Ironically, despite that his favourite season was spring and that he hated the winter, Christmas was Joshua's favourite time of year. It was a time for family and giving people gifts without it being considered 'strange' to do so. A perfect excuse to shower his friends in material displays of his affection. He put a lot of thought into Christmas and he was the exact opposite of a Scrooge. He wanted to make sure the house looked nice, too, and so while the staff were released from their jobs for the holidays (hey, Josh wasn't an asshole, thank you very much!) he was more than content to help clean up himself. "Why are you so happy?" Annabel asked Joshua in a skeptical tone when he flopped down on the couch beside her with a broad grin and a, "Yo, sis." To answer her question, he replied, "It's the holidays, Belle. Christmas spirit!" Of the few things his mother had passed down to him, love of Christmas seemed to be one of them. Except that wasn't really genetic, so it was more like he'd gotten used to her holiday spirit growing up and had adapted to it. Annabel liked it for the presents. "Just as long as you don't start singing Christmas carols, we're good." She was joking but her expression changed when she saw his face. "Josh!" As she'd probably predicted, he broke out into the chorus of Jingle Bells and brought her into a headlock, ruffling her hair. "You know I'm only messing with ya," he said lightly, grinning. "And my hair," she grumbled, straightening it with her fingers when he let go.
"What do you want?" she asked in exasperation, for she had been watching something on television when he had so kindly interrupted. Oh, siblings. "Quality time with my baby sister. Is that a crime?" She kept her eyes trained on the screen despite the fact that it had since went to commercials, probably trying to get him to take the hint. He had long since realised that she probably wanted to watch her show but there was something about being a big brother that made annoying your little sister entertaining. Like a game, as long as you didn't take it too far of course. He knew she would do the same thing to him and so there was very little guilt. "It's a crime," she confirmed. "Now go away." He messed up her hair again, delighting in the angry 'ugh!' he got in reply. Glaring at him, she caught his expression and apparently gave up being angry, chuckling and shoving him. Or, well, attempting to shove him. At six foot three and twenty pounds shy of two hundred, he was not exactly light as a feather. "Seriously, Josh, I've been waiting all week for this special. Why don't you go bother Nell?" He wanted to 'bother' Nell, actually, but he couldn't. "She's not home from work, I'm waiting for her. Gonna take her out to dinner." Nell didn't know this, of course, but he was pretty determined to go. It was food, nothing wrong with that, right? "Ooh. Like a date?" Annabel liked Nell and she liked her brother with Nell. It was nice to have her approval. "Like a date," he agreed. "I'll leave you alone now." His tone was softer as he relented, going up to the room to read until his fiancée got back. It was weird having nothing to do during break.
When he heard the car in the driveway, Joshua went down into the front foyer so he could greet Nell upon her entering of the house. "Hey there, pretty lady," he said with a teasing smirk, pulling her into a kiss and revelling in the closeness for a long moment before he pulled back. It was hard to detach himself sometimes. Nell was like a drug or something. Shaking that off, he wondered, "How was work?" It was said with more concern than usual, knowing who she had to work around. The thought of Jane made Joshua's skin crawl. He hated the woman and everything that she stood for. It had been different when Nell had worked at the day care around kids, which she liked, but this was Jane. Nell could be working as a damn taste-tester and Jane's presence would probably spoil it. Should have kept the bitch in jail. Jail was where people like her belonged. "I hope you're hungry," he said in a casual tone, "because we're going to Nothern tonight. So go get ready!" He grinned, his good mood rather apparent. When was he not cheerful during the holidays? Well, there were ups and downs of course, but it was usually a pretty good time for him. Much better than last year, when Nell had still been depressed and the shock of the trial hadn't worn off. "Oh, and it's a date," he added, nodding to affirm this. Hopefully she was okay with it. He'd said it as if she had no say in the matter but of course if Nell was opposed to it she could always back out. He figured she knew him well enough by now to know this, so he didn't bother pointing it out.

Nell pushed open one of the large doors to the house, scanning the seats and ignoring the people there at first when she spoke into the walky. ”I don’t see anything, are you—hold on.” She dropped her arm, realizing the people next to the stage weren’t supposed to be there. She headed down the steps and asked one o them, ”Why’re you all in here?” Hands in his pockets, he shrugged. ”Jane told us to fix the lighs on the stage.” Nell shook her head. ”You guys can go.” He gave her a twisted little grimace. ”She said she’d fire of us if we said anything against it.” The man seemed to stop short of saying anything else as the woman materialized on the steps, walking down to them, all smiling and happy-go-lucky. ”Jane, please stop harrassing my employees.” Nell guided the woman further away so that the others couldn’t hear the conversation. ”The lights needed attending to. I was simply picking up your slack. Thought it might be a better solution than going to Harold with it.” How did that man feel? Did he know he was caught in a tug of war between two opposing forces?
Her walky sounded again and Nell left her aunt, telling the group that they could go. She dropped her walky off in the office before heading to the parking lot. She was stopped short by Mr. Hart, noticing the broad grin on his face and giving a small one of her own, as if trying to hide her mischeviousness. ”Oh, thank you, Nell,” he said, grabbing her cheeks and kissing her on the forhead. She laughed lightly. ”What a wonderful surprise! Though I have to wonder, how did you get all those sunflowers in my office?” She winked at him. ”I have my ways. Happy holidays.” She waved as they parted. Getting in the car, she left the door open as she started it, just in case the ignition stalled and she needed to run, duck, and cover. But it started without a hitch, and she wondered how long she’d be paranoid for. Her home wasn’t too comforting since it really wasn’t home, and she took off her heels, deciding against the urge to throw them. Nell’s concerns eased when she saw the one person she actually wanted to see.
She smiled when he kissed her and she wrapped an arm around his neck, the other hand holding her shoes. Nell gave a half-smile when he asked her about work. "Pretty good," she told him. "Jane's been impeding on my territory." She rolled her eyes. "But I got to give Mr. Hart his present...s." She added on the 's' as she thought about it. Nell blinked and tilted her head with a 'hmm' sound in her throat. Her eyes brightened and she laughed a bit. "So you're kidnapping me." She sighed jokingly, and she put on her shoes again. He said it was a date and she shook her head, still smiling. A date? That meant he was planning to pay, which she'd gotten comfortable with. Especially now that she was getting a good pay flow, even though a lot of it was going toward Rafael.
She simply changed out of her pants, putting on tweed ones, and grabbing a box of crayons and a few coloring pages, stuffing them into a purse. When they were seated at the table, she pulled out her coloring supplies and told Josh. "They need to be more family friendly. Get a few TVs with the games on." She liked the restaurants that gave out the placeholders and crayons and those colorful straws. Of course, Northern was a fancier place than that. "Here," she said, holding out one of the pages as she kept coloring in the page. "Color on some farm animals." Nell finished up a coloring a giraffe when the server came over. And what a familiar server it was. "Hello, hello," Nell balanced the crayon on her upper lip, leaning back in the chair, not seeming bothered by Enzair Phoenix's presence.

It has been quite a busy day so far, for now it was settling down, an hour ago the place as almost full, now the tables are mostly empty and readied to accept more customers. Right now Enzair was cleaning up one table as the two talked. Where he then brought the platter full of dish’s to the kitchen. Once he entered the kitchen the aroma of delicious food cooking filled his nose.
“Hell of a day?” said Enzair to the washer who was almost swamped with dishes, where Enzair proceeded to empty the large platter of dish’s into a wash tray.
“Hm… yea, I only wish Thomas would come in today and help me with all this,” Said Jordy.
“Bet that lazy ass called in sick again... well I got to get going more people to serve,” Commented Enzair before leaving, once he closed the door behind him he saw two familiar people enter, Nell and Joshua. Straightening his black waiters vest he approached the table they had seated at.
“Good Evening Nell, Josh... Have you preordered you dinners or do you want a menu?” asked Enzair, for now Enzair was ignoring his feelings, as to not to hurt reputation of the restaurant and mostly to keep his evening job. These two were the last Enzair would ever expect to come here; hopefully nothing bad will happen here like at the academy.
Speaking of those incidents Enzair should be wearing a cast but today he is just wearing a thin arm brace lined with a few metal plates to provide extra support a to prevent any damaged to the already damaged muscles. His boss knew but did not mind since his job is already a light lifting.

Her arm around his neck, his hand playing through her hair, Joshua had quite the difficult time detaching himself from his fiancée. He was nevertheless relieved by her reply when he did pull back and question her, for he often worried about any situation involving her family. Jane. The woman should have been behind bars but then when did the world ever work the way that it should? "Oh?" It was a question, a request for elaboration. "I hope she isn't giving you too much trouble?" The thought of her made him want to punch something. A lot of things made him feel that way but Jane held a special place in his heart. After he'd witnessed her threatening Nell he did not think he could ever believe she had good intentions. He wished there was something that he could do about it but in remembering the ease in which she'd drained his strength with a single attack, he knew he stood no chance against her. This bugged him. He didn't like being powerless. Giving gifts was fun, though, and his expression brightened at mention of them. "Were they well-recieved?" It always sucked when someone didn't appreciate the thought that went into a present. Joshua liked gifting his friends but that did not necessarily mean his judgements were always as sound as he thought. Nothing was perfect, no one was perfect. Though how anyone could be unappreciative of someone as great as Nell, he didn't know. (Josh was biased, of course, but what can you do?)
"Sorry," he said apologetically when she mentioned the word 'kidnap', though he obviously didn't mean it. Joshua was already dressed for the evening out but he went upstairs to check his appearance briefly in the mirror, make sure he didn't look scruffy. He ran a hand over his jaw, frowning at his reflection. Clean-shaven as usual. He really didn't think he looked good with facial hair. Some guys could pull it off, he was not one of them. As long as Nell didn't demand he grow a moustache it was fine by him. He raised his brows at Nell when she pulled the colouring pages out of her bag. "Seriously?" He sounded amused as he shook his head at her. "I love you. Never change, really." Just when he thought he'd seen everything with her, she did something else that surprised him. It was usually small things like this, pulling crayons and colouring pages out in the middle of a fancy-schmancy restaurant, but even the little things counted. In the end he ended up being more captivated by her than anything else, watching her with an entertained expression as she coloured in what looked like a giraffe. It was upside-down on his end and so he couldn't judge too accurately. "Should we do something for Christmas? Like a party?" Annabel had brought it up with him at one point and he'd made a mental note to ask his fiancée about it. He liked holidays and he liked parties but the decision was up to Nell, as well. "It could be fun. Unless you've got other plans, of course." There was always a chance she had something up her sleeve.
He glanced toward the waiter when their table was approached and raised his brows when he saw who it was, remembering their last encounter with unfortunate clarity. He glanced protectively at Nell, saw that she looked fine, then back at Enzair. He wondered if the other elemental was going to make any snide comment or give them a dirty look but it seemed he understood the meaning of professionalism. Joshua reigned in his own acidic tongue in respect for the fact that he was with his fiancée and he didn't want to spoil the night. It was a date, not a fight. "Hello. We'll need menus, thanks." His tone was controlled, polite, a demonstration of the fact that he didn't try to turn absolutely everything into a confrontation. It was not just because Nell was there (though that, admittedly, was a very large part of it) but because they were in a public place.

How much trouble was Jane really giving her? Her simple existence was distressing. But everything else...she thought about Lark and about her threats and about the fact that she had to check her bag and her car all the time. Even still, Nell understood that it wasn't the worse she could do. It would never be the worse, though, because Jane wouldn't kill her. And it wasn't just her mind's adamant refusal of the idea of anyone wanting to kill her--it was hard for anyone to comprehend that. There was a specific reason, and Nell had to wonder if it would do more bad than good in the future. "No, not too much trouble," she said. All the woman did today was crowd a space that was supposed to be clear and order something that was under Nell's jurisdiction. She could deal with that. What she couldn't deal with was Jane laying a hand on anyone else. But what power did she have against the machine that was Jane and her family? "I should say so." Mr. Hart had promised a present for her, and it had turned into a little debate since Nell refused. She didn't like getting presents, but she didn't want to tell the kindly man this. He seemed very enthused to be spreading the holiday spirit, decorating the lobby in red and green lights, menorahs.
Nell smiled at her fiance before refocusing on the coloring. Since he didn't take the pages, she just set them aside to do them herself later. Now, she was moving on to animals of the African safari. "I'll try not to," she said lightly when he told her not to change. Her stomach tied itself in rather pleasant knots at that. Even though she didn't know exactly what he meant by not changing. Change what? There was nothing about her that she could change, right? Nell tried not to think of it, fearing a brain aneurysm. A Christmas party. She bit on the crayon as she considered it. There was no question that she wanted a party, she just didn't know much about Christmas parties except the one last year. "Sounds like a great idea!" she told him succinctly before returning to her coloring. Then she blinked, put the crayon down. "But...actually...I might have to work Christmas day." Those would certainly be other plans. Ones that could get in the way of what she wanted. This was the daily grind, though, this was what everyone in the world experienced. She understood why people complained about their jobs if they never would.
Nell let Josh answer about the menu, propping her chin up before making an 'ah' sound. "So this is where you work. Was wondering about that paycheck of yours." It had been a nagging curiosity before since he thought it would be nothing to just bet five grand. She still couldn't get over that. Even now, that was a lot of money. Josh had more than that, yes, but she did not. And she never would, never wanted to. In her belief, it was the money that had corrupted the Fuentes. Or the American dream. One of them. "How's your arm doing?" Nell asked, wondering if Enzair had gone to see a doctor or anything about ti recently. Casts seemed more like a nuisance than anything. She wouldn't be pleased to wear one around all the time, that was for sure. "Should you even be working with that?" Her question was joking, though she had to admit, it must have been hard to serve with that thing on his arm.

((In our other post Nell Enzair will tell you how he got the cast, a fight with an earth elemental, he broke his arm but Enzair disabled him using pressure points then broke his ribs by kicking him on the side when he was already down))
“Yes I have, it’s slow but I suffice, probably shouldn’t but were short on staff this month,” said Enzair, every time he carried those large metal platters full of dish’s put strain on his arm and he could feel that dull pain. Enzair was a bit curious of why in the hell would she care about his arm? Earths, always sympathetic a good thing really, Enzair would rather be saved by an earth elemental than die so it good he guesses. He then nodded toward Joshua and then headed off to the corner the restaurant where the menus were kept behind the counter there.
Enzair walked behind the counter kneeled down and grabbed a couple menus, he then stood back up, tapping the menus in his hand on the desk to straighten them in his hand. He then grabbed a couple 4 paged beverage pamphlets, mostly alcohol drinks, 1 page was a list of other drinks like coffee, tea, lemonade’s, milkshakes and so on. All milkshakes are made with real fruit none of the synthetic or preservative shit.
Enzair walked back to their table and handed Nell and josh a Menu and Beverage pamphlet. “I’ll be back in a few if you need anything,” Said Enzair before bowing his head briefly and moving on to work on other tables, right now he began cleaning one up.
Before starting Enzair rubbed his left arm, still not use to the feeling and right now it was rather soar, it ached a bit but he had to keep working regardless of the faint dull pain.

He grinned when Nell agreed to the idea of a party, actually quite excited by the prospect. Nell went back to colouring and he started to think of who on his list of friends he'd like to invite when the sound of crayon being set down on wood directed his attention back to his fiancée. Though he said nothing, his expression asked for him, "Something up?" She told him and he twitched his lips in a sympathetic sort of smile. Oh, having to work when everyone else was at play. He'd been there before like all the other working people on the planet. Everyone experience it at least once. "Well it doesn't have to be on Christmas day," he said with an easy shrug. "We can have it whenever." He hadn't been asked to come into work Christmas day but they'd been asking for volunteers for who would hang around. The elderly that he worked with did not just stop existing because it was Christmas, after all. The home would be open and decorated for Christmas with the families of those staying there hopefully dropping in for a chat. Joshua had thought about it but he had Annabel and he was pretty sure she'd be upset with him if he missed out on Christmas when he didn't have to. "Hell, New Years if we want to. Parties are fun." The sort of party they'd be able to throw would be a lot less sketchy than the house parties with drugs and alcohol abound. They had a nice house and hopefully a nice circle of friends who would understand the meaning of "don't destroy our shit".
He was not quite sure what to make of the exchange with Enzair and Nell, realising that they might know one another. He hoped that his fellow Fire was not giving Nell any kind of trouble but it didn't seem like Nell was hostile and so Joshua kept his mood neutral. "Because of holidays?" It was just a guess but he figured it might be an accurate one. A place as flashy as Northern Lights could definitely afford to hire a full team of staff but forcing them all to work during the winter holidays was a different story entirely. Joshua would normally have made a snide comment about how the Earth whom Enzair had taken out after the breaking of his arm might not be doing so well but he didn't know enough of the situation for that. Besides, professionalism. With Nell so close, Joshua wondered if his fiancee knew the word that Enzair had used to describe her. Whore. It angered him for a moment but he kept a hold on the rage, not wanting to rile himself up in such a place. "Will do," he said, and there was a slight strain in his voice to suggest that he was not as calm as he might have looked. He was good at hiding things but his anger was paramount, it took precedence over almost everything else. When Enzair had gone, Joshua exhaled. "Do you know him well?" It wasn't a hostile question, more like a curiosity. An old friend of mine. Not yours, I'm assuming. He left this last bit out, deciding to wait for her answer before saying anything else on the matter.
He was feeling indecisive as he looked over the menu, not sure if he wanted to order the sort of thing that he usually did or whether he wanted to experiment. He was not totally opposed to trying a dish that he hadn't before as long as it did not interfere with his vegetarian diet. "Is Jane the reason you're working on Christmas?" He was curious about this, wondering if her aunt held the sort of power to mess with her job, pull the strings. The woman was in the mob, after all. It seemed silly to devote so much time to messing with Nell but he was not Jane, he did not know how her mind worked. It probably had a lot to do with the fact that Nell had killed her mother but he still didn't think it was justified. Still hated Jane. When Enzair returned to their table, Joshua said, "Can I get a glass of water?" He always liked to wet his throat a little before the meal came so that he didn't end up drinking too much when he got the meal itself, thus ruining it for himself. "Oh, and are there any specials going on? I'm vegetarian, but..." They were large enough that they often catered to all types. Vegan, vegetarian, sushi-lovers, meat-lovers, everyone. A fancy restaurant, it would be a shame if they didn't for the price they made people pay. Not that he was concerned about how much money he'd need to shell out of his wallet at the end. "Do you know what you want yet, Nell?" He wasn't pushing her into ordering, merely wondering.
[Tried to juggle and give you both stuff to work with xD]

It was poopy that she had to work on Christmas, most likely, but hell would freeze over before she opened her mouth to utter a complaint. Who would want a complainer working for them? So she brightened considerably when Josh said that they didn’t have to have it on Christmas. ”Oh, all right,” she said cheerfully, obviously not knowing that was an option. Was it really okay to celebrate holidays a little early or late? Was there some traditions that shouldn’t be violated? She was raised believing that traditions were to be upheld. Not that she really had Christmas celebrations. Her father would buy the family some things, they’d have a hatstand that the girls would decorate with whatever their father brought them. As children, no one really knew if they were poor, and they certainly didn’t think of themselves as poor. Food came to them every day, even if it meant that their parents couldn’t eat. Things may have changed later on, but that was something else. ”Yeah,” she said with a giggle. Of course parties were fun! Well, she was sure some people would like to disagree, people who enjoyed solitude and quiet evenings. She could do whatever. Nell didn’t know about New Year’s parties, really, what to do for them. Were there special kind of lights? She didn’t remember any from last year. But maybe in her daze she’d missed certain things.
She flashed a little bit of a smile, though it was empty of the little warmness. ”Consider it penance,” Nell told him. ”Messing with us…” And by ‘us’ she clearly meant Earth, but she couldn’t necessarily go ahead and say that in front of people, could she? Even still, she didn’t wish something like that on Enzair. She empathized with everyone, even Fire graduates who really should leave her family alone. Keeping the peace, as usual. She blinked when she noted Josh’s tone of voice, but didn’t pay too much attention to it. Nell knew that Enzair didn’t like him, so she figured that the feeling was mutual. Zebra will have…pink and blue stripes. She colored a stripe before looking back up at Josh. She pursed her lips a bit before shaking her head. ”Not really.” she replied honestly. ”The most I know about him is that he likes to burn notebooks and enjoys explosions. And apparently doesn’t understand money.” Nell felt the same desire to know him like she did everyone else, but she still wasn’t going to make friends with him. She could behave herself, especiall when it came to someone who insulted her element. ”We made a bet. He fronted five grand.” She snorted, switched colors. ”Like I have five grand to shell out willy nilly.” Nell couldn’t spend that kind of money, wouldn’t even want to. She did what she could to keep herself good.
One thing she could spend money on, however, was food. She was half-tempted to doodle on the menus, but reminded herself that this was Northern, not some place where servers wear suspenders and buttons. She lifted the crayon and then dropped it back on the table, before shaking her head at the question, eyes on the menu for a moment. ”Nah, Mr. Hart asked me if I could work and I said that I could.” She couldn’t say no to people, let alone someone like the stocky old man with hair coming out of his ears. He’d said that he’d dress up as Santa Claus, and that might have been the highlight of that day. Especially when Jane was around to make it so much worse for her. Jane had tried something like that before, though, so it wouldn’t be honestly surprising. She waited for Josh to speak, and nodded when Josh asked her if she was ready. Holding up a finger to list off, she said, ”I would like a clams casino, calamari, and bruschetta. Uh…for soup it’d be split pea. And a garden salad. And…for entrées I’m thinking of ravioli and the smoked salmon. And can I have asparagus on the side? With a plate of rice.” She said it slowly so that he could get it all, and finished with, ”That’s all.” Nell wasn’t including any desert right now, wanting to give Enzair a break.

((I don’t know how specials work so I will let you chose what they are))
Once Enzair finished unloading the dish’s he flexed his left hand a bit before continuing out, perhaps he should have took the week off too, his arm was bothering, him, yesterday it did not because there was not nearly as many people here.
Enzair then heard a voice behind him say, “Are you doing fine? Your arm not giving you any trouble is it?”
Turning around to face his boss, a 33 year old man named Tyler. “I am doing fine sir, just a busy day,” Enzair replied hiding the fact his arm IS bothering him lately.
“I should hope so, because I need you to work the Holiday, unless your arm is worse than you make it out to be,” Said Tyler.
‘seriously? Work Christmas!?’ thought enzair, Tyler was a real ass boss, it’s a no wonder no one likes him, he would be lucky if he had friends. Taking a deep breath enzair answered, “I can work.”
Enzair was not going to bother questioning him, he is a greedy royal pain in the ass jerk, he will fire you without even a blink of the eye if you ever said no. he expected high standards from his workers, sometimes too high, its hard to get a job here and keep it as long as enzair had, the cook does not count, the only person the boss is scared of is the cook, because if the cook quits the restaurants rating drops like a rock because there is no other cook in this small town as good as that guy, even in the few surrounding towns.
Once he left enzair clenched his fist in bitter hatred for that guy, burying this anger with his irritation he went back to work, and returned to Joshua’s and Nell’s table to see if they have chosen something. Once Joshua asked if there were any specials Enzair began to name them off. After that he wrote down Nell’s order.
“I’ll be right back with your water sir,” Said Enzair rather professionally. Retrieving the water with ice as well as a couple glasses on a small platter he returned to the table and poured them a glass of ice water. Usually there is water already set at the table, but because of how busy it is tonight and short on staff not all the tables were fully prepared before more guests arrived to enjoy a fancy meal, and this table unfortunately so happened to be one of those tables, it had the coffee cups, a small side plate and proper silverware, basically everything but water.
“Have you chosen yet?” asked Enzair preparing to write it down.

He was glad she was still on board with the idea of the party even though she had work on the day itself. Looking on the bright side as he thought of his friends and the people he'd probably want to invite, he mused, "Hey, it's probably better this way. Everyone will be with family on Christmas but if we catch 'em a few days early more people will be able to come." Having all his friends in one place for a day would be nice. He had slowly grown accustomed to the fact that he had a lot of friends, or at very least a lot more than he'd once been used to. It was strange to consider but not a bad thing. Never a bad thing. "Do you know who you're planning to invite? I'll give you a list for mine, you can decide who you're okay with." His tone was light, suggesting that he didn't have much of a problem with letting her double-check. His fiancée was a such an accepting person compared to him but he wasn't going to take advantage of that and just invite whomever he liked without telling her. If any of the people he was acquainted or friends with gave her problems enough that she'd be uncomfortable with their presence he wanted to make sure she had a say in whether or not they got to attend. "Hm, we'll need to hunt for decorations. I keep forgetting Mum jacked most of them. Shouldn't be too hard, I don't think." He blinked when he realised that he couldn't say for sure. He'd never shopped for decorations before. He opened his mouth, closed it, laughed, shook his head, then said, "I was going to say we'd need to find a tree but you could cover that, right? We'd have the best tree on our street with you and your magic fingers." Heh, magic fingers. Really? He pushed the thought aside.
The Fire graduate wondered whether Nell was serious when she remarked to Enzair. It was hard to tell with her sometimes. Then again, this was Nell. Probably... not? He decided against asking, figuring it might be offensive if she had only been joking and she realised he'd doubted it for a second. Joshua blinked. Explosions? What in the hell did he do? He held his tongue, though, not wanting to interrupt Nell. "Jesus," he said. "Even I wouldn't front five grand on a bet. Not unless I knew I'd win." Hey, Josh knew how to play dirty. If he knew he had you beat, why not try to trick you? That would only be with his enemies, though, because he wouldn't do something like that to a friend. "The hell were you even betting on? Seems like an awful lot of money to throw away... and who won, by the way?" He smirked at this, hoping it would be Nell but obviously feeling a little biased. He loved her, hated (or at least strongly disliked) Enzair, who else would he want to win? Then again, if that guy was willing to throw away five thousand dollars he must've been confident in his chances, yeah? "You really are too nice," he said when she mentioned Mr. Hart, though his tone was affectionate rather than disappointed. "The home was looking for volunteers since it's obviously still open on Christmas but I skipped out." Not out of cruelty but because he honestly just wanted to be with his family on Christmas. And Nell whenever she got home from work. "Thought about the hospital but, fuck, that'd be depressing." Families sobbing as their loved ones slipped away despite the season? God, no, he didn't want to deal with that on Christmas. He had a thick skin but he wasn't heartless.
"Thanks," he said when Enzair returned with the water, still being polite for the sake of the environment. If their server had been anyone else it would have been genuine and accompanied by a smile but as it stood the fellow Fire was lucky that Josh was being nice to begin with. Josh chuckled as Nell listed off her many menu items, clearly amused by the massive list, giving Enzair time to write them down and ask if he was prepared to order before he nodded. "Uh, yeah. I'll have a Caesar salad to start, some of the minestrone, a vegetable stir fry, and... huh, I guess I'll take the roasted garlic potatoes with onions, too." Not nearly as much as Nell but he never ate as much as she did. She literally was like a trash compactor. He was impressed. The minestrone wasn't something he'd usually order out of nowhere but it was one of the soup specials for the day and so he figured "why not?" "As long as there's no meat in the soup." It wasn't traditional for there to be meat in it but it was often that restaurants would offer a few variations of the soups that allowed it.
[Excuse all the dialogue o.o I had a lot of muse all of a sudden .-.]

Nell had never thrown a party before, so she didn't know any of the details. She never had the opportunity where she could have thrown a party. Not much space in a studio apartment. And she'd only been to a few barbecues during the summer, no holiday occasions other than Christmas last year. "Okay, okay, makes sense," she said with her business face on, organizing this in her head. A part of her felt the twist in her gut at the mention of people celebrating with their family, but she wouldn't allow herself to mourn something she never had. She lifted her eyebrows when he asked who she was going to invite. "Not yet...no," she said. He only just presented this to her, after all. He offered to give her a list of people he was planning to invite and she said, "All right," just to be acquiescent. Nell didn't see why she would forbid anyone from going, which gave her an idea. "How about we invite...everybody! Like all can come!" It was a mansion, after all, and they had a staff. They could just spread the word around and see who came. And have a bouncer and stuff. That was something that could be at parties, right? He mentioned decorations, and she spread her arms wide, crayon in hand. "What's difficult about getting decorations? As long as it's not too late in the season." She knew that much about the holiday shopping, at least, since it was common sense. "Tree, check." Nell imagined the tree that would be going inside their mansion. "Maybe, trees? There are a lot of rooms." Even on just the first floor.
Five grand was the big bucks, incredibly big. As in, she would never see that amount of money at once in her life big. It was almost tempting because of that fact, but she was sensible. "And that's what they call a hustler, baby," she said, because if both parties were willing to wager big bucks, one of them was lying about their skills. She could never do that for sport. Nell twirled the crayon around between her fingers. "Who could make the bigger explosion," she said, focusing on her eagle coloring page for a moment before continuing. "I won, naturally." She waved a hand with a mock air of confidence. "Because I made a bomb. Acetone peroxide." Nell didn't mention that they had also gotten in trouble for their shenanigans. The law didn't take too kindly to detonating things without their consent. She continued coloring as he spoke, looking down so that she could cover the blush on her cheeks. It really was the fact she couldn't say no to people, she didn't think niceness had anything to do with it. The girl listened as he went on about the offers of staying to work. "I guess it would be." It depended on which wings he worked. The more serious cases would probably be depressing, especially if family was not visiting. The same with the retirement home. It was more depressing when people were left alone.
The order hadn't been to inconvenience Enzair, so she was glad that he didn't seem phased by it. She was just here to feed herself, not to bother the employees. Though it was tempting. I'm on a date, I will behave myself. Nell continued to color, tongue poking out of her mouth as she truly concentrated when Josh ordered his food. She lifted her head when Enzair took the order, and flapped her hand around. "Ooh, ooh, you should ask your boss if you can get like...kiddy menus." It was a friendly suggestion, of course, and mostly joking. Not that she didn't think it was a good idea, she just didn't expect the Fire graduate to bug the boss (or bosses, considering workplaces had several people to answer to) about something like that. "It would be a good addition, yes." Of course, not many kids were brought to this place. It was high-class, no one wanted screaming little creatures around. Well, she barely noticed it herself. Sometimes she was surprised when a companion would complain about a ruckus. She tended to brush things like that off.

It was certainly a lot more than the usual guest, but the proportions were small as always with a fancy restaurant.
Enzair nodded when Joshua requested no meat, and noting that down so the cook knows which one. Enzair looked up at Nell with a brow raised.
“Ha… funny… I think I’ll pass and keep my job, thank you very much,” Said Enzair.
“And if we were any louder I am certain the whole department would have been on our ass and not some rent-a-cop who failed to report it in,” Commented Enzair keeping quite enough so only josh and Nell could hear, referring to the bomb fiesta he had with Nell a while ago.
Double checking to make sure he got everything correctly. “Would you like coffee, tea, or anything else to drink, no alcohol she is underage,” asked Enzair looking more so over to the other side of the room where his supervisor was watching. He did not like him and he did not like enzair, he was looking for any reason to get him fired, after all he was the uncle of the earth he had beaten down. Looking back down he waited for their reply hoping they would make it quick so he does not have to be around the supervisor too long.
As if the day could not get any worse another couple walked in the doors, that very earth student who seemed to be wearing a thin torso cast under his dress shirt and coat. Must have got him good, however, he came in with his girlfriend. Right now enzair just wanted to get to the back room busy himself with whatever because he was NOT going to serve that guy, hopefully someone else would get to them before his supervisor tells him to serve them not that he would considering he wants to keep enzair and him separate but if it can get enzair fired he will do it.

He blinked at Nell's suggestion, hesitated. Joshua had gotten much better when it came to trust and dealing with people in the past two years, as things had picked up since he'd dealt with the gang, but that did not mean the idea of a bunch of strangers perusing their mansion sounded like a plan to him. There could be good types who just wanted to enjoy a party but there could also be the low-lives who enjoyed crashing parties and wrecking things. "I don't know if that's... safe," he said, not one to agree simply for the sake of agreeing. He usually tried to consider Nell's point of view to make fair decisions and all but he didn't know if he wanted to do something that he was uncomfortable with. "I mean, I'm up for inviting a lot of people but I don't know about strangers. Then anyone could drop by." Including people like Bryce and Jane and Rafael and people that they simply did not want in their mansion. It had taken a while for him to start inviting his friends over, let alone letting any man past the front door. "We have valuables, remember. Can we trust strangers not to lift them?" Then there was the vault-like room in the basement where they kept the really important things. There were a few priceless paintings, family heirlooms, a stock of extra cash for 'just in case' moments. No one could get in there of course, not unless he showed them how, but he still didn't like the idea of someone sneaking upstairs and stealing the computers, the gaming systems, the... anything, really.
He thought about that for a moment, twirled the fork that was laid out in his fingers as he did so. "The house is huge. Might be difficult to find enough things that... fit together." He said it experimentally, as if testing to make sure that he'd found the right words. Deciding they worked fine, he moved on. "Trees, yeah. Maybe one for all the important places. We could decorate the yard, too." He thought it would be pretty cool to have Christmas trees rimming the driveway or something. Let their lights illuminate the path rather than the regular lights from the house. He wore a contented expression as he continued to think it over, still twisting the utensil in his fingers. "Uh, a bomb?" He sounded a little concerned, naturally, because bombs were things he associated with bad things. "Isn't that illegal? And dangerous?" Joshua was all for a little fun every once and a while but he worried about Nell sometimes. He didn't want her to get hurt and so his protective streak tended to take over. Sighing, shaking his head a little, he said, "Well, at least you won." It wouldn't do for Nell to lose to Enzair or anything like that, no way. He didn't like his ex-friend very much but he'd like him even less if the guy was holding victories over Nell's head or something.
It was a mark of how accustomed Joshua was getting to Nell's antics that he merely raised an eyebrow and looked amused when she suggested kiddie menus to Enzair, shaking his head and turning his attention back to their server when he mentioned drinks. He looked almost affronted when the graduate tried to refuse them alcohol. No, that was not going to fly. "Uh, actually, no she isn't," he pointed out, looking at Nell with a slight smirk. It was nice to be able to hang out in a place like this without Nell having to lie. She could go into bars legally, drink legally, it was wonderful. "I think I do want alcohol." He might not have ordered it if not for the fact that Enzair had tried to insist that Nell was underage. "You feeling like anything in particular, babe? We could get a bottle." He was almost hoping she was just so he could be spiteful. He didn't have any preferences of his own.

Nell blinked her large eyes as if not computing Josh's words. In her world of sunshine and butterfrees, there was no danger out there. Just people she'd love to meet and talk to. And what a better way to do that than a party? "Yep," she said with a toothy grin when he mentioned that anyone could drop by. Her family should have been on her mind, but she didn't think of the fact that the both of them had enemies they wouldn't want to open their doors to. She tried not to think of the bad things, only in a way that meant productiveness, not to wallow in the fact that her life was shot like a racehorse with a bum leg. "Of course we can!" she said with the same naivete, even though she knew Josh had concerned. Taking a sip from her drink, she realized that he did have a point. "Okay, maybe not." She didn't have much in terms of valuables of her own. Jewelry, but she wore the most priceless and sentimental, her ring and the medallion around her neck. Other than that, she only had the sentimental like her paper cranes. Who'd want to lift that? But this was a mansion, and she knew that there was a lot of other stuff people would like to add to a collection.
She put the drink down to lift her hands. "Then let them mismatch!" she said in the way of Marie Antoinette. No one would kill them if things clashed, right? Okay, maybe. They were just inviting friends though. Not like they would judge them. Well, Angela would make snarky comments, along with Leana. They were definitely people Nell would invite, even though she wondered if the latter would even come. She smiled over at Enzair when he commented on the fact that they didn't get into that much trouble. "You had the louder explosions, I was being quiet," she claimed, even though that wasn't necessarily true. She blinked at Josh, her smile still on her face even with his concern. "The high-powered explosives, really. I wouldn't be able to make anything that powerful." She did have the fancy chemicals for it, but wouldn't know where to begin. "I know what I'm doing, Joshua," she said, waving her hand. Then more seriously, she said, "I wouldn't do something so dangerous with him around." She jabbed her thumb in the direction Enzair had gone. He did lose a piece of his shirt thanks to some shrapnel, but that was about it. And she did win, like a boss. Even though he got the money. That hadn't been what mattered to her.
She clicked her tongue at Enzair's response to her suggestion. "C'mon, you wouldn't get fired for a simple suggestion. That would be a real shame." Not unless you worked for a totalitarian regime, but this was a restaurant. She was sure if she made a suggestion at a place like Blackjack or even her work now, they wouldn't fire her. They had suggestion boxes, after all. Nell tilted her head when Enzair claimed that she couldn't have alcohol being underage, and she lifted her eyebrows at Josh. Ironically, she'd been serving alcohol when she had been underage. Well, until she was found out. She tried not to remember that. Do I really look that young? She knew that she was small, so it was kind of a blow to her pride and Napoleon complex. "I'm an adult," she claimed proudly, moving to retrieve her ID from her purse. "And I'm an adult whose thinking about a bottle of Pinot Noir. Sound good to you, Josh?" she asked, smiling as she dropped the ID on the table. She usually only drank wine when dining with her father, but why not get some now? It was a a wonderful accompaniment to dinner, and funnily enough, in countries like her father's home of Spain, children drank at the table for dinner.

A little mistake on Enzairs part, nell looks younger than she really is, however that is what they want then let it be so. Enzair nodded and then left so that their order can be made. After turning in the order so the cooks can get to it. Enzair entered the wine cellar and he retrived the wine. Not nesicerilly the best avaiable here but it’s what she likes. And an order is an order.
Enzair retreived a couple glasses before heading back out to them and setting the wine and the two glasses on the table. It is only curtosy when the waiter opens the wine bottle for the table it is not required, and enzair did not think he had any courtesy for them, while he may be performing perfesionalism he left courtesy behind. If they wanted the wine opened forthem they will have to ask.
Enzair’s watch silently beeped, noticing Enzair’s 10 minut break was now he turned it off. “If you need anything else just tell the waitress behind the counter over there,” said enzair gestering over to the waitress who was sitting behind a counter reading a small book. Enzair left the wine bottle opener on the table as he left to the back, heading to thestaff restrooms first, entering he walked up to the counter and looked in the mirror, he had been working practically all day. His arm was finally bothering him, and on top of all the stress two of people he hates most are here tonight, hopefully the worsto f the night has already passed. Enzair rubbed his thin arm cast and took a deep breath. He only wished he had some painkillers right now, but they were strictly forbidden at work. Enzair straitened out his hair and stepped out the back door to get some fresh air. Making sure no one was around he began playing with a marble sized ball of fire in his hand, a little stress releiver so to speak.
