Annabel rarely ever had a filter between her thoughts and her words. She let them flow off her tongue, spoke her mind, and didn't really think about what the consequence of those words would be. Such was her issue when she was faced with an older Thunder elemental in his usual practice of trolling the freshmen. He stood in her way in the centre of the hall and folded his arms, smirking at her. "I'm sorry, is there a problem?" She really hated guys like this. Just because he was like eight feet tall, that did not mean he was getting his way! She needed to get back to her dormitories and she'd be damned if he stopped her. "Move." Alright, so maybe that had sounded a lot more tough and impressive in her head but hey, you couldn't blame a girl for trying. Predictably, he smirked at her. "Nope. You're shit outta luck, freshie. Why don't you go the long way 'round?" She crossed her arms. This guy was a douchebag. He was exactly the kind of person she didn't like to associate with. Maybe it was best she wasn't a Fire. She didn't want to be allied with him. She knew he was Thunder because he'd already bothered her a few times before. "Move your ass, dude, I want to get past." Maybe if she just stood here long enough he'd take the hint and give up? "And what are you gonna do if I don't?" It was at this point where Annabel's overconfidence and bravery became a problem. If I can just shove him outta the way, I'll be able to get by. And that was precisely what she tried to do. Stepping forward, she shoved hard against his side and tried to slip past him when she had the advantage of surprise.
It didn't work. The Thunder grabbed her upper arm and held it tight as she struggled, clearly revelling in the power he had over her. He pulled the smaller freshman against him and held his arm across her chest, laughing as she tried to slip out from under his grip. "You're cute," he told her with sarcasm, clearly delighting in her lack of physical strength. He could tell that his motives were more trollish than creepy but it was at this point where she'd decided she'd had enough anyway. Taking a breath to steel herself, she bent her head down and sank her teeth into the flesh of his forearm. He yelled in pain and let her go, letting her think for a moment that she'd had her victory. The girl was halfway down the hall when the wave of electricity hit, the force of it actually knocked her off her feet and against the wall. "Ah, shit..." It hurt pretty bad and there were tears in her eyes as she leaned against the wall to catch her breath, hating the sound of him laughing as he walked down the hall in the other direction. "Asshole." She hated being the fresh meat at the Academy. Joshua had told her how the Fires had it pretty good because their element was tight-knit and tended to back one another up if there were problems. She found herself hating her lot in life yet again as she recovered from the initial pains and pushed away from the wall. Why did she never get what she wanted? It wasn't fair.
She still felt a little weak from the after-effects of the shock, trembling slightly from it. She decided right then and there that she hated Thunder elementals. Annabel made her way back to the Water dormitories slowly and pushed open the door, going inside and immediately flopping down on one of the couches. It was comfortable and it felt good to lie down to sort of stave off the exhaustion she was feeling. She found herself gazing up at the glass ceiling, tonnes of water pressing down on it from above. The fact that the lake was over top of the Water dormitories was intimidating but they were assured early on that the glass was so thick that it would not crack under the intense pressure. Occasionally some of the braver students that didn't mind swimming to the bottom of the lake would tap on the glass and grin at the occupants of the common room before kicking off back toward the surface. At least the actual dormitories had normal stone ceilings. Annabel would be kind of freaked out if people would be able to watch her while she was sleeping or undressing or anything like that. "Does anyone want to help me prank a Thunder elemental?" she grumbled loudly enough for the whole room to hear, wondering if anyone would actually take her up on the offer. "He's a dick and I hate him and he needs to get what's coming to him." Hey, Waters were good at pranks, right? Maybe someone would be willing to lend her a hand. She would love them forever. She was just a freshie, after all. She'd yet to learn the true art of trolling from a master.

you're like a hallucinogenic, in the common room of the water elementals some sort of havoc was always being caused. with a bunch of pranksters no one was ever truly safe, not even tucked away under the lake. one would think that among their own kind they would be able to find a security that could be located nowhere else. jensen brewer had quickly learned now to assume such thoughts of unity and camaraderie. in her freshman year she had made the mistake of openly insulting the water leader and not having enough of a backbone to own up to the fact that she had made such a wrong choice. honestly, she had been fourteen and all of the things that came out of her mouth were jaw drop worthy. she was seventeen now and still had yet to grow out of that phase....if she ever did. but that was not the moral of the story. what it came down to was a week later she woke up and found that her bed was now floating merrily off of the shore of the lake. around all of the leaders she had learned to keep her mouth shut, unless she wanted a much worse prank to happen the next time around.
by sophomore year jensen had upgraded herself to one who was now considered a sage of pranks. she had bested the water at the time two times in a row and actually had someone admit to her that they thought of her pranks as holy. she didn't consider herself godlike, most of her pranks were rather simple, but it was the sort of attention that she didn't mind basking in. besides savate there wasn't much else that she was good at, besides lacking a filter and insulting people left and right, without ever meaning to. as she lay out on a couch in the common room, one of the freshmen who's name she had yet to learn came scampering over to her. "is there something you need, kid?" she questioned listlessly, more enveloped in her thoughts of whether she would eat fish sticks or chicken nuggets for dinner. the kid was fidgety and shuffled from foot to foot, looking like they were debating whether or not they were actually going to ask her something. "come back to me when you're not choking on your tongue," jensen said, finding she had no effort to care as they darted out of the common room. lost in her thoughts once again, she happily returned to the decision of what she would be devouring for dinner. it was the high point of her day, since she had done nothing but try to corral some fire students to the point of serious anger. it hadn't been successful, because one of the professors had discovered her in the corridor and immediately was able to put two and two together. a soft plop on the couch opposite of the one that jensen had claimed pulled her out of thoughts long enough for her to realize that the tiny girl was annabel dale. she was one of the new freshmen and the only reason that she knew her name was through josh. she spoke and immediately had jensen enraptured. she sat up, focusing on annabel and the annoyance that seemed to be painted onto her face. "is that the thunder douche who stands in the middle of the corridor, just for the hell of it?" jensen already felt like she knew the answer, which only made her more eager to be apart of annabel's shenanigans. she stood, shuffling over to the couch to glance down at annabel. "we'll come up with a prank so epic that people will be worshiping you, regardless of the fact that you're a freshie," she said to the blond, winking at her. [/div]

Annabel should probably have understood that she was way out of her league when it came to dealing with older Thunder students. Maybe she should have simply ducked her head like most of the freshmen would and scurried off in the other direction to take the long and unnecessary route back to her dormitories. She have felt a lot better in arriving to the dormitories even if she'd have been irritated by his attitude. She probably should have understood this, but she refused to. Another thing she refused to do? Back down. She didn't care that he was three grades older and probably had a bunch of friends in his element that could gang up on her and take her out in a couple of seconds flat, she was bent-set on getting back at him. The girl was competitive and a sore loser. When her best friend had beat her score on Tetris, she had refused to speak to the girl for a week. In fact, it was only when she'd managed to top the mortal's score that she'd been content enough to go over and hang out. Kelly had forgiven her easily enough. There was something about being a best friend that gave you an understanding about another person. She was viewing this issue with the Thunder with the same serious ferocity she'd viewed the Tetris death-match. This Thunder was going down no matter how long it took her to take him down. But she was not going to be able to do this alone.
That help, it seemed, was going to come from Jensen. Annabel's blue eyes flicked toward her when she spoke and the freshman looked positively delighted, recognizing her as one of the older and cooler Water girls out there. She'd heard good things and her brother had told her some positive stuff as well. "Yes!" she exclaimed, nodding when Jensen inquired about their future victim. "That's him! He is such a dickbag. I mean I didn't even do anything to him." Annabel hardly ever bothered to watch her language when she was not around Josh or Nell. Her brother and his fiancee were the two people she cared about when it came to positive opinions. Nell was her future sister in law so of course she cared about her opinion and Josh was like her idol. "He was just standing there with his arms crossed like some... some..." She was trying to think of a word that was both foul and sounded cool at the same time. No word came to her. Ugh, words were so fucking hard when she was mad about something! It wasn't fair. Sentences should structure themselves. "I don't know, he's just an ass and I don't like him. He shocked me." She admitted this last bit with a huff. She probably had an electrical burn on her lower back where the shock had made contact and she'd need to go to the medical wing later for it. Annabel had not yet been to the wing for any reason and she really wasn't looking forward to her first trip. Especially not if her brother found out, because then he'd fret and it was weird when he was worried.
She'd looked angry and dejected about the Thunder elemental and quite bitter at the fact that he'd defeated her so easily but Jensen's desire to get up to mischief with her brought the usual grin back to Annabel's face. "Teach me, oh great leader," she joked, knowing that Jensen was considered an amazing prankster by a lot of their Water kin. She was in twelfth grade and a friend of her brother's. "Seriously, though, I've never really done this before. Fresh meat and all. And he got me pretty good." She scowled quickly at the thought. She wouldn't be admitting weakness if she didn't have a plan to eliminate that weakness, though. It was not her style. She wanted this guy going down, and any friends that happened to be with him. "Got any brilliant ideas? If you lead, I'll follow. Just don't expect me to do any heavy lifting." She grinned, clearly in jest. "I'll end up dropping shit and blowing our cover." Annabel was pretty small so lifting heavy stuff really was not her forte. Really, though, she was just trying to brighten her own mood after the bastard Thunder had dragged it down. Being a Water, she didn't exactly do well with being upset. So, naturally, she was going to try and eliminate all of the bitter and bad feelings and whoop his ass with a prank instead. Revenge was sweet.

you're like a hallucinogenic, the older students were not lenient when it came to punishing the underclassmen for their stupidity. now, she was not saying that annabel had been the wrong in this particular situation. not by any means was she to be blamed as the one for actually initiating all of the trouble. the thunder twat should not have thought that he owned the corridor and wasted all of his time waiting for someone totally innocent to wander by. it was a whole issue that could have been avoided if he had the thought to actually act like a proper human being. was that possible? no, not for a thunder douche such as himself and the posse that he hung around. jensen had learned by the end of her freshman year that nearly the whole lot of thunder and fire were just people that were barely human. for that reason the bulk of them had become the main victims for all of her pranks. it caused more tension between the two elements, something that jensen realized made things more prone to breaking out into war. that didn’t keep her from pulling all of her pranks. it was only when the leader dug into her because of how many enemies her pranks made that she finally would lay back on them for a brief amount of time.
jensen had to take a moment to laugh at the language that the thirteen year old girl was using. she sounded just like herself when she had been back in freshman year and that very age. some part of her whispered to her that it was very likely she would end up bringing the little water girl under her wing. never before had she had anyone who she looked to as her sort of student, an outcome that she would help to create with her teaching. jensen was by no means a teacher and no one usually came looking to her for guidance. it was very well that they didn’t. "he has been like that since he was in your grade. the bitch thinks of himself as entitled, like he is a king or something.” she was keen to fill annabel in, scowling at the accurate description she gave of the thunder guy. he was nothing like he thought himself to be, that was for sure. jensen pitied annabel in that very moment, because she had done nothing to be bullied already. it was now making jensen enraged and worked up, which was not a good mix of emotions. “you shouldn’t like him. especially if he shocked you. but don’t worry, annabel. we’ll make him pay for that,” jensen said solemnly, her tone signifying that she meant business.
annabel had nothing to worry about as long as she was being guided by jensen brewer. she was one of the most skilled pranksters in the whole water bunch. there were a few others who were masters compared to her, but she fancied pretending that in her world they did not exist. a soft laugh came from her and she shook her head at annabel. “i will pass on all of my knowledge to you, young grasshopper. when i leave, you will be one who holds the title of prank master,” she jokingly said to annabel, enjoying the playful words that the girl had been able to offer to her. for a moment she was silent, thinking over the potential pranks that floated into her mind without any warning. all of her face lit up brilliantly and she bounded to the left, down the hall that held the girl’s dorms. annabel was only left alone for a minute before jensen came back into the common room, shoebox in hand with an excited look slapped onto her face. “ants in the backpack and worms in his pasta. is that a good enough prank for you, my budding prankster?” she asked annabel with a mischievous look, holding the box sacredly, as if it were a gift from god.

Annabel was rather entitled herself, but she still hated entitled people. She thought she was awesome and would profess herself as such and yet when someone came along who tooted their own horn too much it made her blood boil. Highly hypocritical? Yes. Did she care? No. Well, it was more like she didn't notice, but that was besides the point. The Water elemental was cocky and she was fine with being cocky. If someone tried to talk down to her she convinced herself that they were just jealous. That was what everyone always told her when she was a little kid and someone made fun of her on the playground. "Oh, honey, they're just jealous of you!" It had appealed to her budding ego and caused it to bloom. Technically it was her parents' fault she was so full of herself, yeah? She'd blame them if it all came down to it. "Ew, someone like him should not be walking around like he owns the place," she said, shaking her head in obvious disapproval. "Is he like, a rival of yours or something? Seems like there's bad blood there." She leaned forward with interest and rested her chin on clasped hands, wondering if Jensen would tell her anything. Annabel didn't think about filters or boundaries or anything like that unless it was obvious that there should be a boundary. She wouldn't go asking for someone's life story within five minutes of meeting them but she didn't see anything bad about this. "Ugh, some of the Thunders in my class are his mini mes or something. I hate Thunders, seriously." And to think she'd wanted to be in their allied element. How would she have dealt with their douchebaggery?
She felt very approving and comforted by Jensen's solemn tone, liking that this girl was taking her seriously and not acting like she was some petulant kid. Really, she was in high school now, she was almost fourteen. She was a teenager, thirteen, she didn't want to be treated like no one could take her seriously. Not being taken seriously was one of Annabel's pet peeves. Especially when she was playing video games! They all thought she'd suck because she was young and a girl (because, you know, chicks don't play games or anything) but she delighted in proving them wrong. Now a lot of her gaming buddies respected her and she liked that. "I can't wait to see his face when we get him with... whatever we're getting him with," she said, her features lit with glee and she grinned over at Jensen. Seriously, Jen was so cool. So awesome. Annabel was going to be forever in her debt or something like that. At any rate, she just really wanted to get this guy with something. She giggled when Jensen joked with her. "Grasshoppers are so freaking weird with their jumping and shit," she remarked, because there was nothing strange about discussing grasshoppers, no. "Can't I be like, a rattlesnake or something? Or is that reserved for the reigning prank master?" Joking around was fun stuff. She loved to laugh and to see other people smile. It might have sounded cheesy but it wasn't because she didn't believe in sadness, it was just because she was friendly and liked to make friends. Sadness and moping did not make for a good friendship.
She was not too jumpy but she did look surprised as Jensen jumped up without warning and rushed out of the room. Annabel craned her neck to follow Jensen's path with her sight, wondering what it was she was doing and if she planned on coming back. She trusted the older Water not to leave her hanging, though, and she turned out to be right as Jen returned with some sort of a box. "What's in—" She'd started talking at the same time as her new friend but she was the one to cut herself off and fall silent, both out of respect for Jensen and because she figured that the older girl would answer her question before she even had to finish asking it. And she was right. She pondered the prank for only a moment before a wicked sort of grin spread across her face. It might have been classic and not that elaborate but it was gross and maybe that was just what this prank needed. "Yeah, yeah!" She sounded as enthusiastic as she felt and it was quite obvious that these emotions were not faked. She was really enthralled about the idea of putting ants in someone's bag and that showed that she didn't have much of a problem with being cruel. That was probably why she wasn't Earth. She was like her Fire family in some ways, she just didn't have the intense anger issues that they did. "Should we do it now? Do you know his name? Where can we find him?" She was clearly getting overly pumped and ahead of herself. The small blonde laughed and shook her head, hair falling out from behind her ear. She tucked it back and said, "Or just that first one." For starters. She didn't want to overwhelm Jensen like the chatterbox she was. Then again, as a fellow Water, the girl was probably used to it.

you're like a hallucinogenic,
she was glad to see that annabel was already thinking in the correct mindset for a water student who loved to prank. the thunder and fire students were not to be condoned, with the exception of those like josh. the rest of them were nothing but filth and did not deserve to be given the title of human being. maybe she was exaggerating slightly when it came to that, but now she was riled up because some thunder dick had attacked a water freshie for no reason. well, besides for his own amusement, but that excuse on flied with water students and how they pranked to pass the time. "that is why the waters exist, to put all of those entitled fire and thunder bitches into place," jensen said with a devilish grin. so far she was getting along with annbel and all of the things she had to swimmingly. the question that annabel asked made her smile and she gave a shake of her head as answer. "it is just this thing were after one thunder student has crossed me the wrong way i just hate the whole lot of them. there is nothing good about them anyhow," she admitted to the girl, malice lacing subtly through her voice. jensen was a brutal person and it showed through her hatred of the enemy elements. jensen laughed at the girl again, entertained with everything that she had to say. how had she not introduced herself to this freshie before? "all thunders are the same. remember that annabel," she tried to wisely say. immediately she had fallen into a comfortable state that signified the potential for a lengthy friendship between the two. in her eyes annabel was not the younger sister of josh dale or a freshmen who was unable to make a mark in the history of the academy. to her annabel was someone who had every right to prove herself as much as any other person she were to possibly meet. something told her that annabel was also appreciating the company that jensen had to offer. maybe it was her smile or the fact she was chattering as if they had known each other for much longer then only a few minutes. another smile bloomed on her face, one that showed just how sly and mischievous she really was. "if you're already feeling satisfied with this prank then just wait until you see his actual reaction. it's one of the best feelings in the world," jensen said to her, reveling in the fact that she was going to be able to pass down the art of pranking onto another person. annabel would maybe feel empowered and love the feeling, ready to get herself involved with many more pranks. for a moment she thought about the girl's comment, rubbing her chin with her hand for dramatic effect. finally, she looked to her with seriousness rubbed onto her face. "with that comment taken into consideration you have been upgraded to a rattlesnake. but, if you fail at all your rattler will be taken away and you'll be nothing but a lowly garden snake," she said, managing a sober tone that only made the comment that much more hilarious. the shoe box of insects was something that jensen had kept around since the end of freshman year. you never knew when you need a grasshopper or a spider! or at least, that was the justification that jensen gave whenever someone dared to question her. she gingerly held it, opening it by carefully removing the lid and removing two plastic containers. placing the lid back on, she held out one container, the one of ants, for annabel to take hold of. the girl was seriously excited about the prank they were about to pull, with very good reason. jensen laughed at her, hardly overwhelmed by the barrage of questions annabel just threw on her. "he is getting ready to eat lunch soon, if i am not mistaken. yes, i do know that bit of information. his name is james berkeley. of course! we're doing it now, or else it might never happen," she blathered out, just as speedy as annabel had spoken. without saying anything she set the shoe box underneath the couch, where nobody would disturb it while they were gone. silently she looked at annabel, expressing that it was time to go. "let this prank officially begin, annabel dale," she said proudly. with the container of worms she made her way out of the common room, sure that annabel was following her. the pair had to look inconspicuous, or as subtle as they could look with containers of worms and ants in their hands. anyone who passed them would probably just assume that it was nothing more than water antics and let them go. that was how it happened most of the time, anyway, since they knew best to get involved with anything that the waters were scheming. Annabel shifted slightly when Jensen insulted Fires and Thunders in the same breath, thinking about the friends that she had and the family who shared the element of Fire with one another but not with her. She still sometimes wished that she'd be like Josh and Bryce and both their parents in inheriting the fiery element but she knew that her personality did not allow it. However, it was not just because of Josh and her own feelings about Fire that she hesitated, even though Jensen would probably think that was the case. She had a friend in Fire, too, a forbidden friendship so early into the year. Adam is Fire. Would she think he was entitled, too? Maybe she would. Maybe he was. But he was her friend. Still, she recovered quickly and smiled. "Yeah, we'll show 'em who's boss and all that. As long as we don't get Josh, 'cause I'm pretty sure he could take us both out." She mentioned her brother in order to swiftly cover up the moment of uncertainty that she'd felt and to crack a (very true) joke. Her brother was a senior in college and so even though Jensen was a Water he could take her out and have enough energy left to trump his little sister as well. She trusted him not to, she was only kidding, but it was scary sometimes to think about how powerful the college elementals actually were. Their stamina training was intense and designed to give them loads of energy to accomplish powerful things. "I can't wait 'till I'm in college," she breathed longingly, shaking her head. "I was watching some of the juniors practice by the lake and it was awesome." They could raise a huge portion of the lake and send it toward someone in a massive wave. Impressive to a puny freshman like Annabel.
If her new friend had let one Thunder mark her opinion for the entire element, what did that mean for her opinion about Fires? Annabel hated that her friendship with Adam and her (still somewhat valid) desire to be a Fire elemental herself got in the way of so many things that the Waters all seemed to agree upon. They loved to play games in which they'd try to piss the Fires off until breaking point and then wipe the floor with them elementally. Annabel thought that was a bit cruel but at the same time, she wanted to fit in. So she'd do it, too. She'd tag along on the group prank wars. "I'll remember," she said, and it was a good thing that she was so good at keeping her thoughts to herself. Well, at least she could hate Thunders without incident. And she was excited to prank the douche that had shocked her, which helped her to see things Jensen's way rather easily on that front. "Ooh, I can't wait! I've never pranked someone at school before." It was like a Water elemental initiation in a way, a sort of 'welcome to the team' prank in her eyes. With this little trick pulled on a meddling Thunder, she was going to become one of them. She might not have wished her entire life to be a Water elemental but that did not mean she didn't want to fit in with her new friends. She was torn more than anything. "Alright! Rattlers are badass. And don't worry, I won't be failing." She crooned the words with a confident sort of pride. Annabel was never one to sell herself short, no, she thought she was pretty amazing and all that.
Taking the container of ants in her hands, Annabel resisted the urge to pop off the lid and look inside before they got the chance to dump them in the boy's bag. She didn't want any of them to escape, after all! "How do you keep them all alive?" Annabel wasn't too concerned about why Jensen had a box full of insects, it was probably just a thing that all Water elementals did by having their prank materials on hand in case of emergency, she was more concerned about the status of the creatures. A bunch of dead ants weren't as concerning as a bunch of live ones, after all. It was too bad they couldn't get tarantulas in stock and let them loose in his bag. Or a snake. Those were probably a lot more dangerous, though, and she didn't want to get into too much trouble. "James. Ew. He even sounds like an asshole." Not that all people named James were dicks, he just sounded like one because he was one and that was her logic. She followed after Jensen eagerly, totally unconcerned with the idea of being a follower and not a leader, and giggled at some of the strange looks a few of the fellow freshmen gave them. Most of the older elementals did not seem phased or surprised because of course, Waters would be Waters. She was excited for this prank indeed. "So how are we going to pull this off?" After all, it would be kind of hard to put worms in his food or ants in his bag when he was looking. Jensen probably had some sort of a master plan, though, and that was why Annabel looked to her for pranking guidance.

you're like a hallucinogenic,
her narrow minded way of thinking only stemmed from the fact that the thunder and fire kids had done her wrong since day one. she could understand the elder water kids need to set a younger water in place, it was the whole ladder of power thing and whatnot. the thunders and fire were given no right to assume that they could bully another element who had done nothing to them as a mere freshman. the hatred stayed routed deep in jensen's heart, springing out whenever she was faced with someone who came from those two elements. until the day she was through with the academy her thoughts were remain the same on the subject, with no one being able to tell her otherwis. that was just jensen being her average pigheaded self. "we're just going to leave josh out of this. focus on the fire dicks and thunder bitches that really deserve it. josh, however, is one of the fires who is on my good list," she informed annabel with an assuring nod. she knew that josh would very well kick her ass if she did one thing wrong. that was the very reason while jensen made sure she was extremely careful around him. or else she knew that would she find herself burnt. the longing in annabel's voice made her think back to the times when she had been in her very position. now, she was a senior, soon enough going to be able to perform those very amazing things she was speaking about. "i'm more excited about the whole ice bit," she said to the girl, bobbing her head excitedly. annabel didn't necessarily have to adopt the same thought process that jensen had pledged to live by. it would be more wise for her to actually ignore the advice that the older water girl was attempting to feed to her. her own beliefs had been marred by bad experiences that would only drive her to be bitter and resentful. maybe annabel was actually able to pick some redeeming qualities in their enemy elements, which in the long run would possibly be better for the girl. power to whatever she believed, jensen thought really. she grinned at the younger girl, thoughts of more serious matters already wiped from her mind. "then get yourself prepared, because this is only the start of your pranking career." she had this whole year and three more years without jensen to continue on with the pranking. adequate pranking and mischief making could be executed in that span of time. jensen would see to it that the dale girl got in as much pranking as she possibly could. there was only so much guidance that she could give to the girl before she would move onto actually having to give all of her focus onto her own future. the time would be thoroughly enjoyed while she was able to mentor the future prank master. the confidence of the girl was also something that jensen would be able to admire. she was a rattler who would bare her fangs, even if she really didn't have any yet. she was exactly the type of potential who would turn out to be a prime water. "i have now instilled all of my confidence and faith into you, annabel. don't let me down, rattler," she said to her, looking at the girl with brilliantly lit eyes. the first thing that annabel was going to have to learn was that the sort of supplies waters kept were not be come across as surprising. jensen's stock would have been much more vast and varied if she were able to sneak more things onto the academy grounds. the security over the school was secure and she really did not want to risk getting expelled for something as silly as prank supplies. she gave a shrug, like it wasn't that big of a deal that she was keeping varying insects alive. "you just have to know what to feed them and they thrive," she said simply. the procedure of the prank really was much more simpler than it seemed. james had a set routine that jensen had observed multiple times, eventually committing it to memory. she looked at annabel with a devilish look, turning down a corridor that would lead them directly to the dining hall. "james sits in the back of the dining hall, where no one goes because the nastiest of the thunders sit there. he is too damn cocky and leaves his stuff alone while he takes some time to dick around with his friends," jensen explained, holding onto the container carefully. she was quiet momentarily, allowing the information to set in annabel's brain for her to soak in completely. "so basically, all we do is send a jet of water from the general area of where the water kids sit and then you will dump the ants in his pack and i will leave the worms to hide in his pasta. we slink away from the scene of the crime and when things settle down we enjoy the outcome," she said, reveling in the awesomeness that was her plan. she continued to walk along, glancing over at annabel to see how she would react to the plan that she honestly conjured up less than a minute ago. She was relieved when Jensen seemed to buy the fact that it was just her brother that was bothering her, not wanting anyone to know about whatever separate loyalties she might have. Annabel was going to do her best to be a good member of her alliance and stay away from the majority of Fires and Thunders but surely Adam was an exception, right? I knew him before school started. Before I knew. It shouldn't count. At the same time, she was not going to trust anyone with the information about her forbidden friendship. She would keep it to herself and prove that she could be a good little Water elemental. "Well if they're dicks and bitches then we can totally take 'em out, no problem," she said. Annabel's voice carried conviction because this was something she had absolutely no problem with doing. As long as they avoided her brother and she could somehow avoid having to attack Adam as well, she'd be home free. The rest of them were probably jerks and so she could hold a grudge for the sake of holding one and upholding the alliances. "Ooh, yeah," she said, blue eyes glimmering. She loved the idea of ice manipulation and all of the cool things that she'd be able to do with her powers some day. She'd grown up wishing for Fire and heat manipulation like the rest of her family but she had to admit that ice was pretty badass. It was cold and sharp and all that good stuff. "I'm guessing that means you're staying on for college then, yeah?" She knew that not everyone chose to remain at the Academy for their college years, opting to go abroad or instead to the college in Maple Hollow where all the mortals went.
Sadly, being young and impressionable meant that Annabel had a high chance of being corrupted by a lot of the older Waters she'd no doubt grow to idolize during the years. Everyone that mattered except Adam was on her side, even her Fire elemental brother, and so there was little harm in being brainwashed by her new kin except for an alienation of free will and opinion. "So how do you learn to come up with new things?" Annabel wondered aloud as they walked, for she was still a fresh face to the pranking world. She knew all of the classics of course like switching salt for sugar and vice versa, silly little things, but she wondered how originality was maintained. "And is it always okay to fall back on old ideas?" Worms in the food was a classic, after all, but she wondered if there were any sorts of conduct to be followed when deciding how to prank someone. I wonder what the Fires talk about in their dormitories. Joshua had told her that they were all very close-knit and accepted even the freshmen into their folds with ease. She also knew that attacking one member was a bad idea unless you wanted them all to descend upon you like a pack of ravenous wolves. "What the hell do worms even eat? Dirt?" she wondered, making a face. She didn't mind getting dirty or anything but the idea of eating dirt was something else entirely. She'd been one of those kids that didn't mind making mud pies and rolling around in the grass but that didn't mean that eating said mud pies had sounded like a good idea. No thank you.
She had quickly learned after a few days of going to the mess hall that there was a certain arrangement of seating, an unspoken sort of trend. Most of the Fire elementals tended to hang out with one another in huge groups with a few Thunders and Winds scattered throughout and a few loners from the Fire element breaking away from the crowd. The Earths and Waters tended to stick together in mixed, scattered groups, again with several Winds in their mixture. The Thunders were more akin to be the loners sitting at single tables or with a group of one or two instead of a large crowd. Their quiet and reclusive natures shone in the gathering of elementals. "What an idiot," Annabel said disapprovingly, despite the fact that she was just as cocky as James in some ways and would probably do the same thing. She could often be hypocritical. "He deserves ants in his bag. I mean if he just leaves it lying around he's asking for it." The only reason she made sure her bag was never left unattended was that it had a very expensive gaming laptop in it. She couldn't resist the urge to bring her gaming laptop to school. The desktop at home was better and more powerful but she could live with the laptop at school since it was portable. "You'll need to handle the water jet, though. I can't do that shit yet." She wished that she could but that would be a couple years yet. Well, maybe tenth grade would see her being able to shoot a jet of water as long as she had a source for it, but it would be eleventh grade before she could create it and blast it from nothing.

you're like a hallucinogenic, dicks and bitches. exactly how jensen would sum up the whole lot of the fire and thunder kids. having only met a fraction of them it was safe to assume that she had just gone ahead and labelled the whole lot of them. she was stuck on her beliefs that if one of them did her wrong then almost all of them were not worth her time. her thinking was not unlike the rest of the water kids, save for the few who actually left their minds open and failed to see the wrong in attempting to socialize with a few of them. jensen's thinking? the traitors of the two elements were the only ones who she would think to socialize. that was the only reason her friendship with josh dale had ever come into existence. had he still be aligned with his element jensen would have turned her nose up at him, probably throwing a few insults and remarks his way on occasion. it turned out they made a friendship instead, which all in all was better, now that she had found herself partial to annabel dale. "that's right. james will never know what hit him," she said confidently. college was a subject that jensen had not given much thought to. she was decent with her classes, excelling with her element and all of those nice things. but she had not thought of life beyond high school, despite it being crucial, since she was graduating at the end of the year. she looked down at annabel, nodding her head slightly, only revealing some of her hesitance to answer the question. "that would make the most sense, yeah. but only if i don't get too carried away with savate," she mused, nodding once again. it all depended on savate, just like everything else in her life. savate, savate, and more savate was the life of jensen brewer. she recalled what it was like being a freshman, new to the system and completely unversed in the way of the waters. jensen had learned quickly, or else she would have been left out of everything and completely alienated from the water tribe. tribe, that was how she had come to affectionately refer to all of the waters. only in the aspect of pranking though, since sometimes they were the most divided or the most close knit when it came to stances on everything else. jensen would never let annabel go on her own, since she knew just how horrid it would be for her to try and learn the ropes on her own. it would end in a disastrous, just like jensen had witnessed last year, when a lone water had tried to prank on their own. jensen pointed to her head with her free hand, showing that she was answering annabel's question with the word "brain." "you think up the things yourself. or, if you are really crafty you can put a spin on pranks done in the past," she informed annabel, speaking excitedly. she was more than happy to fill the freshman in on anything that she wished to know. maybe she would try to make a handbook for annabel, as a sort of guide or something. she scrunched her nose, giving actual thought to the question of old tricks. after some thought she nodded slowly, ready to explain her thoughts on the subject. "yeah, but you need to do it bigger and better than the last person," she told her, cradling the container of worms carefully. needed to make it memorable, or in the end it was just a disappoint on the prankers side. no prankers ever wanted to be a let down, that was the ultimate shame. she glanced down at the worms again, thinking that they were probably the ugliest thing on the face of the planet. "dead leaves and stuff. all of that organic crap," she said shortly, wrinkling her nose at the crawling strings of pink. james was indeed one of the biggest thunder idiots that jensen had ever the misfortune of knowing. he actually swaggered down the hall and collected a posse around him everywhere that he went. he honestly seemed to think that he owned the corridors of the academy. his personality was enough to give ants in his backpack and worms in his pasta. also, his predictability that made him one of the easiest targets in all of the castle. "exactly. i'm proud of you. already a freshman and learning the ropes so quickly." she beamed down at annabel, knowing that this girl had more potential than the rest of the freshman she had viewed over briefly. most of the time she didn't bother with the puny little water kids, because they all turned out to be nothing but hulking letdowns. the water jet wouldn't be bad for her at all, since she had learned to do that at the beginning of her eleventh grade year. now she was working on perfecting everything, being the strongest and most accurate she could be. "okay, can do. as soon as we get into the mess hall be ready to creep over there. i'm going to hand you the worms too. since y'know, i can't do two things at once," she explained in a hasty breath, knowing that they were coming up on the mess hall. the doors were before them and she looked at annabel, giving her a nod of assurance before turning to go and melt away with the group of waters. she waited, kind of just floating to the center of the crowd, until she knew that annabel was tucked away safely. the jet of water came out of nowhere, after jensen had submerged her mind in a figurative sea and gave her arm a cutting swipe over towards the group of thunders. havoc was ready to break loose, which would give annabel the perfect opportunity to do her part. then order would be restored quickly, annabel would slink over to the water table, and they would wait for the glory of their prank to officially happen. Annabel had not really thought about college, being only thirteen years old and all. On one hand she thought that it would be pretty cool learning how to control ice and boost her stamina but on the other it was far away and it meant that she'd have to take extra years of school. She didn't hate school as much as some but she did think that video games were much better. It was hard to get educated with gaming, though, and that was the part about it that really sucked. She blinked at Jensen, confused by the unfamiliar word. "What's savate?" She didn't know whether the girl would explain it to her or not. She'd heard of Jensen from Josh and all but since she'd never hung around the girl in person it meant that she didn't have a clue about what sort of things she was into. So where most who knew the older Water would probably be aware of her craft, Belle was not. "College seems really difficult," she said, scrunching up her nose at the thought. "The only things I like difficult are video games." If games were easy she could beat them with a snap of her fingers. Alright, maybe not that fast, but an easy game was no fun. She liked to be able to get hours and hours of gameplay out of a single title and so if it was both difficult and had a solid replay value she was all over it. Unfortunately there were not a lot of games like that. "And I'm good at games," she added in afterthought, "but not so much at school." Her brother had set the bar so high for being the smart one in the family that Annabel didn't even bother trying to compete with him. Nothing she did in that category would measure up, so she stuck to her own thing and tried not to feel too overshadowed.
Hmm. Annabel considered the answer to her question very seriously. Was she creative enough for that? She was pretty good at coming up with strategies in gaming to outfox her opponents so maybe she'd be good at pranking, too. As it was something that neither of her brothers did she was also excited by the prospect of making a name for herself in the Water dormitories. If she could fit in with them and become as popular as she'd been at her old school, maybe being a Water would not be so bad. "I could probably do that," she said, nodding and sounding confident in herself. She didn't like to sell herself short because then it put a damper on that usually unwavering cockiness and she needed her self-assured personality to get through life comfortably. Where there's a will, there's a way, and Annabel definitely had a lot of willpower. When I can control ice, I'm going to freeze the Thunder dormitories. She didn't like Thunders and she thought it would be funny to see them all shivering and slipping around the floor. Yeah, so she had a bit of a sadistic sense of humour compared to someone in, say, Earth, but that was probably why she wasn't Earth. Annabel didn't mind a fight, either, and wasn't as pacifistic as Nell's element. "Ew. And I thought lettuce was bad enough." She could only eat lettuce if it was on something like a sandwich or drenched in dressing for a salad. It was too crisp and watery otherwise. Dead leaves, though? Hell no. Wouldn't eat it if you paid her.
She glowed with pride when Jensen praised her, grinning but not saying anything so that she didn't sound like she was fishing for more compliments. It was annoying when people did that, after all. Annabel could often be annoying but it was usually in unintentional ways like talking too much or distracting people from other things with her presence. "Gotcha." She accepted the container of worms from Jensen before they entered the mess hall and when they did slowly slipped away from her older friend and tried to look natural as she took the most inconspicuous path toward the Thunder's table. She figured that people might think that the containers were her own lunch snacks and so she wasn't too concerned about them. When she was close enough to the table that she could dash in at the right moment, she turned expectant blue eyes to Jensen and smirked as the jet of water shot over to the table. While everyone was distracted by arguing and fighting, Annabel slipped through the chaos to James' bag. She recognised it from when the dickhead had been carrying it earlier and quickly opened the container of ants, shaking the black creatures into the depths of the bag. A few of them found their way onto her hand but she ignored them, determined to do this right. The worms were next and she did not rush this process too much, wanting to look like she had every right to be doing what she was doing. The deed complete, Annabel ducked under someone's arm and slipped around back to the Water table, grinning at her new friend. "I don't think anyone saw me." That was one good thing about being the shorter one in a crowd, at least.

you're like a hallucinogenic, she forgot sometimes that not everyone else was as well versed as her in the ways of the world. or at least the world that consisted of all things french. her grandparents on her mother’s side were straight out of france and her father was half french himself. her grandfather had been a savate professor and all of her summers since she was a young girl had been spent in the countryside of france. savate had been around her all of her life, just like american kids were surrounded by football and baseball and the english ones played something like cricket. annabel wouldn’t know what savate was, like all of the other kids that went to the academy didn’t know. jensen having to explain what she practically called her life was not something uncommon. “it’s a french sport. basically the french version of kickboxing. it’s kickass,” jensen briefly explained, too wound up over their upcoming prank to delve any further into an explanation. college was still a whole year away, or that was what jensen settled with telling herself. there was still time for her to think about whether or not she cared to go further with her academy teaching. “you could go to a mortal college and major in that techy stuff that allows you design games,” jensen babbled, figuring that was something that a gamer would be content with doing with their life. pranking was an art that jensen took seriously. annabel would need to learn that or jensen would not her waste her precious time trying to teach her. the year before she had tried to pass down all of her learnings in the ways of pranking to a couple freshmen that had caught her interest. it had been the worst experience that jensen could ever recall. they had been nothing but brats, questioning her constantly and going as far to criticize her on the pranks that she had tried to relay to them. what had jensen done in retaliation? they had found their stuff scattered out in the very center of the lake, where they were not able to reach because of their lack of control over their element. that had taught the insignificant group of freshmen that they had no entitlement to question and laugh at anything jensen brewer said or did. annabel seemed to be one who was at least considerate enough to listen to what jensen thought to be the crucials and need to knows of pranking. for that jensen was already partial towards the girl, quickly forming a sort of link with her. soon enough jensen would be looking to her as her prodigy, ready to share with her everything that she knew. “gotta keep the things alive somehow. and that’s what it takes,” she said to annabel, shrugging. it wasn’t too much of a deal, having to collect compost for her insect collection. over time she had become a professional at acting when the situation called for her to keep her cool or completely lose her composure. like the rest of the water kids, jensen threw herself into a state of outrage, feigning that she was offended that the thunder kids would openly point fingers that the water kids who were most known for causing trouble. her name was thrown around but she remained obstinate, hollering at the thunders, finally settling down into a set when a professor decided that things had elevated to a level that was out of control. she sat, collected now, glancing around nonchalantly to try and catch sight of annabel. this was her first test that prove if she were actually worthy of being let into the society of pranksters and all of the wonders that the pranking world held. she was back by jensen’s side before she had even noticed that annabel had completed her assigned roles, grinning widely. jensen nodded to her, offering her a seat that was empty beside her. “look over there, i think that james is about to sit down,” jensen said with glee, anticipating the reaction that they would receive. he was greeted with the worms first, since he scooped up a fork full of pasta and shoveled it into his mouth without knowing what was squirming around in his food. he hollered instantly, causing jensen to cackle. she could not contain her laughter, but she kept it muffled, watching him intently as he spat out the pasta and dug his hands into his pasta, finding that there were plenty of worms hidden among his whole meal.
