harley gave a quiet sigh as she looked around the empty room. both her and kansas had packed up their things, and were ready to head back to the academy. harley had a great summer, but she was ready to finish off her senior year. she wasn't sure what she would do, but she still had some time. with the small thought, harley left the room, and got into her grandmother's car. charolette played soft 80's music as she and kansas talked about school. honestly, harley couldn't wait to get back so she could see samson. yeah, it had only been a week, but that was only because charolette wanted her to spend quality family time with them. harley had pretty much spent her summer with samson. the red head smiled at the thought. harley was snapped out of her thoughts when charolette asked, "harley lilith, what on earth are you smiling about? is it that boy? you know, i have yet to meet this fellow. harley looked up at her from the backseat.
the girl shook her head up at the old woman, and said, "oh grandma. you know i want you to meet him, but you'll freak him out."
charolette snorted, and went back to conversation with kansas. before responding back, kansas turned around and wiggled her eyebrows at harley. the red head chuckled at her sister. twenty minutes later, the girls were standing at the academy watching charolette drive away. harley grabbed her bags, and started towards the fire dorms. after an hour of unpacking, harley fell on her bed. she had missed the comfort of the fire dorms; not that she didn't love charolette's, but harley never really felt comfortable living there. harley sighed, and pulled out her phone, and scrolled through until she reached samson's number. 'hey, meet me at the lake?' she texted him. with that, she tossed her phone on the bed, and changed into her bathing suit. she slipped on a pair of shorts, then quickly threw her hair up. she grabbed a towel, then headed to the lake. harley wasn't sure if samson would come, but she was sure he would text her and tell her. she was at the lake within minutes, and laid out her towel, then shimmed of her shorts in order to get a better tan line. outfit c:[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Samson slept little last night. Or rather, not at all. He actually couldn’t remember. When he returned home, all he remembered was falling over into his bed and turning all night. And unlike most children, he could blame his ‘mother’ for his exhaustion. It had been her idea to go to the old condemned house, which was probably illegal. But she knew the boy wouldn’t argue with her, couldn’t really argue with her. ‘This is wrong and illegal’ was not as powerful on the screen. So he was forced to squat as Beatrice lit candles and drew a circle, chanting words she most likely made up. The Thunder boy didn’t even know what they were trying to do, simply sat, staring at the dark beyond the reach of candle light.
Therefore, he decided to sleep in that day. He knew he should be heading back to the dorms, but he was sure nothing could pull him from his bed. And it was a pretty comfy bed, too. Antique with lots of plushy pillows and blankets—unsurprisingly, Beatrice decided to have a hand in decorating and so he had God’s Eyes everywhere on his walls and different other talismans he collected himself. The ringtone for his text messages woke him up, and without lifting his head, he felt around for the phone vibrating on the glass top of his night stand. Grabbing hold, he peaked over the blankets and saw that it was a text from Harley. To go to the lake. Well, that woke him up. Two things he loved—Harley and the lake. Of course, it took quite a bit of effort to pull himself out of bed, but after texting back ‘Be there soon’, he got dressed posthaste.
Soon enough—as promised—he was walking through the Academy grounds, ruffling up his unruly hair as he yawned one of his noiseless yawns. Summer had been great, and even though he would be going back to school, he would enjoy the heat as long as it lasted. Harley too, it seemed, for he found her sprawled out on her towel. And she looked pretty damn good. He stood over her looking down, his form blocking the sun and casting a shadow over the blanket. Hopefully she wouldn’t be too mad that he was interrupting her tanning.

honestly, harley was feeling a bit giddy, and very ready to see samson. she was dependent on him or anything, but she enjoyed seeing him. he gave a good feeling, and a sense of pride with herself. she had managed to do something right, right? harley smiled to herself, then glanced at her phone. she smiled to herself, and went on with her tanning. harley was pretty sure she wouldn't actually tan, but rather burn. she didn't care though, she was just happy to be back. because being back meant more ime with samson. while thinking about samson, a thought hit her: she would graduate before him. it wasn't like she still wouldn't see him, but it kinda saddened her that she might have to grow up sooner than him.
harley quickly dismissed her thoughts though. she didn't want to think about that just yet. they still had sometime to think about things like. there was still some doubt in harley's mind about how 'perfect' their relationship was. the red head was sure that sometying was bound to happen sooner or later. honestly, she hoped it was later rather than sooner. harley wanted this amazing thing to last as along as possible. that was just her old self talking though, right? she hoped that was right. harley tried to shake her paranoid thoughts though. she didn't want those kind of thoughts to ruin her time.
the fire student wasn't sure how much time had passed before samson had shown up. when he did, harley knew because his shadow fell over her. she placed a hand over her green eyes, and looked up at him. she smiled, and went to scrabble her way to a standing position. harley threw her arms around his neck, and hugged him for a while. she just didn't want to let go of him. harley raised herself up on her tippy toes, and planted a small kiss on his cheek. "hey, i'm glad you could come. i've missed you,
" harley said as she unwrapped her arms from his neck. so, i think we should have something dramtic happen to them. xDoutfit c:[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Honestly, Samson was apprehensively waiting the day Beatrice would voice her disapproval of the relationship between he and Harley. She had all the qualities of a mama bear, but it seemed that Harley had rubbed her the right way, considering words like “I don’t think she’s good for you” or “Another Fire girl?” never left the woman’s mouth. For which Samson was thankful. Even fi he didn’t have her on his side, though, he’d still just sneak around with Harley. There really wasn’t anything that could keep him from the girl. But if that ever happened, he’d have to think of ways to sneak around on another day. Right then, his brain was fizzing out. Like a bottle of soda that’s been sitting out in the sun for a long time.
When Harley stood, he turned his head to catch her lips instead and grinned at her. It felt good to have her in his arms again, he had to say. Now that they were back in school, he wouldn’t have to miss the feeling though. Pulling her down so that he could sit next to her on the towel, he pulled his phone out of his shorts. ”Missed you too, Har,” he wrote. Oh yes, Samson truly wished he could better convey affection over phone. Even when he didn’t think about his disability much, it was still there somewhere in his mind. He was very much aware that he was mute, after all. It wasn’t something you forgot about over time, especially when you spoke with people who could talk up a storm. Which is why he stayed away from a lot of people who could ramble on and on—it made him a bit jealous, he had to say. No, he wouldn’t say that. Samson was fine with his ‘condition’. Used to it now.
Shedding his shirt and throwing it on the sand, he texted out, ”Sorry if I’m a bit out of it. Séance with Bea last night.” He was tired enough that he could barely text out full sentences. Excluding ‘I’ and ‘me’ seemed to help with that, though. Hopefully he didn’t accidentally ‘slur’ his words on the screen and type out ‘ajLSKJNhkj’. He believed himself to be coherent enough to hold a decent conversation. He just needed to wake up a little first. Splash some water on his face. And this was the perfect place to do so. Just as he thought this, he received a text. Beatrice. ”How the hell are you up?” She must have discovered him missing. Smiling, he wrote back, ”Caffeine. I’m at school. Call you later.” And he sent that text, turning his attention and blurry eyes to Harley. Caffeine could only do so much.

Jolene's POV
There had to be a way to get him. Jolene wanted hin for herself; it's the only reason she even befriended his stupid girlfriend. With a quick movement, Jolene grabbed her phone, and proceeded to text Samson. She had to know what he was doing. Maybe they could hang out. 'Oh, Samson. What are you doing? Wanna chill?' Jolene hoped he wasn't with Harley. The girl was ruining Jolene's chances with him. There had to be something, something she could do to break them up. Well, at least speed it up.
Jolene lounged across the bed in her room, and thought back when she first met Harley. She had met her in the Fire common room, Jolene a year younger that Harley, had been having some 'trouble' with her History class. Of course this had just been a ploy to get close to the girl. Jolene had met Samson in one of their classes, and been interested ever since. Jolene believed he deserved much better than Harley. Since that day, Jolene has been weasling her way into Harley's life and finding out her dirty secrets. Jolene planned to use every drop of information to her advantage...
Harley's POV
Seeing Samson always made Harley's day, no matter the mood. Samson could always make her smile on a bad day. She could always look forward to his charming smile, and messy hair of his. Harley grinned when he turned his head to have her lips meet his. She had a hard time releasing him, but he looked dead tired. What had Beatrice done to him over night? Poor kid, Harley thought. Harley smiled, and leaned into Samson. She read his text, and grinned. "Good, that means I'm doing something right,
" she laughed. Harley laced her fingers through his, and sighed. It was nice, and really hoped it wouldn't end. Nothing stays perfect. You'll mess it up eventually, Harley's thoughts betrayed her. Harley mentally slapped herself for being such a debby downer. She knew that nothing was going to happen. She hoped anyways. Harley chuckled, and said, " That explains the bags under your eyes. You poor boy." Her other hand reached out, and traced the lines. She felt bad for taking his sleep away from him. She frowned at him, and said, " You could've said you were tired. We could've met up after got some sleep." Harley shook her head at him, but loved that he came out here to spend time with her instead of getting the much needed rest. She'd like to think that she hadn't noticed him shedding his shirt, but she did. Her green eyes lingered at his chest, and a blush creeped up to her cheeks. Obviously it was okay for her to look, but it never got old. Samson was just so gorgeous; Harley sighed. Things definatly couldn't get better than this. So, I did a seprate POV for Jolene. It was just easier that way. Once things get rollin, I'll change it.outfit c:[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]
Samson rolled his eyes, smile small and exhausted. But it was there for Harley. ”I’m still pretty, aren’t I?” he joked through written word, waggling his eyebrows for effect. Despite first appearances, he really was a jokester with an easygoing personality, to boot. You just needed to get to know him before he stopped being a dick to you. He’d known Harley for a while, and of course teased her like any guy did to their girl friends, but he never really was an outward dick. That would mean he’d have zero friends, and he liked having people he could get along with. Sure, communication was a problem, but if he really liked you he’d make a whole-hearted attempt.
He shook his head, typed out, ”It’s hard to get sleep in general. Chores need to be done. I wouldn’t have been up soon, anyway.” He was pretty much Beatrice slave boy, but at least he got paid. Still, she probably wouldn’t have allowed him to sleep in too long. And not just because she could act like a real mother sometimes, but because she was still his employer. She never got tired of that, either. Sam never resented the woman for it though. Clearing the box, he wrote on, ”I’d rather see you than get sleep anyway.” The romance and sweetness was lost with time as he had to backspace several times thanks to fingers clumsy from lack of sleep. It didn’t matter. ”I could take a nap here anyway.” And another sign that he really, really liked Harley was the fact that he was willing to write out so much for her just so she knew that he wanted to be there with her, sitting on the shore of the lake.
Samson could say he didn’t mind Harley looking at him, he enjoyed it actually. He wore a secret little smile, because the girl couldn’t hide that blush from him. He rolled his eyes and looked up at the sky when the phone vibrated again before sending Harley an exasperated look. It was a text from Jolene, a friend of his. But he was unaware she was also friends with his girlfriend. ”Hanging with Harley. I’ll see you later, though. Wanna meet up some time?” Of course, he wouldn’t ignore the friends he did have in favor of the redhead he was sitting next to right now, but he preferred her company to anyone else’s really. After the text, he decided to start some conversation, always glad that Harley could more than make up for his lack of speech. ”Hows your day been so far? Wit school and everything.” Again, he managed to screw up some of the typing, but he didn’t even bother to fix it this time, just looked at his phone with half-hearted exasperation.

harley's POV
Harley looked at Samson, and her eyes gave him the question of, 'are you serious?' Even though the question was ridiculous, Harley gave a small laugh. She nodded her head, telling him he was still pretty. He was more than pretty, even without the beauty sleep. Harley gazed at the boy for a moment, wondering - still- how she had gotten so lucky. They'd been dating for a few months, and Harley was still amazed in how lucky she had gotten. There were times when she wondered why her? Why be interested in a tempermental, emotional bagged Fire girl. As where he could be with a nice Thunder girl, one who wasn't a traitor or emotional wreck at times.
The Fire student shook her head, and said, "You are crazy, Sam. I'm pretty sure chores can wait; plus, you aren't superman.
" That didn't mean he wasn't her superman. Harley wasn't much for super heroes, but oddly enough, she wouldn't find it strange if Samson showed up in tights and costume one day. It would definatly be a sight, but Harley was pretty sure Samson wouldn't do that. No matter how much she begged him. Harley was in awe that he wanted to spend time with her. " Awh, Sam," Harley wrapped her arms around him, and kissed his temple. The red head grinned at him, and spoke, " Ah, nap time by a lake. The best place to nap, if I say so myself." Harley knew her blush had given her away. She cursed her pale cheeks on days like these. It wasn't like she hadn't seen him shirtless before, but now that they dated it was like she was seeing him different. Obviously she had liked him for a while, but it was just different now. Harley laid back on the towel, and pulled him with her. She rested her head against his chest, and listened to his heartbeat for a few moments before answering his question. " Oh, it's fine. Charolette dropped Kansas and I off a few hours ago. I unpacked most of my stuff, but got bored," she told him quietly. Jolene's POV"Hanging with Harley. I'll see you later, though. Wanna meet up sometime?" Jolene screeched at the message. That bitch! She was taking up her time with Samson! Jolene had to resist the urge to throw her phone across the room. This couldn't be happenng. How could her plan be set in motion if that ungrateful little bitch kept taking him from Jolene? Then, Jolene got a brilliant idea. She snached her phone from the floor, and proceeded to text Samson back. "Oh, well..I heard something about Harley. That's actually why I wanted to talk to you, Sammy."Jolene gave a cruel smile. Ah, she could feel victory among about to spring out at her. This was much easier than what sh had planned. She could tell Samson that Harley was cheating on him while she was there with him. Jolene laughed mechanically at the very idea of Harley crying as Samson walked away from her. To any obvious person, it would be apparent that Jolene needed mental help. Her obession with Samson was definatly getting out of hand, but there was no one there to stop her from getting away with it. Soon, Samso would be her's, and she could rub it in Harley's brokeb little heart. And so the plot thickens! dundundunnn. Wow, I didn't realize how mental Jolene is until now xDoutfit c:[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Just as Harley wondered how she bagged Samson, he wondered how he could have deserved her. It was his first time feeling like that in a relationship. In all the others, he knew exactly how it happened and what he did right. But when the pretty green eyed Fire elemental expressed her interest, it’s hard to believe that a mute introvert would have a chance. In all the ways he was silent, she was loud—Sam guessed they balanced each other out. ”Your lack of faith is disturbing,” he texted to her Superman comment. It was nice to have someone like her telling him that—instead of working him like a dog. Even though he was far from bitter, Samson did do most of the grunt work around the shop. Sometimes he was tempted to tell her, “I am not your bitch.” Or rather…text her. But it was the same idea. He leaned into Harley’s embrace, and smirked when she kissed his head. Yeah, he knew he was romantic. Even when half asleep.
Plopping down next to Harley, he wished that this moment could last for a while. Forever, maybe. If they could stay in this place, with her against him as they lay next to the lake, he would be perfectly content for a lifetime. Especially if he could listen to her talk about her life and family. It was astounding, how interesting he found her. ”Sounds like fun.” He lifted the phone above them, squinting in the sunlight. Jeez, the one time he didn’t want the sun to be bright. ”I’ll probably be staying in the dorms more now.” Beatrice could be overwhelming sometimes, and he’d much rather avoid her in the mornings. It wasn’t nice waking up to tribal music or pounding on his door. The Thunder dorms had none of that—hell, they were probably the quietest of all the dorms, though he wouldn’t know. Harley probably would, having defected in the war. At least he wasn’t angry with her, especially since she was back in his arms now.
Phone vibrating in his hand, the Thunder elemental sighed. He wanted to talk to Harley right now, thank you very much. It was Jolene again, and he would have ignored it save for what he read. Samson frowned at the words. He knew it was rude to be texting when he was with his girlfriend, but what Jolene wrote caught his interest. And worried him. ”Oh? What did you hear?” For some reason, a nervous anxiety worked its way into his stomach. But he convinced himself that it was nothing. He of all people understood how tone and meaning could be misconstrued through text. He decided to shrug it off for now, and just ran his fingers through Harley’s red hair, just enjoying being with her like this.
(I AM ENJOYING THIS TOO MUCH, KAY)

harley's POV
The red head loved that the two could joke around like they were. Harley smiled at his text, and shook her head. She had a lot of faith in him. Sometimes more than she wanted to have in someone else, but it was hard not to with Samson. "I have faith in you, but everyone needs a break. Including you,
" Harley said simply. Despite him being her superman, he needed to sleep. Even if that meant her having to give up sometime with him. Harley would rather he be in good health then be slur texting her. Though it was funny to watch him text out the simpest word, and it be a struggle for him. Obviously he was exhausted, and she had the urge to take him phone from him, and make him sleep. It was times time these, Harley wished it would last forever. Just to lay there in Samson's arms would be the perfect bliss for Harley. They didn't even need to talk, or text, for her be happy. She was just estatic to be in his arms at all. It was definatly a dream come true for her. Squinting, Harley was able to read his message. " Yeah, Charolette keeps bothering me to introduce the two of you. It doesn't help Kansas keeps talking about you." Harley smirked at him before going to read the next part of his message. She turned her greens eyes to him, happiness written all over her face. " Really? That's great," Harley said excitedly. It'd be nice to have him closer. Harley wasn't usually bothered when Samson was texting with people. It just gave her more time to think, but something about the way his face reacted to the last one he read made her curious as to who was texting him. Who was making him distracted like that? Surely not another girl. Harley's thoughts when back to before about how everything that seems perfect always ends. God, she hoped that didn't happen. She was momentarily taken away from her worries when she felt Samson run his fingers through her hair. Harley smiled, and traced his lips with the tip of her thumb. Why couldn't it just say this way? jolene's POVJolene couldn't help but grin when Samson texted her back quickly. That meant she had put the suspicion in his mind, and that her plan was in motion. Jolene took her time answering, wanting him to squirm, and worry about what could possibly involve his precious girlfriend. Jolene felt herself getting bitter, so reminded herself what the end results would be soon enough. The blonde flipped her hair over her shoulder, and began to text Samson back, 'Well, I heard that she was um, talking to another guy. I'm not sure who the guy is though, but I think he is a Fire guy. I'm sorry Samson.' Of course Jolene wasn't really sorry. She was too excited for this. SAME HURR, STARKEH.outfit c:[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Samson’s eyes lit with amusement at the mention of Harley’s family. ”I’m an interesting topic of conversation, huh?” He wrote. Well, that was a boost to his ego. Not that he had much of an ego. Probably why he still didn’t understand why Harley was with him right now, lying on this towel in a perfect moment. And it was perfect, despite the fact that the hamster on the wheel in his head was dying of exhaustion and he could barely keep his eyes open. It was still pretty freaking nice.
But of course it couldn’t stay like that. Keeping half his attention focused on Harley and her lips on his, he looked at the next text, screen turned so that Harley wouldn’t be able to read it if she’d wanted to. The worse part about texting, it was easier to lie. Too easy. You couldn’t read emotion, couldn’t read anything really. And this is what got Samson—he froze. Time must have stopped for a moment, even though there were people still moving around him. As if nothing happened. As if he hadn’t just been crushed through a text. He didn’t reply. A sickness was bubbling in his stomach.
A Fire guy? His first thoughts went to Dale, but then he remembered that he had a girlfriend now, the same person both he and Harley had defected for. But that didn’t even matter. All that mattered was that it was like Samson’s worse nightmare coming true. Perhaps it was his doubt that made him so succeptible to Jolene’s words, but he never claimed to be the most certain kind of guy. He shifted up from the towel, suddenly feeling like a stranger in Harley’s arms. It took him a moment before he was able to text, ”I should get home to sleep.”
And with that, he stood without even a kiss goodbye, and walked away. He was a coward, he knew that. He didn’t know what to make of what Jolene said. But remembering that he didn’t say anything back to the girl, he texted, ”Thanks for telling me. I appreciate it.” But did he? Did he appreciate this terrible feeling? This tightness in his chest? No, he really didn’t.

harley's POV
It was obvious when the mood shifted between the couple. Harley instantly became nervous because whatever was being said through text was making things awkward between Samson and her. Harley gave Samson a small smile, and nodded. "Yes. I guess Kansas sees you sometimes, but doesn't have the courage to come talk to you.
Harley's voice came out quiet, and she was feeling reserved. The red head was unsure of what was going on but she wasn't liking it at all. Harley was getting frustrated; who in the bloody hell was he texting? Harley was momentarily distracted by his lips on hers, but her irrtation was about to boil over when he stopped to read a text message. The fact that he had turned the screen so she couldn't read it upset her. Usually she didn't get bothered by something like that, but it was apparent that something was going on. The red head sat up quickly, and wrapped her arms around her knees. Moments after this action, Samson had shoved his phone in her face telling her he was leaving. Harley jerked her head to the side and eyed him. Why did she get the feeling he was lying? When Samson walked away without even a goodbye kiss- which he always had given her- Harley knew something was a miss. The Fire student jumped up, and called after him, " Samson! Samson, is everything okay?" Harley reached out for his arm, but it slipped her grasp. Had she done something? jolene's POVJolene gave a smile at Samson's text message. Perfection. Now, to be the supporting friend. After that, Jolene could make her move on him. She'd have him at a vunerable spot after he and Harley break up; Samson would need a shoulder to lean on. Jolene happily texted the boy back, 'I'm really sorry, Samson. Do you wanna talk? We can meet up in Maple Hollows for lunch.' Jolene went to her closet and began to pick an outfit out. She kbew she had to look casual, but cute too. After your post, I can make the thread.outfit c:[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]
Samson knew that he was making Harley uncomfortable by now, and he couldn’t help but bitterly think that it was a good thing. He so easily bought into Jolene’s lie that now he felt such resentement toward his (ex)girlfriend. But it was all from heartbreak, because that must have been what was happening in his chest right then, an acute pain stabbing at him. I hope you’re uncomfortable. And I hope you regret it. He really wished he didn’t have such sour thoguhts toward a girl he’d been pretty sure he was in love with—a girl who he never wanted to let go of. But it was clear his feelings were not returned.
He heard her call after him, but he just minutely shook his head. Yes, there was something very wrong. It was everything he was feeling and everything she was doing. He felt himself shaking a bit, but he wasn’t going to cry. Boys didn’t cry, after all. So he just took a deep breath as he headed to the Thunder dorms, not wanting to go home and deal with Beatrice at a time like this. Even so, staying at the Academy meant being around Harley, and that was almost too much to bear. She’d betrayed him in the worst way.
And Samson believed Jolene to be a good friend in offering her support. He smiled a bit. ”Yeah, sure. Meet you there.” Okay, maybe he wouldn’t be getting sleep after all. But a friend would be good right now, especially since he didn’t have exactly too many in that department. And one less. Because he would have relied on Harley for many things, but that trust was shattered now, and he didn’t think there was anything to repair it. Still, before he did anything in terms of breaking it off, he needed to organize his thoughts. Hopefully talking to Jolene would help with that. She was the messenger, after all, perhaps she could tell him exactly what to do.
[sounds good. <33]
