Normally, Matt would be the type to pass on things such as prom when it really wasn't his year to enjoy it, and seeing as he had gone to prom both his 11th and 12th grade proms, he thought his era of promship was over -- they didn't have those things in college, and besides that, Matt was all for school spirit if it didn't mean he had to get all dressy and ridiculous. But he forgot that having friends still in high school meant that he could always be asked to go, and when Anna had invited him to prom with her as friends, he said yes. Anna was a friend and he was a little flattered she had asked him, but he hadn't figured that this meant Nell would come over and help him get dressed. And then when Nell found out that Sandra was going to prom, also, but with some guy Matthew refused to acknowledge as her date (Matthew kind of refused to acknowledge him, period), Nell just kind of looked at them and gave them a bit of a hopeful smile. He remembered the sort of year Nell had last year, and going to prom with all that going on couldn't have been very fun, he assumed. Normally, he'd be a stickler for rules, but what did it even matter to him at this point? He didn't even go to the Academy -- what were they going to, give him detention?
And thus began the plan to smuggle Nell into the Academy prom. Well, it was actually a lot more simple than it sounded. Matt parked his car in the lot and advised Nell to stand to the side a little, just out of the entrance's line of sight. He and Sandra would go in first and then, on his mark, Sandra would go out and cause a scene and make a spectacle of herself to distract the table of staff checking guests in. As she did so, Matt would sneak back out and get Nell and, arm in arm, they'd stroll past spectacle!Sandra as she distracted people, and once they reached the main lobby, Nell would be home free. The plan worked pretty well, with a few minor hiccups -- he hadn't expected Sandra to get distracted in the midst of her distraction causing and that had almost gotten them caught, but he shot her a pointed glare as soon as he could and she seemed to go back to her senses. Nevertheless, Matt felt like he didn't breathe during the entire walk into the lobby with Nell and it wasn't until they were safe around a corner where he breathed a sigh of relief. True, they couldn't give him detention, but that didn't mean he would have fun trying to talk his way out of this if they had been caught. "You're treating us to dinner sometime," said Matt as the relief flowed through his body, making him slouch a little. He was a little worried now that the rest of the night wouldn't live up to the hype -- his night was already pretty exciting. But Nell seemed to be having fun, and Sandra -- oh shit, Sandra. "I guess I should go rescue Sandra..."
he mumbled to himself. On a second thought, Sandra was always going on about how she could take care of herself or something...but no, big brothers really shouldn't just leave their little sisters like that. "Wanna come with? I should probably meet this...this guy she decided to accompany to prom." Matt asked Nell. He didn't really feel bad about the name thing -- he'd learn it if he was worthy. [ uh...idk who wants to go next? you and an can battle it out for the privilege or something. 8D ][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Nell had to say she liked clothes. Fancy clothes. She’d never had many, she still didn’t have many, but the prom outfits were so pretty to look at. All the fabric and the ruffles, the dresses and ties . For the girlies, of course. The tuxes and suits were also neat, and it was during this season that she acknowledged suits were her favorite clothes for males. So she was very excited to help Matt and Sandra get ready. Giving advice, rambling on about what should be done with hair, the corsages, just the overall feeling of it. There was a rush that she felt, being busy with them. It was like helping royalty get ready for the ball. Nell complimented how pretty Sandra looked, and how spiffy Matt was, and she grinned when the plan formulated to sneak her into prom. It made her feel like some kind of delinquint, and that was exciting. Especially since it wasn’t actually a crime, right? She couldn’t be too sure, no matter how much research she did on habeas corpis and corpis delicti. That was the thrilling thing about it, something tat everyone could get excited about. The simple joy of doing something that you know you shouldn't be doing.
And the plan was to act natural, of course. Pretend like you were supposed to be there, which Nell was not. She was a good actress. Nell could be like Rita Hayworth and Doris Day, smoking her cigarette with smokey eyes and keeping true intentions hidden. It was a little trick, see. She kept her arm in Matt’s, and tried to pull her lips down into a frown when Sandra’s distraction worked. ”But of course,” she said, just like one of those golden age actresses. That was easy, and she wanted to repay them for their help. Nell looked around at all the nicely dressed teenagers, cheeks ruddy and heart thudding. Right. Sandra. She was probably fine, but Nell nodded. ”Yeah, congratulate her and everything,” she joked. She did a fine job, being the distraction. Nell thought that maybe they should form a group like Ocean’s Eleven and call it Nell’s Eleven or something like that. ”Yeah, yeah,” she agreed, and then Nell lifted her eyebrows. ”Really? You never met the Deej?” Well, it wasn’t surprising since Matt didn’t go to the Academy, but she thought maybe Sandra would have introduced them. Tonight it would happen, she supposed. She tugged Matt along and found Sanra, hugging her and going, ”You did great! Thank you!” She grinned from ear to ear.

Nell happened to be a good friend of both the Chang siblings -- which, actually, wasn't that uncommon, considering they were both Waters and within the same few years at the Academy, or at least had been before Matt opted for an outside university. Still, it wasn't that surprising when they still had a good handful of the same friends, more or less, and so while it might have been awkward for some people, Sandra didn't really find it that weird at all. That might have also been because the two of them got along pretty well, though, but it didn't really matter! She hadn't actually expected Nell to come over to help them get ready (had Matt?) but when she had, it'd been pretty nice. It was, after all, Sandra's first prom, and so it was good to have someone around apart from an overprotective older brother. When they'd decided to try to sneak Nell into prom, she'd half-volunteered and been half-delegated the task of causing a distraction, and... well, that was kind of fitting. She was probably much more ridiculous than Matthew was, and Nell obviously couldn't serve as their decoy. She entered with Matthew first, showing them her prom ticket and what-not because she, after all, was definitely allowed to be here. Then, a few minutes later, she initiated their plan, playing the part of distraught teenage girl at prom as she tried to get the attention of security by yammering on and on in their ears and asking if they'd seen her date. "Uh, blonde hair, blue eyes, about this tall, Earth kid, Grade 12, super friendly and adorable..." She was starting to run out of description at this point, but at least Matthew had gotten the chance to slip back out behind them. Sandra could tell she was losing them, though, so there was no guarantee Matt and Nell would be able to get back in... Damn it! This would take slightly more drastic measures.
It was probably a good thing for Sandra that the creation of her element was something they focused on in the second half of eleventh grade. She wasn't that good at it, truth be told, had never been particularly good with anything like that (though she was passable, at least, considering she had done alright in the class) but she could at least form a tiny puddle of water on the floor. That would be enough, and people would probably just assume that some other Water elemental had put it there. The fact that she was wearing heels helped too -- she walked onto the water and slipped, making sure she landed safely but still "on her ankle". Then she made a fuss. She wasn't entirely sure about everything that she'd said, just that everyone who was supposed to be checking the door came over quickly. The whole thing probably went something like, "Oh my god my ankle is broken and I can't stand and I can't walk and I definitely can't dance and I'm at prom and everything is ruined and all wrong and my date is going to get here any second and this is terrible..." and so on. She didn't let up, either, despite some of the staff's first patient, then irritable attempts to get her up and standing as they tried to convince her that it would all be okay. She was too distracted to really see the door, but then a few moments later she saw (over the shoulder of one of the teachers who'd come to try and help) Matthew and Nell. They were definitely inside and safe, so Sandra finally let everyone else encourage her to stand up again. "Oh... oh! Look at that! I can walk! And I think I saw my date way over there!" She looked off in a random direction before calling back her thanks to the staff, who were now wandering back over to the door and wherever they'd been before. Then she giggled as she gave Nell a hug. "Yo, I should maybe totally go into being an actress or something." Okay... no, it had been pretty bad, but apparently it was good enough to fool everyone else. "Glad you guys got in okay. Nobody saw you, right?" She grinned at the two of them.
(lolol my bad that this is long and rambly, i had a lot of fun making shit up for sandra. )

Honestly, if Matt didn't know better (and feared for the rest of the world, really), he probably would encourage Sandra's foray into acting because her distraction worked like a charm. He knew his sister pretty well and she was always relaxed and pretty easygoing about everything -- basically completely the opposite of the drama queen pitching a fit about nothing now. He couldn't even help but laugh -- she truly was ridiculous. And he really hoped that her dress was saved and not wet or anything terrible, because then he'd just feel really bad, and it's not like he could just dry it for her, and he didn't know many Winds around to help them out, nor would he trust them to, either. Loitering in the lobby was also a little sketchy, though, but seeing as everyone else within a 10 ft radius was also loitering and staring at Sandra make a spectacle of herself, he thought it was okay. It did give him flashbacks of his own prom, though, and how his date ended up being a little more high maintenance than he would have liked. When Sandra made her way back to them after her little show, the area cleared a little as they all fell back into the normal swing of prom-like things -- people getting their tickets, picking up placards, girls gushing over friends' dresses, guys looking like they didn't really want to get dressed up but did it for the sake of their lady friends. Ah, prom. A cesspool of youth, if Matt ever saw one.
"I think the only acting roles you'd be good for are sleeping ones." Matthew responded to Sandra when she came up to them, all smiles. The girl was having way too much fun with this. But something piqued his interest, then, something she had said in the earlier part of her act, and his eyes narrowed, momentarily forgetting that this was her prom and he should not be a douche and ruin it for her. "Wait, did you say your date was 'adorable'?"
He couldn't find anything else to get this mysterious Earth for, after all, since it was all descriptions and 'super friendly', which didn't help Matthew at all since Earths were the super friendly ones, but the mention of 'adorable' had him on high alert. He turned to Nell, frowning. "She said he's adorable. Is this...Deej adorable to you? Would he hurt her? Is he a decent man?" Matthew fired off, clearly not really caring that Sandra's personal life was exactly that -- personal. And he tried not to get too involved but it was just hard. He didn't think being overprotective was so bad -- he just wanted to meet the kid, scope him out, see if he would treat Sandra right, check his credit history -- was there anything wrong with all of that? Nell wanted to give a round of applause for the performance, but that would have been very suspicious, wouldn't it? Sandra was so convincing the Earth girl wondered if she'd actually accidentally hurt herself when pretending to hurt herself. But by a miracle that any Televangelist faith healer would be proud of, she walked! Hallelujah! Nell rolled her eyes at Matt's words. "I, for one, thought it was an Oscar-worthy performance. Two thumbs way up." She lifted the two appendages to emphasize this before looking around at the other well-dressed folk. "Don't think anyone even glanced at us. All attention was on the prima donna." It worked out too well, in that cliche horror movie fashion. But that didn't mean anything had to go wrong, right? They were in safely, blending with the tuxes and dresses, Nell wearing her homemade corsage to match the light green and blue dress she wore. She had the balls now to wear a dress, feeling confident in heels. She thought that she may even have been getting taller, though that may have been too much to hope for. A girl can dream...
She lifted her eyebrows at Matt's words. Clearly Sandra hadn't told hi much about her date, and he was now in Overprotective Big Brother Mode. His own superpower. When he looked at her and inquired about the mystery Earthie, she chuckled. "Yes, he is pretty high up there on the adorable meter. On a scale from festering boils to basket of kittens, he's about a stuffed animal. You'll like him." Though what kind of brother would like anyone who had an interest in his sister? But she was glad to say that she held Devin in very high esteem, especially now with the information he had stumbled upon. He handled her murderous past almost too well. The boy was too sweet for his own good. She hadn't been joking when she said she feared him being taken advantage of, and so she knew Matt did not have to fear him doing that sort of thing to his sister. "Do you think Sandy would suffer a d-bag?" She looked at the girl, tilting her head to the side. She was a tolerant and kind person, but she was strong of conviction and will. She wouldn't take shit if Devin had any to give. The good thing was he didn't.

Sandra waved off Matthew's... criticism, or whatever she could call that, deciding that she shouldn't take him too seriously. She didn't really take most things seriously, though, and to be perfectly honest, there wasn't much to take seriously about this entire situation, so it was okay. She did, however, take a deep and very flowery, over-the-top bow, making sure to use silly hand waves and everything, too. "Just remember when I do win that Oscar that you were very unsupportive," she said to her brother in what would have been a very huffy tone... except that she ruined it by laughing. This stopped quickly once Matt started grilling Nell, though. Pfft. Sandra could have answered all of these questions, but he wouldn't have believed her anyway! She decided to just stay quiet and let Nell handle things, knowing that the two of them were also friends and so she obviously wouldn't do anything to slander Devin's reputation (or worse, make Matthew angry).
It was Sandra's job to just stand there and try to look as innocent as possible... which, to be perfectly honest, wasn't hard at all. That probably wasn't helping her whole "I can take care of myself" thing though... not that she really wanted to be left alone all the time, just on certain things when Matthew got all overprotective. In the absence of their parents, though, Sandra honestly didn't mind it as much as she let on. That wasn't for Matt to know, of course!"And like, a cute stuffed animal. Not one of the ugly ones." She couldn't think of any ugly stuffies, but they probably existed. "And anyway," she continued, rolling her eyes a little, "It's nothing! We're going as friends! Cool your jets! Oh, and also, his name is Devin." She tilted her head back at Nell, somehow not really bothered by the fact that this was her, uh, life they were discussing. "Definitely not." Sandra's only real priority in life and everything was seriously just happiness, anyway, and that was probably where naivety played to her favour, that she wouldn't really worry about it. If her prom date did start being a jerk, she'd probably just leave and group back up with Nell and Matt later anyway. "Anyway, enough! Dev said he'd be a bit late and you," she pointed a stern finger at Matthew, "aren't allowed to get all up in his grills when he gets here." Devin didn't actually have grills, of course, but the part about being late was true enough -- he'd sent her a text a few minutes ago. "Let's go find something to do!"

The thing about Matthew was that he knew how to have fun, and he knew how to buckle down and be a proper older sibling, but he just didn't know how to do both at the same time without having one side outweigh the other. It wasn't like he didn't trust his sister or Nell, both of them about as untrustworthy as a ladybug, but still. He fixed both Nell and Sandra with wary looks -- he was about 80% sure that they weren't in some sort of conspiracy together to make Sandra's date a decent human being, but then again, he couldn't be too entirely sure. There was probably some secret girl's code or whatever that all girls had to follow, just like how guys had the guy's code, except in theirs, it was okay to be protective because their little sisters would always be that -- their little sisters. Matthew could be 50 and he would always feel the same. "I don't know whether or not she'd date a d-bag," Matthew replied very honestly, frowning a little. It wasn't meant to imply that he didn't trust her, but rather, he was pretty sure his feelings of unease came from the fact that they just didn't know very much about each other's romantic lives. It really wasn't something they talked to each other about a lot (thankfully, to be honest) and so if Sandra had dated anyone in the past, he didn't know what they were like. If she had some dating record that showed she dated respectable men, then all right, he'd probably let up a lot.
Matthew still backed off, though, figuring that this was her friggin' prom, the last thing he needed to do was ruin it by being some kind of crazed familial chaperone. "All right, all right, fine,"
Matt muttered, doing everything in his power to stop himself from saying that stuffed animals being cute was all subjective, anyway, and he probably wouldn't find this particular one cute at all. 'Crazed familial chaperone,' his mind warned him. He bit back his retort, though he probably had a ridiculous look on his face. And what the hell, if this Devin kid wanted to date his sister, the least he could do was show up on time. The warning alarm sounded in his head again and so he figured that maybe it was a good idea just to change the subject entirely before he gave himself an ulcer or an aneurysm. "I think people are still trickling in, but the food is already out," Matthew noted, looking around the place. Most of the tables were all half full on account of people still milling around, greeting friends and telling each other how nice they all looked. He scanned the area for Anna, seeing no sign of her yet -- there were no messages, either, when he checked his cell phone, so he assumed that she was probably late getting ready or something. Girls did that, right? "Let's get something to eat."[/blockquote][/blockquote]

It would have been a difficult situation if Sandra's date was a bad guy. Nell would feel caught between the siblings and wanting to please both of them. Should she have lied for Sandra or given Matt a warning? Such thinking didn't matter, though, so she focused on the fact that Devin was a good guy and that Matt would just have to meet him. And not sit him down with his twelve-gauge. Older siblings were terrifying. Well, most of the time. If a rivalry was bad enough, it was possible that a big brother might not care what his little sister did or who she dated. With Matt's disapproval about Sandra's 'date', Nell wondered if this was a good thing or bad thing right now. "You're so cute when you're restricting Sandy's love life," Nell said cheerfully, pinching Matt's cheek. In a graver tone, she said, "Which is non-existent. Because they're just friends." But they were the most adorable things ever! She kept this opinion to herself, sure that it would go unappreciated by the two. She couldn't help how much she loved the youn'uns.
It must have been magic that kept Nell from disappearing to the food table, with only dust in the shape of her left behind like a Hanna Barbera cartoon. But her head turned sharply at the mention of it, her food radar going off. "Yes, we need food, why haven't we been eating yet?" she asked distractedly before pushing Matt's back to steer him in the direction of the table. That's what she was here for, after all, the food. And to see that her friends had a good time. She sorely missed Josh, however, she would have loved to have him by her side as she swooped down upon the table, getting a plate and stacking it up. She balanced it in her hands as she turned and looked for a table for them to sit at. "Have you seen Anna yet?" she asked Matt, before remembering to swallow the cookie she'd picked up from her plate. She grinned, and then told Anna, "You need to grill him about his date." It only seemed fair. Anna was terrific superb awesome, and totally weird, but in a good way. She and Nell were tight, yo, and she only had good things to say. Maybe the siblings would both realize that their dates are respectable, young Earth folk. And Nell could be the cool old person crashing their party.

Sandra wasn't sure how she was ever supposed to show Matthew that she only dated nice guys if he never let her date, anyway, but that was kind of the conundrum, wasn't it? Then again, it wouldn't have made a difference anyway. Even if she'd had the freedom (and she could have hidden it from her brother if she'd wanted, so really she would have) she... probably sitll wouldn't have. Relationships were things that Sandra had been lacking, but not really something she'd ever missed. There were more important things in life! "He is so not cute," Sandra protested anyway, making a face as if to say that this was a really gross suggestion. "But thank you," she added as an afterthought once Nell backed her up. This was what girl friends were for, or... or something! Well, it wasn't all they were for, but pfft whatever, Sandra was going to have fun whatever Matthew said or thought about Devin. She wondered if Dev actually counted as what Matthew would even consider a respectable man, anyway, but that was a problem for another time (preferably never, because they were just friends).
She looked around wildly at the mention of food, before spotting the food table over on the opposite side of the room. "To the food!" As Nell seemed to have control of steering Matt in the right direction and all, she just followed along, though if she weren't in heels she would have probably run over there and snatched up all the cupcakes -- all of them -- or something before anyone else got a chance. She snatched up a plate, but figured that actually she should probably not eat so much because Devin would be there later, after all, and she was sure that anything involving herself and Devin had to involve food anyway. Still, she sort of kind of filled her plate... with sweets mostly, and popped a bite-sized brownie into her mouth before looking over at Matthew and Nell again. "Ohohoho, yeah, I forgot!" She grinned wickedly. "Who is this Anna, anyway? Is she a nice girl? Will she break your heart? Do I need to give her the infamous shotgun talk?!" While Matthew had never given anyone this shotgun talk before, she knew that it existed, and she had come up with her own, which mostly comprised of her imitating her brother's voice and making tons of empty threats. Hey, she was good at what she did. "Too bad I kind of know the answers, huh," she said to Nell with a slight frown. "Makes it way less interesting..." She didn't know Anna too well, but she did know that she really was just a nice girl. Plus, maybe Sandra was just infinitely more trusting -- a friend of Matt's and Nell's was pretty much automatically good by her, especially because she knew that they really were just friends, too.

Matt didn't understand girl logic. "If he's not cute, why would you go to prom with him?" he asked, clearly confused by the insisting -- and she was totally insisting -- that Devin wasn't cute. 'Back off,' his inner sanity told him, and so he just let the subject drop -- there were more subtle ways to deem whether this Devin was a worthy guy or not, which may or may not involve some stalking subtlety. At the mention of Anna, though, he did a quick onceover of the area they were in, trying to see if he could spot her, but to no avail. She was probably still running late, then. And though he would have been pretty annoyed if Nell's suggestion to interrogate him about his date resulted in anything embarrassing, but there wasn't anything there -- they both knew that he and Anna were just friends, leftover from his high school days, and it would have been too weird to view Anna as anything more than that. She was like another little sister, just not related to him at all. He let Sandra and Nell go in front of him at the line for the buffet tables -- ladies first, after all -- following after them with a plate of his own but choosing to get actual food first, even if the dessert table was very, very tempting.
"If you want to give her the shotgun talk, be my guest?"
Hey, he wouldn't take away all of her fun. "Though the day I'm in a situation where there's the potential for both of you give shotgun talks, I might just never let you meet her." Matt continued. He was only half-kidding -- besides, it always felt weird to have them meet any significant others right off the bat. Thankfully, there weren't any girls that even came close to even being an 'other' of some sort, so he thinks he's pretty okay for now. A thought came to him suddenly, and he turned to Nell. "I don't think I ever gave Josh the shotgun talk...but I don't think I really have to, do I?" Actually, it was probably best if he didn't even attempt that sort of thing -- Matt and Josh were friends, sure, but Matt was probably in no position to do that sort of thing, and probably would never be. And he was sure Josh's side-eye could be felt from a ten kilometer radius, and he'd rather not be on the receiving end of that, ever. "But seriously, don't worry, if I ever find that 'special someone', I'll be sure to introduce you to her and you guys can go all Spanish Inquisition on her if you must." He was pretty confident in this proposition, if only because he was pretty sure that there would be no one like that in quite a bit of time, so really, he was safe all around.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Nell snorted at the sibling interaction, trying to stop by ducking her head and scratching the hair she still had pinned up. She was high fashion, all the time of course. Really though, she was still just just Nelly from the block. I shouldn't be allowed to think, she thought, now with a J-Lo song stuck in her head. She could relate to the women, they were like sisters. Both Hispanic and both from the Bronx. She had let her mind escape her for a moment, before she realized that Matt and Sandra had spoken. ”He is adorable,” she said slyly under her breath, probably not helping Sandra, but it felt like it needed to be said. She noticed Matt looking around for his own date, still feeling the pang that she did not have her own date, which would have of course been Josh. She would never consider bringing another guy to an event like that, because she wouldn't want to go with any other guy.
Her main focus would be food this evening, mostly, she was content to sit back and enjoying eating while people watching. It would be good entertainment for the night without her fiance to dance with. With her Spanish passion, she shouldn't have been as frightened as she was about dancing the last time, but that was just a bad time for her in general. She nodded along when Sandra asked her questions, as if she were wondering the same things. ”Anna might break up with me if I threaten her with a shotgun, and then she'd end up with you anyway.” The girl was her 'bestie' for all intents and purposes that they probably spent way too much time together, so breaking up was a completely viable way to put it. Nell looked over at the girl, nibbling on a cookie before she said, ”There will come a day when Matthew brings home someone you'll need to bring out a shotgun for.” She turned her gaze to him, tilting her head. ”I mean, have you met Shakespeare Girl yet, Sandy? I am very curious about her.” He'd told her that he wanted to invite the girl to their wedding party, but she didn't know much about her save for the Shakespeare deal.
Then she laughed when Matt mentioned the shotgun talk in regards to Josh. As if he didn't get enough shit from my father, she thought, though his talk with her fiance had been the verbal equvalent of a shotgun. Some things she wondered if she could forgive him for, but he did eventually lay off and help him. ”Yeah, the ring on my finger says you are very slow with this and that you are probably not even qualified to hold a shotgun.” A little light teasing never hurt. But Matt needed to be around almost two years ago to have had any chance at an argument. Nell seemed rather gleeful at the proposition of meeting whoever Matt brought home. ”You mean we can throw her in a pit with an ax pendulum.” Then she pursed her lips. ”Though it does make me feel like a bad person.” In the words of Monty Python's Flying Circus, nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.

She rolled her eyes but grinned. "Dummies. I meant Matt," she said, shaking her head. "Devin is very adorable." She waggled her eyebrows a little just to bug her brother. It was just fun to make life difficult for him... and it was very easy. Sandra had experience, though, so maybe this made it a bit different. She sighed a little bit. "It wouldn't be fun to give Anna the shotgun talk, though." She already knew that Matthew didn't like Anna, or at least she didn't think he did, but then again it wasn't like they discussed this kind of stuff. Ew. She didn't need to know about her brother's feelings, whatever they were, unless it came time to actually meet any of these girls... and at that point, she was pretty sure things would have gotten far enough that it wouldn't be weird or anything. At least, Sandra hoped. She was way less private about her (lack of a) love life, anyway... but Nell's words did make her curious. "Who is this Shakespear Girl?" she asked, blinking a bit. This was the first Sandra had heard of this. "Ooh. Oooooh. What do I need to know?" They really didn't talk about this kind of thing.
Sandra scoffed a bit. "Bit late there." She got an image in her mind of Matthew showing up to Nell's and Josh's wedding with an actual shotgun, sitting Josh down before he said his vows and threatening him, then letting the ceremony continue on. That... that would be really, really weird. "Aw right, Spanish Inquisition time," she said, almost excited about this for some reason. "Meh, I'm willing to feel like a bad person if I get to threaten Matt's future girlfriend." She tried to cackle but it mostly came out as giggles. Sandra really couldn't be as mean as it would take to legitimately threaten people, at least she didn't think, but this would just have to wait until Matthew actually did wind up some kind of relationship or whatever with a girl. She wondered if he'd actually tell her, but hey, this was actual permission for her to grill the girl later. "Lots of threatening all around," she said thoughtfully. "I guess Josh got lucky." She didn't know how he'd gotten lucky -- maybe just because Sandra and Matthew hadn't been good friends with Nell at the time, way back when. It wasn't like Sandra really knew the details anyway.

Somewhere between the words 'Shakespeare' and 'Girl', Matthew tuned the both of them out, concentrating on stacking his plate up with food -- crackers, cheese, some pasta, cheese, a mini-quiche or two, more cheese. In any case, Shakespeare Girl was, after all, just a pipe dream at this point, and no one Nell or Sandra had to worry about. If they worried about it at all. Well, it wasn't like he was known for scandalous love affairs, so their concern would be completely unwarranted to begin with. "Shakespeare Girl is just Shakespeare Girl. She was in my English class this past semester." Matt informed his sister, not because he actually owed her an explanation, but because he knew that if Sandra wanted to, she would bug him to hell and back about it until she got a satisfactory answer. Throw Nell into that mix and he really was much better off just coming clean instead of trying to guard it. He knew them better than to try that, anyway. "All you need to know is that I like her, her name is Claire, and we are friends."
Matt shrugged after the fact -- it was true. They were just friends. The friend-zone was a territory that Matthew was very familiar with, and perhaps other guys would have gotten pretty irritated with constantly being delegated there, it never made sense for Matthew to get angry about it. It's not like they were cutting them out of their life. Getting angry about being in the F-zone was just as bad as the people who were honest about only wanting to get in someone's pants. And they were at least honest. All right, he was generalizing, but whatever -- Matthew wasn't like that, and was a little proud of that. It was cool just being able to be friends with a girl. "Josh also seems like the type of guy who'd bite my head off with just a glare if I dared to try anything like that, anyway," Matthew said, honestly, because that was pretty much exactly how he felt, truth be told. "So whenever you guys tie the knot, I will just stand in the audience and blubber and wave a handkerchief around while you guys do your thing." As tough as Matthew liked to pretend he was, he knew he was a total softie and would probably tear up the entire time like he was getting married himself and no one needed to see that. It wasn't very pretty. "Now this Devin kid on the other hand..."[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Even if Matt didn't pursue Shakespeare Girl, as a friend, Nell felt obligated to tease him. Not mercilessly, because it wasn't like Nell could be very mean considering her idea of an insult was calling someone a poopyhead. ”Aw, don't be coy,” she said. It surprised her a little bit that Sandra didn't know about it, but the only (healthy) sibling relationship she'd had was one of complete candidness. And she knew if Till was alive, she'd still be telling the girl everything. But then again, Nell might not be the way she is today if her sister survived. ”The f-word. See, I say that you need to go down on bended knee with flowers and recite a sonnet. Compare her to a summer's day.” She gave two thumbs up before stabbing her fork into more food. It depended on the girl what she liked, but if she liked Shakespeare, no harm in poetry for that one.
Sandra agreed that it was too late for any real 'talk' with Nell's significant other. And went on to say that she was willing to feel bad for the chance at Matt's future lover. ”Hear that Matty, you better watch out because Sandra gon get her.” Now Sandra with a shotgun was something Nell did not want to think about. She was too cute to be so scary. It didn't mix right in her head, even if it was a gun of a lesser caliber.
The Earth girl pursed her lips when Matt said that Josh would bite his head off with a glare if he attempted the shotgun talk. ”That's terrifying to imagine,” she said flatly, ”But pretty accurate.” It would be funny to think that Matt might be afraid of Josh, but she knew those two were friends. It didn't mean that her fiance wasn't scary when he was mad. ”I guess for those little wedding favors or whatever, we'll need Kleenex. Put fancy little designs on it and Josh and Nell for eva in cursive writing.” And that was the first plan she made for the wedding ever, aside from half-assing it with Matt. She had yet to actually discuss it with Josh, the person she would be marrying.
Of course he mentioned Devin though. Nell waved her hand in the air, the other holding a glass of water. ”A plus guy, swear on my life. And if you do background check him, just know that the one little blip on his record was kind of actually completely my fault.” She put a hand on Matt's arm. ”And remember, guns are illegal. Keep that in mind.” Matt with a gun? Almost as bad as Sandra with a gun. And something else she did not want to think about. At all.

Sandra didn't actually think there was anything to worry about with her brother and any girls, to be honest, but maybe that was because he didn't have a particular good... or bad, whichever was applicable... record with relationships. "Is she pretty, is she nice, does she like you?" She wasn't really expecting an answer to any of these questions (especially not the last one, because she was sure that if Matthew knew the answer to that question then this conversation would be very different right now). Still, it was just way too easy to pick on him, but she wouldn't actually be that bad... just annoying. Maybe one day she would meet this Shakespeare girl, but she knew that this was unlikely to happen unless the girl wound up at the apartment, and she knew that this was unlikely unless they got pretty serious. This Shakespeare Girl probably lived on or near their campus or something. "One day I will get her. Then you'll be sorry for antagonizing Devin tonight," she said, eyeing her brother before she flashed a grin at Nell.
She had yet to see Josh really angry, but she'd seen him annoyed on occasion (though she'd barely spoken to him) and these things never went well. He probably had the typical Fire temper, despite having switched sides. That definitely couldn't mean a complete personality change or anything. Sandra didn't think he was a bad guy by any means, though -- she was pretty trusting of people -- so it wasn't likely she'd even want to try threatening the dude or anything to that effect. "Josh and Nell five ever, even," she said, laughing. Well, Kleenex wouldn't be such bad wedding favours. People would probably go through a ton of them and stuff pretty easily. "One day you guys should really tell me about that whole thing. But I don't think laws are going to stop Matt from holding a gun if he --" She was interrupted by her phone, and she pulled it out and took a moment to read the text. "Gotta go, Devin's here, don't try to find him and threaten him!" Sandra called quickly, grabbing a cookie off of one of their plates before she ran off -- it was probably best to actually go find her date before Matthew had the chance to intercept him or anything. She didn't know how well that would end.
(uh... i guess we can either end it here or you guys can work out if you want to post again or something? XD)
