that she wasn't sure how anyone could break up with him, and he found that very sweet. But it was the opposite of how his life always seemed to want to work. "I dunno," he shrugged. "Guess I'm just not good enough for them."

Shawn bit his lip, wishing he could do something when she said that her ex hadn't treated her very well anyways. She then went on to say that she was only with him because she couldn't find anyone else. That was... really depressing. "I'm sorry to hear that," Shawn said sincerely. "I don't see why you couldn't find anyone else. You seem nice, and you're pretty, too," Shawn said, blushing softly at the last words.

Shawn hadn't thought of her words in a bad way at all, being the nice guy that he is. He always tried to look for the best in a person's words, and only if the hurt was inevitable would he accept the fact that they were trying to be cruel. But he smiled when she corrected herself anyways, and blushed softly when she said that he had a nice smile. She was one of the few people that had told him that, and she sounded genuine, so it cheered him up quite a bit. "I d-do?" he said, stammering softly. "Thanks." He was grateful for the hug, and he returned it. "I try my best," he sighed. "But if I'm too good for them, why am I never the one that dumps them?" Because they dumped him, never the other way around.

"Well, yes," Shawn admitted sheepishly, blushing even harder when he noticed her cheeks turn pink. "You're v-very pretty, Victoria."

Shawn smiled gratefully when she assured him that his smile was nice, then his expression clouded with a slight confusion when she said that he was too sweet. How could anyone be too sweet? Being nice was considered a good thing in a relationship, right? "Take advantage...?" he said slowly. "No... why would they do that?" Shawn just didn't want to accept the fact that the girls he'd fallen in love with had used him. It just wasn't possible. There must be something wrong with him, some sort of glitch. It wasn't them. "Lucky..." Shawn repeated, liking the sound of that. Victoria was very sweet, and kind.

Shawn blushed, biting his lip with a bashful expression when she told him that he was cute. "Ahw, th-thanks," he stammered, still blushing heavily.

"Yeah," Shawn sighed as he accepted her words. Yes, some people in the world were cruel, but he always liked to give everyone a second and even third chance. He just couldn't accept the fact that anyone was truly cold, at least without cause. "It's just sad that some people can use love in that context." Honestly, who was cruel enough to torture someone, to lead them on, and then break their heart? Shawn hated this type of person. Thankfully, Vikki didn't seem that way at all. He nodded as she spoke, agreeing with everything that she was saying. It's alright," he said softly when she apologized. "I can understand." And he could, honestly. Who wouldn't get angry when they thought of that. "Anyone would be lucky to have you, as well," he said. "Very."

Shawn smiled slightly at the little giggle. He was starting to really like Victoria, and that was pretty pathetic considering she'd only just met him, and vice versa of course. But she seemed so sweet and innocent, and she always knew the right thing to say. "You're always cute, bl-blushing or not," he stammered slightly. He really did think so, and he hoped she'd react well to that.
