Nell couldn’t say she was a perfect student, even though she tried to be. But usually, she was moer than decent. She was always on time, or even early, and usually remembered her assignments. She rarely procrastinated because the work she was procrastinating on usually occupied her thoughts until she was finished. She respected her teachers, asked questions and was overall an active participant in school. She didn’t even mind group projects. So as she sat in class, balancing a pencil on her upper lip to distract herself from tugging at her hair in boredom—she always messed with it, getting it greasy—she was interested to hear that they’d be partnering up for this assigment.
The professor had chosen the partners, probably at home last night, and she waited as he went through the list that had apparently been put together randomly. ”Samantha Blackhill and Nell Shepherd.” Nell shifted so that she was erect in her chair, and waggled her fingers at her friend, glad that the person in the seat next to her had moved to find his own partner. She waited until the girl came over, and said with a pumped tone of voice, ”You ready for the most epic project ever?” Before she could say anything else, however, the professor was going into his instructions and Nell tried to keep still in her seat. It was hard for Nell to not move at any point of time—she needed to swing her legs, or play with her hair, or balance a pencil on her lip.
”You will choose a story we’ve read this year and write a six page autobiography for one of the characters. You will, of course, have to make up some details, so be creative.” Murmurs erupted as plans were decided, and the professor waited silently for the noise to settle. ”It’ll be due by the end of the month.” There came the usual groans, and Nell was doing the rubber pencil trick as she thought about how busy she was going to be this month. It wouldn’t be too bad, she didn’t think, and she was glad—she never wanted to be the deadweight for a project.
Turning to Aramina as the professor allowed time for discussion about the project, Nell said, ”So what story do you have in mind? I don’t really care which we do.” She was an easygoing person, and she would be fine with whatever Sam wanted to do. Picking up the paper for details about what they had to do, Nell read off, ”We’ll need index cards, a rough draft, and a completed copy. Oh, we’re going to tear this project apart, Sammy.” She grinned when she said this. English was her best subject, and so she was kind of looking forward to the project, though she wouldn’t say that for fear of looking like a complete dork. ”Are you going to be busy this month?” Nell asked, continuing to play around with her pencil absent-mindedly. She didn’t mind picking up slack, either, and she wouldn’t blame Sam at all.

To Samantha this was just like any other class, boring and very much sleep enduring, but she felt like this about most of her classes. To say that Sam was a model student was something out of a fairy tale book that her mother used to read to her when she was really little and she wasn't exactly her brother when it came to her actual score when it came to tests and exams. Considering her brother was a straight A student who loved to rub that fact in her fact when ever he could. The thing that caught Sam's attention was the fact that her professor was giving her class a her assignment to be done in pairs and just like usual, he was to pick the partners. 'Darn,' Sam though to herself as she looked up wondering who she was going to get, 'Better be someone good.'
What she didn't realise until the last moment was the fact that she was about to be put into the best partnership that she could think of. ”Samantha Blackhill and Nell Shepherd.” She heard coming from her teacher and Sam couldn't help but smile like nothing was better in the world. Looking over the classroom toward her new partners she couldn't wait to get started, for once in her life. "You better believe that I am really!" Sam said in a really enthusiastic tone of voice as she sat next to her partner and best friend, Nell. As soon as she had said this her professor began to go over what was required in the assignment itself.
”You will choose a story we’ve read this year and write a six page autobiography for one of the characters. You will, of course, have to make up some details, so be creative.” As soon as he had said this all anyone could hear was everyone else in the class talking to their partners about what story they were going to do. Though, as soon as the whispers started they where stopped my the professor talking, once again, "It’ll be due by the end of the month.”
What Nell then said got Samantha thinking, what story they should actually do. "Let me think about this for a second" Looking up at the roof, Samantha began to think, "Why don't be do 'Alice in Wonderland'? We did that this year, didn't we?" She said with a hopeful smile on her face. Listening to the mental list that Nell had just come up with, Samantha just continued to nod until she heard Nell say something else. Looking back over to her friend she smiled a said, "You better believe it, Nell. You know, doing this project and all and I still want to get that move right for a practical class. What about you, I am thinking that we may need to have a couple over nighters to get this one done."

Nell was sure that the two girls would have erupted into fistpumping and trash talk if the professor wasn’t busy droning on about the assignment, so she just stifled her laughter as she busied herself with the pencil. At least she never put her head down in class, but still it wasn’t like she could ever sit still, even when the professor was talking about the project as if it was the most boring thing ever. Howver, Nell was actually looking forward to it, because Samantha Blackhill and Nell Shepherd were a boss duo. And the rest of the class had better respect.
She waited while Sam seemed to consider the words, Nell herself going over everything they’d read that year. It was strange, considering the fact that the year was almost over. It was the beginning of September, so they had four months until graduation. Three months until the trial. She forced that thought away, as dangerous and concerning as it was. That’s what winter meant to her, it meant possible incarceration. It meant something that Sam did not know about. But for how long? Apparently it had been Jane that told Josh’s father about the trial and lied about the murder, and soon enough it would be televised. Even in Canada, because as Jane once told her, the media loved stories like hers, something that seemed so unimagineable, something so grim.
Snapped out of her musings by her best friend, Nell said, ”Alice in Wonderland sounds awesome. Who should we do?” Like Sam, she thought for a moment before an idea lit up her eyes. ”We should do a really underappreciated character that no one cares about. Like…Alice’s sister or the Knave.” That would probably be the most interesting, since it seemed that everyone always loved to talk about Alice or the Mad Hatter or the Cheshire Cat. There were a lot of other characters in that book it would be interesting to think about. Whoa, getting a little too excited. But it was a part of her nature, and Sam seemed excited about this project as well, so she didn’t feel too bad.
This time, Nell actually did fistpump and said, ”We’re running this.” When a few students looked over because hse had gotten a little too loud, she winced, apologized, and returned her attention to Sam. ”Oh definitely, we can do most of it at my place.” Even though it was small considering it was a crappy downtown apartment, she loved having friends over, especially if they were working on a projet. ”We can even go the extra mile and make a poster or power point. I wonder if he’ll give extra credit for that.” Nell did like to overachieve sometimes, but it wasn’t beause she was a teacher’s pet. She just wanted to do good, and prove that she could excel in the Academy. ”So, anything cool going on this month for you?” she wondered. Of course, Sam didn’t need to reveal anything too personal with Nell, but she considered the short-haired Earth girl a good friend of hers. She liked to know these things.

As soon as Nell had said that it was alright for them to do 'Alice In Wonderland' Sam couldn't help but be really happy, for some unknown reason. It hadn't been to often that this type of this would make the earth girl glad, it might have just been the fact that that was the only story that Sam could remember them reading over this entire year. As weird as that is, it was true. Even though she was an average student when it came to English, she still never really payed much attention to what type of work they did. She didn't really remember most of the year course, though as you can tell, she did remember reading 'Alice In Wonderland' due to it being on of her favorite books. After listening to everything that Nell had said she really did wonder what character they should do, as much as she wanted to do something easy, they would get more points as a team if they did a character that no other group in the class had done. After thinking about it for a little bit she finally came up with something.
"I guess," Sam began to say when she realized that she should have maybe thought it through just a little more, "Either of those two would be really good. You would think that doing it on Alice's sister would be easy to do while doing it on The Knave would be a little harder." Well, at least she sounded like she knew what she was talking about, due to the crickets in her mind that were continuously going off at this point. "If we wanted to get more creative then we should probably do it on.. The Knave. How does that sound?"
After hearing Nell's rather enthusiastic 'battle cry', Sam couldn't help but laugh a little to herself. The girl that she was currently sitting next to certainly knew how to make the mood change as she wanted it to and that was a mighty skill in it's own right, for sure. "We will defiantly do something like that," Sam said as she felt it necessary to reply with some of her own ideas for the duos project, "Maybe something like a small-ish family tree or something could work really well." Though Nell's next question did put her of for a little bit, she didn't really have much planned then really to just do this project, along with a whole heap of others little bits of homework, and hanging out with some of her mates. "Well, I would really like to meet up with Marcus some time in the next month, it had been ages since I saw him last. Other than that, just homework. What about you?" The curious Earth girl asked wondering if she was in the same spot as herself.

She leaned back in her chair, something she never really thought that she’d get in trouble for by a teacher. Nell didn’t have the previous grade school years to know about things that younger kids had been admonished for, like eating glue and running around with scissors. And since she wasn’t aware of it, it was something that she couldn’t really miss not having experience. ”The Knave would be pretty cool, since we don’t find out much about him in the story.” About any of the characters, actually—they really don’t have too much backstory to them, which is probably why the book would be one of the harder ones to do. But Nell actually liked that, putting thought and effort into things. She was a hardworker in everything she did, from school and her element to her job and life in general.
Nell snapped her fingers, brigning down the front legs of her chair with a metallic slam, and pointed at her friend. ”You are a genius, Sam. We can even use our element to make it look like a real tree.” Really, she seemed like a creative thinker, which was perfect. Nell was much the same way—her talents lay mostly in english and history, right-brained subjects. Math and sciences…well, she’d rather not think about those since she was doing mostly average with those subjects. And of course, there were her elemental classes, which she was getting much better at. After all, it was a part of her nature, being an Earth student. It wasn’t liked academics—it was more about feeling and focus and, okay, there was academics involved to better understand, but she could handle those things. She felt confident enough in those areas that she tried her best. Nell really wanted her powers, to get better.
Eyes glinting at her friends words, she couldn’t disguise the devilishness. ”Ooh,” Nell said in the immature, eighth-grade way, winking at Sam. ”You plan on hanging out with Marcus, huh? Whatcha gonna do with him?” She rested her chin in her hands as she leaned on her desk, looking at her friend with barely-veiled mischeviousness. If the girl didn’t want to tell Nell about her personal life or what she was going to do, Nell was completely fine with that. She wasn’t teasing to weasel her way into Sam’s life, she just liked to know more about her friends and see that they were happy. Inwardly, she was hoping that Marcus made the girl happy. They’d met before and Nell remembered that he was a graduate. But they weren’t terribly good friends. ”Gonna have some fun?” she asked before giggling deviously. Innocent, friendly trolling she was doing.
As for herself? ”You know, just doing my thang,” she said, playing up her New York accent a little more. Somehow, she was glad she wasn’t assimilating so much in Canada—it must have been what her grandparents felt like moving to America and why they mostly spoke Spanish. They had a lot of pride. Nell just liked having something that set her apart, as cheesy as it sounded. More than that, people were interested in it, and that meant Nell could meet new friends. Which was even cheesier. ”I don’t really know, actually. I’ll be keeping busy, that’s for sure.” Nell wasn’t one to talk about herself, and not just because she was a private person—she liked talking to other people about their lives more. But pricy definitely played a part. Nell didn’t really like talking about her illegal job and the stress that was constantly eating at her thanks to the trial in the back of her mind. Shifting her gaze to the clock as if also shifting the subject away from herself, Nell said, ”Class is almost over. Want to head to the craft store and pick up some stuff? Maybe get something to eat?”

As soon as Nell had said that doing The Knave was a good idea she began to think about what they could to for a brief, or at least detailed and short-ish, history on the character itself. Like, what was his like before the book and maybe a little bit of his after life, after the book that is. After a little while Sam began to just scribble down a couple ideas down in her book so that she could remember to mention a few things when, and if, they decided to do something like that. Looking around the room she could see a few other people doing the same book, the only different she could see would be the fact that they were doing quite well known characters, while the duo were doing a character that most people might not think of doing.
The thing that scared Sam at this point was when Nell had made a loud noise and began pointing at her and it turned out that most of the people in the class had heard that as well. Looking around she saw a few people looking at them, laughing a little to herself she wondered why Nell had to make such a big thing out of nothing really, though that was made being friends with her such a good thing. She never really knew what was going to happen next and that was something at she really liked in a person. "I know right," Sam began to say, agreeing with the fact that she did come up with a good idea every now and again, though it wasn't very often that that really happened, "We might want to do that closer to the due date though. we don't want it forget about it, right?" Though they were both earth elements, the last plant that Sam had had in her room, she had to revive with her powers due to forgetting about it.
At this point Sam began to blush, just a little bit, even though it was noticeable to anyone what was near the duo. Marcus was a graduate earth student and the pair of them of them had been really good friends for around 1 to 2 years, though unknown to him, Sam had had a crush on the boy for a while now. Looking back up to Nell she began to smile. "You know, just the usual. I would tell you more but I have no idea, to be honest. It was him that wanted to met up, so yer." Sam said with a little bit of a smile on her face, showing that she was really excited about this event, even if she wouldn't say so. Even though she knew that Nell had a heaps on her mind at certain times but Sam knew that if Nell wanted her to then she would tell her. "Sounds alright, who is going to drive this time though, me or you?" She asked.

Sam suggested that they save that for last, which was a reasonable thing for them to do. There she goes, being all awesome and reasonable, Nell thought humorously. ”Sounds good.” Nell nodded as if to back this up. Her apartment was more or less a jungle. Well, less now that autumn had come and it was harder to care for certain plants she had been growing during the summer. But she always made sure to replace them and grow more. It may have made the place more crowded with all the vegetation, but for some reason it also felt lonelier without her element around her. It was much easier than New York, however. Even though Maple Hollow was a large city, they were still in the mountains and there was plenty of nature around to observe. That’s where her hometown and Canada differed—the closest that the city came to wildlife was Central Park, a place she’d never been.
Nell was proud in the fact that she’d gotten Sam to blush. It was adorable, to say the least, and it only encourage her in her ball-busting. ”He wanted to meet up with you?” she said as if considering. Well, well, that was interesting. ”You know, it may not just be the usual.” She winked at her friend, feeling like an asshole. But the girl would certainly understand that she was just playing around. To emphasize this, she held up her hands and said, ”But I shall say nothing more on the subject.” Her crafty grin was still planted on her face, however, just to show where her thoughts were at that moment.
With Sam’s question, Nell grinned. ”Ooh, I’ll drive!” she said enthusiastically. Then, to explain why she was just so excited to do so, she told Sam, ”I’ve got something that may entertain you.” Now she waited through the rest of the class with barely-veiled excitement as she made more conversation with Sam. When the bell finally rung from its place in the tower, she was quite like a bat outta hell. It was difficult for the girl to stay in one place for too long, anyway, and besides, she wanted to get out to her parking lot and show Sam her car. Usually, she wouldn’t have been so proud of her PT Cruiser, but now it had a rather impressive hood decoration. Out in the parking lot, Nell spread her arms wide with her keys dangling from her fingers. ”Tada!” On the hood was a jumbo magnet mustache, and she explained, ”Poor Gwen is going through menopause. Not enough estrogen.”

As soon as Nell said that she would drive Sam couldn't help but smile a little to herself. Sam wasn't what you could call a 'good' drive, considering the fact that she does drive herself to and from school each day. That being so, she still hated it when people decided that they wanted to become back seat drivers and just yell and annoy the hell out of her while she was driving. That last time that something like that happened, lets just say that Sam wishes that she could forget what had happened. Just as they left the building, Sam now quickly placing her bag on her back, she followed Nell toward her car and as soon as they arrived she couldn't help but laugh just a little to herself. Not at the car it self, more at the comment that Nell had made about it. As soon as Nell had finished showing Sam her car, she felt like she had to say at least something about it before they went to her apartment. "I love your car!" Sam said with a massive smile on her face, "It is so cute.." well, it was true. Sam loved the way that Nell's car looked and even more for the fact that Nell prided herself on her car, was even more amazing.
As soon as they got into the car, with their bags in the back seat, they slowly pulled out of the school car park and where on their way to Nell's Apartment. Sam hadn't been there too many times in the past, so she was looking forward to seeing it again. While driving Sam realized that it had gotten just a little bit awkward, so after a couple minuted she decided to just say anything to break the silence. "I am serious now," She stated hoping that Nell would at least tell her what she thought about her current situation, "What do you think Marcus even whats to do?" She finished as she began to think about it herself. Nell knew that Sam had had a crush on the Earth Graduate just a little after they had meet and Sam had always relied of her earth friends advice when it came to this sort of stuff.

So Sam loved Gwen? Nell patted the hood, and said, ”Hear that, baby, you got a compliment.” She looked back at her friend and laughed a bit, something not uncommon for her to do. She was always either smiling or laughing. ”Thanks.” Her eyes twinkled with gratitude, and as she droved, she contemplated Sam’s words. Her ire toward the car was mostly joking. After all, she didn’t even have one growing up. After her father left, the only things that had occupied the curb in front of her house were weeds poking up through the cracks in the asphalt and old used needles. The fact that she never had a lot growing up made her less inclined to complain, especially about petty things. Coupled with the belief that anything that happened now was not as bad as what she’d had before, and she got by very well in life. She was happy with what she got.
Now focused on cars, Nell turned her head when Sam spoke up, and flicked her eyes back to the road as she chewed on her lip to think about it. ”Well, we have to evaluate the situation,” she said as if speaking at a very important lecture. ”Now, he asked to hang out, right? Did he give a reason?” It was all circumstance, after all. Nell wasn’t going to pretend she understood boys and their intentions, she barely had enough experience with people in general to fully comprehend them. But she understood circumstance and situations and was empathetic enough to know about certain things. ”Because depending on the reason…you know, there may be some ulterior motive.” She was hoping to do some sleuthing and figure this out so that she could be assured that Marcus liked Sam. It wasn’t too hard, after all. Sam was freaking cool and easygoing, she wondered how she didn’t have more people chasing after her. Well, from what Nell heard. She liked to ignore any rumors, though, so things like that would have gone right over her head.

As soon as Nell had tried to explain what she thought of the situation Sam couldn't help but hate the two words 'ulterior motive', though she never really like them in the first place, to be honest. "True, true." She said trying to sound like she was thinking about it to hard. Sam would always asked Nell's advice about stuff, they were pretty much best friends after all. It was something that she tended to do quite a bit now that she wasn't talking to her older brother very much. "He really didn't give a reason, just that we hadn't seen each other in ages and that he wanted to catch up." In Sam's mind she really did see much wrong with that statement but it was always good to get a second opinion, like when you go and buy a new pair of shoes.
Soon enough they reach Nell's apartment and for once, Sam couldn't wait to get going and start their project. Even though it may not seem it, considering Sam is sleeps throughout most of her classes, she really likes to do well and she knew that they where going to blow this project up, so to speak. As they began to walk up the stairs and while doing so she just began to think of more ideas for their project itself. Walking in the door she placed her bag on the table and continued to think, "What else should we do?" She voiced hoping that Nell was coming up with better ideas than she was. It was known that Sam could come up with a couple good ideas but after that she just continued to hit a blank point in her mind. "Should we do a full history on The Knave?" she though wondering how long that would actually take. "Or should we just do more a brief one and focus more of the tree?"

Nell chewed on her bottom lip as she thought, and her face broke out into a smile when Sam said that he didn’t really say. Tapping the steering wheel for emphasis, Nell said, ”He’s being vague, that’s good! That means there may be something that he wants to talk about that he doesn’t want to tell you.” She bobbed her head, as she continued to form ideas in her head. Then, she held up her hand, keeping the other on the wheel. With a stern look to Sam, she said, ”However, don’t be disappointed if he doesn’t ask you out or something. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t like you.” It was almost comical that a girl with little to no real world experience—especially when it came to crushes and other school scenarios—was giving one of her closest friends advice on it. But she liked to believe she had the capacity to give such advice. She knew people well enough, right? Even though she didn’t really know Marcus, she thought she had a good enough grip on the world by now that she could help out her friends like this.
When they reached her apartment, she bent over to scratch behind Pablo’s ears when he greeted her by rubbing against her legs, and the cat went over to sniff inquiringly at Sam. Pablo knew her, though, as Sam had been over a few times before. The girl was probably used to the plants crowding up the space of the studio apartment. Pablo meowed, and Nell could recognize that as his ‘I want food’ meow. Picking him up, she said, ”It’s not chow time yet, Pablo.” Nell went to sit on the couch, placing Pablo on the floor and flicking on the TV. The cat busied himself with using the trunk of her ficus as a scratching post, and she figured that she would get to watering her plants in a bit, after figuring out some more stuff. ”Well, we can do an interview-style thing,” she suggested, putting the remote on her coffee table and digging through her bag to pull out her binders and notebooks. ”If we do an interview, it wouldn’t have to be some full-length detailed paper, but we could still get a lot out of the history and focus more on the tree.” It sounded like a good idea, since the tree would be the more eye-catching part of it and they should spend a bit more time on that. Clicking the cap of her pen, she started scrawling down their ideas. ”Doing an interview should only take…well, not too long actually. If we get a bit of a head-start today, we’ll be sailing right through this project.”

She wasn't really worried about what was going to happen when she did meet Marcus, she was more worried about what was actually to be said when the did meet up. It was more the wondering that he never really asked this close to the date when he wanted to meet up, he would usually text or call her at least a week before to ask if she wanted to do something, when he asked yesterday to meet my tomorrow. Though she really did live it when Nell gave her advice and this time it was no exception. "Thanks Nell. I will tell you what happened, okay?" Sam said knowing that Nell would want to know what happened when you did actually meet up. It was just something that you would tell a best friend, even if neither of them asked to be told.
As soon as she heard Nell talking to Pablo she couldn't help but look around and smile at the cat that was asking her friend for food, as much as you wanted to you could couldn't because you knew that it wouldn't be good for him. As much as she was good and coming out with ideas for project, Nell was better and finishing a polishing the idea so that it can become more awesome than anyone else's, and that was a pretty good way to compose her projects when they worked together. "That sounds like a really good idea, would we do a live interview, or just come up with questions and write one up?" In her mind she couldn't wait to start making and constructing this tree.

Nell was glad to be there for people in terms of support, even if she didn’t think she was the smartest person in the world. She really felt like a terrible friend sometimes, but that was mostly when she thought about herself, something she tried to prevent. Still, she was glad that Sam seemed really happy. ”Sure!” Nell said with a light chuckle. She wasn’t the kind of friend to poke and prod for answers. If she did ask, she’d do it with some eyebrow waggling, and if the other person wanted the subject to drop, she’d immediately do so unless it was otherwise important. But she liked to be there, to stand by her friends as a constant support. She was loyal and dependable, even though she never put a finger on these qualities herself—she didn’t think about herself a lot, and when she did there were things she didn’t like there. So she tried to be there for others and not focus her attention on herself.
Kicking off her shoes, Nell leaned back and slapped her hands on her knees to keep herself moving at all times. ”How would we do a live interview?” she asked. ”Have someone dress up as the Knave and give him a script or something?” That sounded pretty funny, actually, and she was giggling at the mere idea of it. But as she was laughing, she noticed that her stomach hurt and decided that it was time for her to eat. ”It’s gonna make Pablo jealous, but you want anything to eat? I haven’t had anything since twelve o’ clock.” Nell going over four hours without food was very distressing. She didn’t constantly have her hand in a bag, but she always made sure that she ate whenever she was hungry, and that was a lot. Luckily, she had an iron stomach that could handle anything—except okra, though that was an allergy. She headed into her kitchenette where Pablo sat patiently in front of her bowl, as if trying to make her feel guilty about not feeding him.

Samantha couldn't help but laugh at this point. All she could think of was either on of them or at least someone that they knew dressing up as The Knave for their English project, even though it was an awesome idea. "We could totally get someone do that," She said trying to not laugh while she was talking, "You have to admit that it would be pretty funny if we were to do something like that, right." even though she didn't really think that they would extra points for doing something like that, it would still be something that no-one would really doing, if they were doing their character that is. But the next thing that she thought was that if they were to do that, how would they get a Knave costume.
As soon as Nell had asked if she wanted something to eat she couldn't help but hear her tummy grumble. Looking up at Nell all she hear for a second was silences, soon after all that could be heard was laughter because of what had just happened. If anyone knew Sam they knew that she loved to try different types of food but also loved to make food, even though her didn't really tell anyone due to the fact that she just couldn't cook for anything. "You better believe it Nell." She said with a smile on her face, "What do you have in mind?" Sam asked wondering what Nell wanted to eat.
After they decided what the were going to eat Sam looked around a little more so that she could think about some other things that the pair of them could do for their projects, even though the image of someone in a Knave costume was still in her mind. Even though she could come up with a couple good ideas, after a while she could become run over with just nothing coming into her mind. After awhile all she could think about the tree that they planed on creating for a family tree of sorts, so Sam just decided to ask the first thing that came into her mind. "What type of tree are you thinking of doing for the family tree itself?" She asked hoping that she had some idea.

Sam’s laughter was infectious, and soon Nell was covering her mouth with her hand as she giggled. Calming down, she said enthusiastically, ”It has to happen. We’re doing it.” In the next second she took out her phone to look through her contacts and find someone who might be willing to put on a costume and help them out with the assignment. ”I’m sure someone I know would like to…” she muttered before she found one and said, ”Aha!” She gave her friend a wink before sending out the text. ”Now we play the waiting game,” she said, chuckling a little. She was sure the guy she chose would be more than enthusiastic to put on a costume and have the two girls interview him. He was…a strange one, to say the least. But that’s exactly what they needed. ”I have a video camera, so we’re all set with that.” The last thing she’d taped with her camera was she and Josh on their ‘Yeti Adventure’.
Nell listened to her friend as she asked what she had in mind. Bending over and shaking her butt a little, she looked through her fridge and called, ”I always have leftovers. Some Spanish dishes. They’re muy delicioso.” She said the words in a heavy Telemundo-style accent. ”And a lot of stuff in the freezer. Of course we can order out.” Nell tried to make her own food as much as possible, because that way she knew it was healthy. However, she often fell back on fast food and takeout when she was too busy. Sometimes, after coming home from work or school it was just too easy to phone up the nearby Chinese place aand get herself some lo mein. Or when she only had a little time to eat in-between going places, Burger King was right nearby. Convenience was going to kill her body, really.
Sam asked what she planned to use for the tree, and Nell pointed to the ficus next to her door. ”We could use the ficus, or you know those cute little Japanese bonsai trees? Just so we can take it into class and all that.” It wouldn’t be convenient to grow an oak somewhere on school grounds and bring the professor out to see and grade. Nell was certain there was also different kinds of tiny trees they could use, so she asked Sam, ”Got any other ideas for…medium-sized or so trees? Just so we’re not lugging around Mr. Ficus.” She didn’t have many trees in her studio apartment, of course, mostly flowers and plants. They took up a lot of space, but they made her more comfortable in the confined area. She could take her mind off the room andher claustrophobia when she simply thought of her plants. Plus, the oxygen was real nice.
