Who didn't love Ice cream? Anna did, that was for sure. She didn't care that it was winter, and well, not exactly ice creme weather. She was currently sitting at her house - or rather, laying on the couch. She was looking for a place to move, to get our of her parents house. They got along fine, but she was independent. She wanted to live on her own, or at least out of her parents house. Even living with a friend, sharing rent or something, would be better. She got along okay with her parents, but none the less, everybody wanted to be free and independent. A chance to live on your own. Everybody wanted that, right? Most people did, anyways. The only thing keeping that from happening right now was her lack of a job. She had money, and a bank account. She had a grandmother who put money in her bank account every year.
That came in handy when she needed it, but she had a college fund set up, too. She was going to go to college. Not like her parents, though. She wanted to continue at the elemental college. At least until her music career set off. That was her ultimate goal. She knew she could do it. She was good with music. Guitar, singing, the rest of the instruments she played. She was decent with piano, and had at least tried with just about every instrument. There where some she wasn't that great at, such as the drums. She couldn't figure them out, at least not enough to sound good. Though she took well to writing her own music, and she loved it. She didn't have much of an oppurtunity to perform for people. Occasionally she would sit in the courtyard and play or something, or when she stayed in the dorms, and usually got good comments from people. It would be her dream to hit a record deal or something of the sort.
She sat up, brushing her fingers through her hair before pulling out her phone. She sent a text message to one of her good friends, Devin. Heyyy, DJ, how would you like to meet me for ice cream? Be there in ten? C:
[/i] It was more of a request than a question. She didn't think Devin would say no unless he was busy, but even then, she still wanted ice cream. So she was going to go no matter what. Without waiting for a reply from him, she grabbed her purse and her car keys and headed out to her car. Her family was pretty well off, so in turn, she had a nice car. The silver BMW she had gotten practically brand new. She didn't act spoiled though, she knew that what she had was nice and not to take it for granted. She hopped in the car, and drove to the ice cream parlor. She figured he would get the hint, since this was the best - if not only - place to get ice cream. It was chilly outside, so she was wearing a thin grey sweatshirt over the top of a black tee shirt. She was also wearing a thin, black scarf. More for looks than anything, but she liked it. She usually wore more neutral colors than anything, because of being colorblind. It made certain things difficult, such as making your outfit match. She had her closet organized by color, so that was a bit easier. At least she knew she wasn't going to look like a clown when she went out. Her outfit usually depended on her mood for the day more than anything. She walked into the parlor, and glanced around for a minute before walking to an open table and sitting down. She checked her phone, and decided to wait for DJ. [/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

As per usual, laziness took precedence over everything else. The house was relatively quiet save for the clicking of buttons coming from the living room. The TV was on, characters shuffling about on the screen in high definition (thanks to Judith and some gift money because she could), and on the couch lay a stack of books completely disregarded for the time being. There were papers strewn all around them and on the floor, some notes crumpled and others covered in yellow highlighter. A few more clicks could be heard before a small groan came from the other side of the couch. Devin had—to his chagrin—watch as his character was blown away by a stray grenade. The headset he wore shifted the sound into his head so only he could hear what was going on, but did take a little time to chat with the members of the opposing team afterwards. “I don’t get why you guys have to use a mod in order to win.” The other voice called out over the headset, clearly angry that his team sucked ass and they could not get enough points to gain the victory. Devin, competitive in his video games, laughed and fiddled around with the controller for a few moments. “Don’t be such a pussy. Accept your losses like a man. Then, maybe you’ll start winning.” The other end went silent. Sweet victory.
Just then, the phone in his pocket made a buzzing noise. It made him jump a little not having expected the vibration, but recomposed himself quick enough and looked at the screen with a smile. He had not talked to Anna in quite a while due to end of the school year and trying to wrap everything up before graduation. Was he supposed to be studying? Yeah, probably. He never claimed to be the most diligent student. Removing the headset and shutting off the game before it went into another round, Devin texted back. “Yeah, sure! A bit cold but why not?” He texted back, stuffing the phone back into his pocket before getting up to grab his jacket. The cold was not awful, but certainly not his favorite weather. He preferred the spring time above all other seasons. He zipped up the gray sweatshirt, grabbed his wallet and keys, and left with his skateboard tucked under his arm. Once he hit the sidewalk he took off at a casual roll towards the ice cream parlor. Damn it’s a lot colder with that wind… Devin had to blink a few times just to keep his eyes from drying out. The weather was most certainly on his ‘not so much’ list. After a couple of turns, he strolled himself right in front of the parlor and hopped off the board before going inside. “Ah, hey!” Devin called out once he caught sight of the girl. He made a straight line towards the table and sat down across from her for a moment. “You pick winter of all seasons to crave ice cream,” He noted with a laugh. “But hey, it’s sugar. I guess I can’t deny it too much.”

Anna wasn't exactly the most, how would you say, normal? of people. The ice cream parlor was practically empty when she got there, but who would expect any differently. It was winter, it was cold, who wanted ice cream? She did, of course. It brought a smile to her face when Devin texted her back. She hadn't seen him, or talked to him, in quite a while. With the end of the year approaching, everybody was busy studying. She too, had been, or at least pretending to. With graduation on the horizon it was important to well, graduate. Her fellow seniors and her had planned study dates but usually ended up talking and gossiping rather than studying. She was pretty confident that she would do good on the exams, therefore she was not too worried or stressed about it.
She was greatful she brought her car. She wasn't sure if he would be driving or not, but if it got too cold, they could go sit in her car and talk. It was more of a social outing with the added want for ice cream. She messed with her phone for a few minutes, before hearing a familiar voice. "Heyy." She responded, drawing out the last part of the word as she smiled at him. "Hey, bro, Ice cream is one of those things that's perfect no matter the weather." She laughed a little and shook her head. "Plus, you know me. I like to think outside the box, persay." She nodded a little, as if agreeing with herself. "So let's go order then." She said, hopping out of the chair and smiling at him before going up to the counter to order.
"Hmm..." She said in thought, biting at her lip as she leaned against the counter. "It all looks so good.... I don't know what I waaant." She said in an almost whiny tone, but still smiling as she looked over at Devin. "What are you getting?" She raised and eyebrow, and looked at him for a moment, her bright green eyes dancing before looking back up at the menu. She had too many favorites to decide what to get. She almost just wanted to close her eyes and play 'eenie meanie minie mo.' If she did that though, she might get a strange look from the guy at the counter.

Upon hearing his friend greet him in return, Devin smiled. He enjoyed the company of other people, even if sometimes it wound up in silence (like with Josh, if they decided to hang out and play something like chess). He just enjoyed their presence. Being lonely was a feeling he did not enjoy having around, so friends were always welcome. And when he did get too lonely and no one could be around, he went to parties. Sure, some people didn't approve of it, but Devin did not particularly care. His lifestyle suited him just fine currently. Hitting it and quitting it was a lot safer than dealing with a relationship. Autumn ruined that for him. He hoped that things would change in the future, but was never one to jump too far ahead of himself. "I suppose you're right...wouldn't it be cool if they had ice cream that was warm but didn't melt? Like, just for the winter though. So you could enjoy ice cream without freezing to death." It was a rather grand idea, he thought, to have warm ice cream. But then again that might defeat the purpose of ice cream. Hm. The idea was still a work in progress. "You like going upstream," He added. Salmon found their way back upstream for mating season, but he was more referring to the times when they were supposed to go in the other direction. Salmon were weird.
Devin nodded and got up from the booth, following Anna to the register and standing next to her. The menu above their heads appeared to be a mile long. So many choices! He tapped his chin as she tried to decide on what she wanted, every ice cream calling his name. "I know riiiight? Everything looks so delicious!" Perhaps it was because he was hungry all around, so now everything looked good, but he could not really tell. He had not eaten since breakfast so it was possible. "Hmm. I'm thinking something with chocolate. Maybe mint chocolate chip?" He quirked his eyebrow as he looked over the ice cream flavors in their large tubs. "Maybe...one scoop of chocolate, and one scoop of the mint." He could not remember what Anna enjoyed in the way of ice cream flavors, being as they never really discussed it, so it was hard for him to make any assumptions about it. Devin pulled out his money and set it on the counter in front of the cashier. "Yeah, I think I'm gonna do a scoop of chocolate, and a scoop of mint. And she can get whatever she wants. I'll pay." Devin was good to his friends, and enjoyed doing little things for them to express his appreciation for them. Even if it was something as simple as buying their ice cream. A little gesture went a long way. Well, usually. He flashed her a smile as he took the ice cream from the cashier and waited for Anna to get hers.

Anna hadn't really been too much of a partier. She enjoyed going to them, and she loved to dance, but she was just more of a casual drinker. She never really drank to get drunk, she just drank a little bit if her friends around her where drinking. Truth be told, she was much more into coffee. She could drink coffee all day long, although it seemed to have no effect on her. She went to parties when invited, and she wasn't lame at them. She liked to go out and have fun, but she wasn't into the whole get drunk off your ass and sleep with strangers scene. That just wasn't who she was. "Ooh!" She said, a smile crossing her features. "You really are a genius, Mr. Thatcher. That is an absolutly wonderful idea." She said, laughing quietly. It was, he had a point. "Isn't that almost what that deep fried ice cream is about? I've never had it, but, I imagine something deep fried is probably, you know, warm." She shrugged a bit. "But you never know, bro." She nodded a bit at his comment. "Upstream all day, homie." She said, smirking a little bit. "Sounds like a band name. Upsteam. I could see it." She always paid attention and caught onto those little things. Infact, she wanted to start a band, or atleast some type of musical group, so she was always looking out for those types of things.
Anna bit her lip as she scanned the menu above them. They literally had just about everything. She figured that if she could imagine a flavor of ice cream, this place probably had it. Subconsciencously, she ran her tongue over her lower lip and contemplated between a couple of the flavors. "This really should be almost illegal to have so many tempting flavors. It's going to make us fat." She joked, patting her stomach lightly as she leaned back off the counter. "Mmm, yeah... chocolate sounds great." She said, stressing the word great. She really was a big fan of chocolate. Being a vegetarian she tried to eat pretty healthy, but junk food was her ultimate weakness. Well, that and coffee.
She looked over at him as he ordered, still thinking a bit. "Aww that's sweet. You really don't have to do that." She said, smiling at him. "But if you insist... Thank you." She said, laughing a little as she looked back at the cashier. "Actually, I think I'll get the same thing?" She said, raising an eyebrow as the cashier nodded, and came back a moment later with the ice cream. She took it from the cashier, smiling and nodding at him, before making her way over to the table. She slid back into the seat she was sitting in, and crossed her legs and waited for him. She waited a moment before taking the spoon and taking a bite of the mint ice cream. "mmm,, perfect. You have impeccable taste, my friend." She said, smirking at him a little bit, before brushing a strand of her long, dark hair behind her ear. "So what's new in your life? We haven't really hung out in a while." She said, looking back up at him. "Been busy "studying" for the exams?" She smiled, making air quotes around the word. Knowing him, he had probably been doing the same thing she had been. Pretending to study, but not really ever getting around to it.

“I know, I’m a blonde Einstein.” Devin grinned from ear to ear, clearly proud of his idea. He did wonder if that was possible in the future when new technology came out. Things were always being invented and put out on the market. Maybe it could happen one day. He shook his head a bit. “Actually, the ice cream in deep fried ice cream is still cold. They flash fry it so it doesn’t melt.” He was always so full of random bits and pieces of information really, like Wikipedia. Type in whatever it was you were interested in learning about, and he could spout off at least one or two facts to get you started. He had to admit that he would go through and edit Wiki pages when he was bored. Not everyone had their facts straight, so best to fix that right? Devin watched her for a moment; she was constantly trailing from one thought to the next, which was rather endearing. He was a bit of a thought drifter himself so he could understand how random they must sound when something suddenly pops into their head and they say whatever is on their mind. Devin managed to rein it in for the most part because not everyone did well with a chatterbox. Luckily most of his friends did not mind so he had a bit more free reign around them than with others.
He laughed at her comment, also poking at his own stomach which was rather flat. “I know right? We’re gonna wind up rolling ourselves out of here. Us and our immense fatness.” His blue eyes shone with amusement. The image in and of itself made him shake his head; he could simply not imagine either of them getting fat and living off of ice cream forever. Hell, he might. You never know with him. “You can never go wrong with chocolate, Anna.” Devin replied with a shake of his finger. You could not really go wrong with any form of junk food, but chocolate was definitely one of his favorites. That and soda. He loved soda. “It’s no problem, of course,” Devin waved it off as though it were no big deal, then stepped back as Anna made an identical order to his own. Mint chocolate chip and chocolate ice cream sounded like a pretty delicious mix to him. Once they both gathered up their ice cream and he received his change, Devin followed his friend back to the table and sat back down across from her. The ice cream was, of course, amazing. He made a faint hum in his throat to signify that he was happy with his choice. He shrugged. “Nothing is really new, actually. Just ready to graduate and get out of highschool. What about you?” He was not school material, and most of his friends knew it. He was even second-guessing college. A smile graced the boys lips as she mentioned ‘studying’; that was also something his friends knew quite well: he was a procrastinator through and through. “Oh yeah. Video gaming it up and everything! No better way to study in my opinion.”

Devin wasn't stupid by any means, but "Einstien" was maybe a bit of an exaggeration. But she would let him live out in his moment. "Oh yes, you should get a noble prize or something for your accomplishments. That invention could change the world, you know." She smiled at him a little, while trying not to make it seem like a joke. That didn't really happen much, not for her anyways. She was a joker, and had a habit of being almost too sarcastic sometimes. But hey, around her friends, who cared? Devin knew her well enough to know that. At his explanation of how they deep fried ice cream, she raised an eyebrow. " Really? Damn. I never would have guessed that. Nor have I heard of this 'flash freezing.' Think I am a bit behind times, homie." She laughed a little, more at herself than anything. The thought of frying and freezing something at the same time was a total mind fuck. But hey, anything is possible in this day and time, right? Right.
Anna was far from being fat, and so was Devin, but joking about it didn't hurt anything. Esspecially since they both knew they were far from it. "Think it's almost time we become sumo wrestlers." She said, flexing her arm and poking the tiny muscle there. "I think I could take you." She looked over at him and smiled, obviously joking. She loved her junk food, although she was a vegeterian. She had a weakness for junk food, and energy drinks. There really wasn't anything better than a massive energy boost that you really didn't need to get you through the day. "I have to agree. Chocolate is simply the best. Or well, close to it anyways." She truthfully had a weakness for strawberry flavors, but she loved chocolate too. She nodded at his comment. "Mmm, yes I agree. I'm ready to graduate, persue my music career. And well, go to collage." She shrugged a bit at the mention of collage. Her parents where forcing her to go, or she would be solely focused on music. All of her friends knew that, she didn't want to go to school any more. "Is that right?" She smirked, and raised an eyebrow at him. "We should "study" together soon then, so I can kick your ass in that video game. Again." She winked at him, the smirk still playing at her lips. While she didn't play them often, she had to admit, she was pretty good at video games. Well, some of them. They where fun anyways, when you played them with friends.

Devin loved the joking back and forth with friends, especially about stupid things like inventing warm ice cream for the winter months. He thought it was a rather genius idea and somewhere in his subconscious he hoped no one would steal his idea and make millions of dollars off of it. How depressing that would be. “Ohh, I should probably let someone else get the Nobel prize this year,” He shook his head and feigned lament over the fact that he was just too damn smart for his own good. “I get so many of them, my closet is overflowing with them! I’ll hold off this time.” If the boy would put his mind to his schoolwork he might actually be able to do something with his intelligence. As it was, Devin was lazy and would much rather absorb his soul into a video game than spend time doing school work. It was boring. He wished he could have the same drive Josh did when it came to academics. Devin tsked her and smiled a little bit. “Wikipedia is good for that shit. Amazing what you can learn!” Like learning about blowfish and how they were not poisonous to the touch but they could kill you if you ate one. Random little things like that were stored in his mental storage unit to be used at a later date. Some facts were never used, but they existed none the less. If only Devin used it for his benefit. Not going to happen.
He laughed and flexed his own arm muscle. It was not the epitome of awesomeness but it did exist and was enough to give his arm definition. Amazing considering he rarely worked out. “We could be the skinniest sumo wrestlers in the world. It would be a record! And maybe they’ll pit us against real wrestlers to test our awesomeness.” Okay, so that would be scary as fuck but that was beside the point. It was fun to have aspirations that would never come true. In this case it was probably for the best, being as Devin was nowhere near fighter material and would lose within the first five seconds of the first round. Ding ding ding! Instant K.O.! If not for his best friend and the select others who stood up for him he would probably be a permanent punching bag for the Fires and Thunders. “Chocolate is a girls’ best friend.” He said with a feminine flair to his voice. Ever the jokester, and comfortable in his sexuality. He was far from gay or being a girl. Devin wrinkled his nose slightly. “Ew. College. I’m going too but I’m not really looking forward to it.” That required more studying and school books and boring professors and more studying. Oh well; at least he could continue to perfect his procrastination skills by playing video games and partying it up with friends. “Again?” The blonde quirked an eyebrow. “I probably let you win that round. We’ll see about next time, won’t we? I have to keep up my title and image.” He puffed up his chest a bit in exaggeration and chuckled. If there was one thing he was confident about, it was video games.

Devin was a smart boy, Anna knew that much. It wasn't like he was stupid, he was just like her - Lazy. Though she was maybe not as bad as him. Though she was easily distracted. More than easily, it was like anything could distract her. "Oho, right." She said, laughing a little sarcastically. "I forgot you get them like alll the time." She said, waving it off like it was no big deal. "I wish I could be as awesome as you. Jeez." She huffed and rolled her eyes. She was always joking around with friends like Devin. "Wow, maybe I should start looking up random shit more often. Then maybe I can be like a walking encyclopedia." She said, nodding a little, as if she was serious. She thought it could come in handy, storing random useless facts that nobody really cared about. She could hardly compute multiplication in her head, but knowing random facts about everything and everybody? She could do that.
Anna nodded a little as he flexed his muscle and poked it. "I think yours might deflate. Keep it away from needles." She said, winking at him. She knew he didn't work out a lot, but he was still decently muscular. At least enough to have tone. Most guys did though. It seemed more natural for them, then for girls. Anna didn't really have any extraordinary muscle. "I second that motion. I say we can be a tag team. We can take down anything in our path." She nodded her head once. "Nothing can beat the team of Anna and Devin." Though she thought to herself, fighting a real sumo wrestler, would probably be one of the scariest things she could ever imagine happening. One of them could flatten us both in one belly flop. She shook off the thought, her hair waving a little as she did so. She turned her attention back to Devin. She just laughed at his chocolate comment, before nodding. "Of course it is. I have my own stash in my room." It was true, she did. Always need to have chocolate for emergencies. "Me neither, it just isn't my thing. But at least I am hoping to move out soon, once I find a place. Then I can be out from under my parent's constant watch, and collage might be a tad bit more enjoyable, anyways." She figured it would be. Then she could have a little more fun, anyways. She raised an eyebrow and smirked at his next comment. "Let me win? Oho, we will see about that, bro. Your on." She laughed a little, and folded her arms over her chest. She really was not that great at video games, but hey, acting confident was always a plus, right?

Devin flashed Anna a bright smile. "Yep! All day, every day. They are forever mailing those things to me. I think it makes people jealous but haters gonna hate." He stuck his nose up into the air with a dramatic flair, but could refrain from laughing afterward. He was not an extremely serious person, thus he had a hard time keeping a straight face when he was joking around with other people. If he were trying to have a real conversation, something solemn and requiring him to be rid of the jokes and smiles, then it was easy enough to change. That did not mean he was going to avoid trying to make the other person smile and laugh later on if they were feeling down or were upset. He enjoyed watching his friends be happy. Devin's gaze went distant, but it was more as a pre-effect to his next words. "Dude, a book with legs. Do you know how creepy that would be? And when you tried talking to people you just flipped open the pages and made sentences appear." What a random but unnerving thought! It was amazing what sorts of things you could come up with when in a silly conversation with a friend. Seriously though: a book with legs would be creepy as fuck. End of story.
"Hey now, be nice to my squishy muscles. You might hurt their feelings." And then they would never want to buff up later on down the road when he actually got around to working out. Maybe. He was not good at being consistent with things or creating a routine. A daily workout routine would be serious mindfuck. "Yeah! Both of us together could equal..." Devin thought on it for a moment. "At least half of a sumo wrestler. That could count for something right?" Obviously they would never stand a chance against any sort of wrestler, even together, but this was all in fun. When would they ever run into a sumo wrestler here in the Hollow? Awkwardness. He smiled and nodded. "I keep a basket of random candy and shit in my kitchen." So then when he had a sudden craving for sweets he had immediate access. He tilted his head a little bit to prove he was listening as he continued to eat his ice cream. "Yeah, having your own place makes things a lot easier. No stress from family and you can kinda enjoy having space without people all up in your business." Devin was already planning on moving back in with Judith and Athena once she moved back into the Hollow from the U.S. He was independent but living in that apartment by himself was getting a bit too lonely. It reminded him of Autumn, too, and that bothered him even more. Devin smirked and lifted his chin. "Definitely. I'm gonna take you on and I'm gonna kick your ass. You won't even know what hit you." Would he lose? Maybe a round or two. He was a good gamer but he could admit he was not pure awesome like he wanted to be.

Anna merely smiled and rolled her eyes a bit as his comment. "It's err' day. Get it right, Mr. Nobel Prize." She couldn't help but laugh almost a little loudly and shake her head. She was obviously kidding, but she liked the joke like that. She got it from Nell, she was pretty sure. She was never this weird until she met that girl. It was like being crazy was contagious. Maybe it was contagious? What a thought that one was. She decided that maybe she would have to look into that. Could become a millionaire off that shit. Anna blinked a few times at his next comment. "Whoa, dude, your so right." Her voice almost had the tone of a stoner when she said it, but that was the effect she was going for. "Pretty sure if I ever saw a book with legs I would run like hell out of there." It was true though. That would have to be one of the creepiest thoughts that ever passed through her mind. A book with legs would be creepier than well... anything else with legs. For the most part. Except maybe a fish..
"I'm sorry muscles." She whispered, patting his arm affectionately. "Wouldn't want them to run away or something. Then you'd really be screwed." She said, laughing at him a little. He really wasn't though. He was a sweet guy, so didn't think he had trouble getting people to like him, even without the muscles. Whether it was in a romantic way or just a friendly way. His friendly personality was certainly a plus on his part. Hell, Anna was pretty sure he was another one of those people who made her so .. jokey all the time. Him, Nell, and Ashton. Those three turned her into the person she was today. At least she thought that, it made it sound like a dedication. "Half a sumo wrestler is better than.. a quarter of a sumo wrestler." She smirked a little bit at him. Neither of them where big enough to probably even equal that. "But really man.. that would be almost as scary as the book with legs..." And that was true. Could you imagine a sumo wrestler sized book with legs? Terrifying. "Yeah, would just be easier, if you know. I had money or something." She snorted and shook her head. "But oh well. Might just end up moving in with a friend if it comes down to it." She said shrugging. That might be the better idea anyways, so she wouldn't be alone all the time. Nobody wanted to be alone all the time. "Keep telling yourself them." Anna said, taking a bite of her ice cream and smiling at Devin. She was definitely going to lose but hey, gave her an excuse to spend time with her friend right?
