"asha! are your teeth sharpened or something? damn!" was the pained cry that some let out when asha had pounced over to them and sunk her teeth into their shoulder. she had her teeth dug deeply into their skin, she felt some peculiar satisfaction from feeling her teeth indent marks. could she be considered masochistic? that word had never crossed her mind, she had never thought that she was extreme enough to actually draw pleasure from witnessing someone else in writhing agony. minor violence was just the way that asha chose to express her affection. some people settled with tight embraces and soft kisses placed on cheeks, asha preferred sudden tackles and latching her teeth onto an exposed part of the body.
she couldn't supply an answer yet, her teeth were still lodged into shea's shoulder. her teeth hadn't rested deep enough into the flesh of her shoulder, this bite was one that had the potential to scar. shea could flaunt bite marks all over her body where asha had landed her teeth into her and refused to release her until she was satisfied. her arms were wrapped around her securely and she had her pinned firmly under her on the slightly charred couch in the fire dormitory. she gnawed her teeth together against shea's skin and grinned wickedly when she gave out a yelp. after salivating conveniently she pulled her teeth away from shea's shoulder then nuzzled her face against shea's bare back. "i get them sharpened once a week. it's a damn expensive treatment too," asha playfully said into her back, nudging her nose against shea to make her giggle furiously.
shea found that the roughness that asha treated her with never bothered her too much. she would shove others around and prod at them for entertainment but she never nipped at them or took them down with her surprise tackles. she was her best friend, that was the kind of behavior that she deserved because she was on a whole other platform. she wiggled underneath asha, silently trying to communicate that her grip was threatening to put her arms to sleep. asha didn't loosen her strong hold on her, only pressed herself against shea. in response the tanned girl let out a shriek of revolt. "ew, ash! your boobs or sweating or something! i can feel it on my back!'" shea began to squirm fiercely and asha moved accordingly with her, she stuck to her carefully so that she wouldn't be thrown off and bucked to the floor. "shea, you of all people would know that because of the sweltering heat my chest perspires profusely," asha murmured into shea's hair, giggling because of how comical she found this all to be.
the pair didn't bother to raise their heads when the sound of clomping footsteps was heard, none of the other fire students were considerate and had no issues with causing a ruckus. the two tended to be oblivious of everything that happened around them, the problems of others didn't apply to them when they were in the presence of each other. asha only had to keep shea in mind, everyone else that lingered around in the fire dormitory could have passed as stone pieces in the castle to her. she bit at shea's shoulder again when she failed to answer her quickly enough, her teeth fit back into the deep grooves that each of her teeth had formed on her shoulder. shea began to flail around frantically in her grip, conjuring up the reaction that asha had been expected.
a finger tapped lightly on her back and asha legitimately let out a snarl at the interruption. it was never appreciated when someone thought they had the supremacy to decide when her time with shea could be paused by the need to tend to something frivolous. "exuse me?" a bored tone droned out, sounding like this was something they couldn't be bothered with. "what?!" asha snapped out, tearing her teeth from shea and craning her head to the side to meet the gaze of a lanky sophomore girl with a bad hair dye and running mascara. the girl gave an impatient tap of her foot and then raised the hand that had been resting on her hip to gesture towards the entrance to the fire dormitory. "i hate to cut this lesbo fest short but some earth kid told me that i should tell you that down in the dungeons a few fire kids are tormenting the earth leader," her nasally tone chirped out before she turned sharply on her heel and vanished immediately.
shea squirmed out from under asha, who was preoccupied with staring at the empty spot where the girl had been standing. she shot asha a puzzled glanced, her eyebrows knitted together in confusion. "what the hell does that scrawny kid have anything to do with you? you just use him as a form of entertainment." shea's term was slightly demanding, which earned her a shove from asha that sent her toppling back into a laying position on the couch. "fuck, it's time for me to go play superhero. i'm that one hero who swoops in half naked and still saves the day," asha huskily said, rolling her eyes as she climbed off the cough. her sweatshirt was draped over the couch, she earnestly pulled at it and let out a sigh before darting out of the fire dormitory. "you don't have shoes!" shea called out to her, frowning deeply as the half naked figure of her best friend exited the common room.
her reddened arms, delicate because of the scarring process, pumped at her sides while her bare feet skimmed over the stone floor of the castle. she let out short breaths, telling herself that this was a race against the clock and the less time it took the more of a chance there was to find ashton still whole. why was she even fretting over ashton? her fellow fire brethren had licked their flames at plenty of the other earth elementals and asha hadn't even battered an eyelash their way. she didn't have enough of a conscious to feel shameful that she was allowing them to torment innocent elementals. something pulled on her heartstrings when she had to open her mind to the thought that the hulking fire students had laid their fists on ashton and were dragging him down to the dungeons. they antagonized their victims with slowly burning them then left them to suffer with their burns by locking them in the dungeons. she felt no shame on a daily basis, they could nag at the naive students all they pleased but having ashton in their grasp wasn't something that she could condone.
asha skidded to a stop at the first dungeon cell then she groaned when she realized that they could have lugged him off into the deepest cell if they had enough force to commander him. who am i kidding? that kid wouldn't put up a fight. maybe he's screaming.... she thought to herself, mentally slapping herself. she grew silent, straining to try and pick up and sounds that would hint her to which part of the dungeons they were located in. "get off of me, you assholes! if you weren't -" the cry was weak and frustrated then abruptly cut of by a weak grunt. her heart began to flutter with panic then she had to set her priorities straight. she would come to the rescue, burn some fuckers, and then go tend to the kid and hope that they hadn't traumatized him beyond compare. she took a deep breath and picked a direct path to where she thought they would have nestled ashton away. why did she feel the desperate need to rescue him?
her body was covered in a thin gleam of sweat, the pure exhilaration of the situation causing her body to panic but filling her with an energy that made her feel slightly invincible. it was an arrogant thought, the goons that had though they could abduct ashton could easily outnumber her. she wasn't worried on whether or not it would come down to a show of skills, asha was assured that she had the most reformed fighting technique out of her whole element. the bottoms of her feet pressed down hard against the uneven layout of the dungeon floor and a jagged rock jabbed right in the center of her foot. she gave a weak moan at the stab of pain but continued to press on. the dungeon cell she was anticipating to see them in was located in the far corner of the castle, an injured foot wouldn't stop her pursuit.
her guess had been correct, the exact cell that she had assumed was where the three fire students had delivered ashton to. asha didn't register how comical she looked when she finally burst into the cell. her entrance hadn't been swift, her breath was heavy from the sprinting she had done and her body crashed against the wall because she hadn't been able to cut off her momentum. the three boys whirled around in alarm, taking their sights off the battered ashton but keeping their grips on him unrelenting. "you fuckers are going to get it," asha barked, her voice sounding sinister with a glare to match. they boys have erupted into fits of laughter at the sight of her if her tone hadn't made their very cores shiver. the three of them all had past encounters with asha woods, one of them even had a burn scar on their forearm to prove that she was truly a menace.
it was a sweeping execution of her abilities, she hadn't even had to summon a single sphere of fire or anything to show that she had no intentions of playing around. she uttered a few low curses and insults them that lured them away from ashton and directly towards her. their feathers had been easily ruffled but they stood around her hesitantly. did they have the right to strike at a half naked girl? asha used that advantage and pounced at the boy standing closest to her. one swift kick to his gut at he was doubled over an yowling with pain. the second boy came towards her and all it took was a windup of her fist that followed through with a satisfying crunch of her knuckle meeting with his nose. the third boy gave her a look that screamed terror and moved out of her way to give her complete access to ashton. "you are all fucking cowards," asha growled out to them, cradling her throbbing hand against her stomach and glowering at them. they cleared the dungeon in a minute flat, asha even rumbled out a few more threats to encourage them to hurry along.
now her full attention was focused on ashton, he was slumped over in the darkened corner and she thought that she could hear him quietly moaning. "asha to the rescue. never would have thought that would happen, huh?" she said to him, her tone sounding bitterly pleasant. she reaped some satisfaction from knowing that she would be considered his savior now. "oh god, don't tell me they burned you..." asha mumbled frantically, dropping her crippled hand to her side and falling down to her knees. she crawled over to him and with her hand still capable of function softly prodded at his cheek in an attempt to arouse him from his stupor. her eyes grazed over him and she let her face screw up in disgust when she saw the raw burns on his shoulders that had burned through the material of his clothing. they had gone through with a signature move, grasping at their shoulders until their hands heated enough to burn directly through their clothing and sear their skin. "at least you aren't pussy enough to start crying. damn though, those burns look devilish..." asha murmured, dropping his face closer to have her half naked hover over his to inspect the burns more closely.

It most certainly wasn't his day, and Ashton knew this the moment he saw the trio of Fire elementals ghosting closer to him from further down the hall. There were people around and so they weren't stupid enough to try anything quite yet, but Ash was well-versed in the 'look' of the hunting Fire kids. They'd came after him before, of course, but this was war and he was the stand-in Earth leader. That meant that his head on a silver plate would be worth something to their side. They didn't want him dead like they did Nell, Ash didn't think they would kill him, but he wouldn't put it past them to break his arm or snap his leg--something to put him out of the war and make his element vulnerable. He hated that. This in mind, he tried his best to take the popular routes to classes even if they took much longer, he ate in the mess hall with the biggest group of friends he could seem to gather, and he made sure to never take his eyes off of the three. They definitely appeared to be targeting him--they were everywhere he was. He thought for a moment that he'd lost them, but then he saw them lounging and smirking in a secluded corner of the hall, their breakfast lying abandoned as if they were interested in a much more interesting activity. He swallowed nervously and tried his best not to clue his friends in to the fact that something was putting him off, even though those closer to him kept asking if he was okay. "I'm fine, just a bit tired this morning," was his constant response, and then he'd be laughing and joking again as if nothing was wrong.
It wasn't pride that stopped him from asking some of his friends to keep him company for the day. There was safety in numbers, he'd learned that and he likely should have taken advantage of it. It was selflessness. Ashton didn't want to risk the chance that his friends might get hurt if these Fire elementals got out of hand and attacked them as a group. He knew that the Fire kids had a pack mentality and that if they saw him travelling in a group they might just expand their own group and attack anyway, sort of an intimidation tactic. You can't run, you can't hide, and you especially can't hide behind a wall of support--no matter how large. His Water elemental friends would have been a great help, but he didn't think to ask them to walk with him. Instead, he departed from the mess hall and left alone. They cornered him quickly and effectively the moment he turned down an unfortunately empty hall, seeming to materialize around him out of nowhere. He could feel their heat as they walked close, snickering amongst themselves. "Hey there, Ashton," one of them said with a faked pleasant tone. "How's our favourite Earth leader this morning?" He'd tried to just ignore them, but apparently that hadn't been a good idea. Instead of giving up their little game and leaving him alone when he refused to talk to them, one of them took hold of his wrist and jerked hand, stopping him in his tracks. Whilst he was paused, the other two swooped in and blocked off the exits.
Oh, god, Ashton thought as he began to panic internally, realising how bad this had the potential to get. He was terrified but he didn't want to show it, trying his best at bravery as he insisted, "Let me go, you three. I've got classes to get to and they're going to realise I'm gone." Laughter erupted from the group, the harsh sound grating on his ears and making the poor guy cringe. "Oh, you think you're tough, big boy?" The one holding his wrist twisted it back--not enough to break or sprain it, just enough to cause an explosion of agony that made Ash cry out in pain and wince back. Automatic tears wanted to spring to his eyes, but he fought them back as he tried to struggle away from the other student. "Let go!" he snapped, sounding more angry and forceful this time. He didn't have a temper, but Ashton Raleigh wasn't a complete pushover. His show of possible toughness turned out to be a bad idea when a second Fire boy grasped his shoulder roughly, laughing. Ash didn't get what was so funny until he felt the heat started to seep through to his skin. He struggled violently for a moment, but they only shoved him hard against the wall to drive the breath from his lungs, then continued the process. The third boy took the liberty of burning his other shoulder, with a hiss of, "We'd like them to match."
As if that wasn't enough, burning him didn't seem to be the end of their game. Whilst Ashton was cringing with pain and valiantly fighting back the tears that stung against his eyes, the one who'd first grabbed him slung a rough and muscled arm around his shoulders. "I think you oughta come with us for a bit, Raleigh," he said in a sneer. "We've got a secret place for you to hang out." The other pitched in with a snide, "All alone." Ashton was almost sure they were indicating the dungeons, and the third confirmed, "I reckon it'll be a few days before anyone shows up to bail you out. Maybe that'll teach you to oppose us, eh?" He couldn't help but think that this wouldn't be happening if Ashton wasn't the stupid Earth leader and how things would be a lot nicer if he maybe stepped down. But no, they'd just get someone to take his place, and he couldn't live with himself knowing he'd willingly subjected someone else to the torment he was currently suffering. Despite his pain and the fact that he was very outmatched, he continued to struggle with them as they literally had to drag him toward the dungeon stairs. "Get off of me, you assholes!" he said, the expletive clearly showing how upset he was. Ashton hardly ever swore. "If you weren't--"
His voice was cut off by a groan--one of the boys took the initiative and clamped his hand down on one of his burned shoulders, causing it to erupt in pain. His strength was severely depleted, and by the time they wrestled him down the stairs and into one of the cells, Ashton was actually beginning to lose a bit of consciousness. Things were hazy, and it didn't immediately register that it was Asha who'd busted in to save him. Instead, his eyes drifted shut as he fought back the nausea the burns were inducing. God, this was so terrible. He heard cries of pain and then footsteps as the other Fire elementals ran off, and then suddenly there was someone crouched down beside him and speaking to him, finger poking into his cheek. Ashton's eyes fluttered open again, hazy green depths seeming confused. "Asha," he mumbled, his voice weak--but hell, at least he wasn't crying. His lips twitched in response to her humour, but it wasn't really funny enough to coax a laugh from him, the situation was too serious. "No, I don't think I'd ever have expected this..." Not even when he'd gone through all the trouble of saving her life--and these guys hadn't even been planning on killing him! See, Ashton didn't view things as debts to be repaid. He didn't know that this made them 'even'.
It registered to him then what she was wearing--erm, not wearing--and even through his pain his cheeks managed to flush with colour. He would have looked away out of respect for a girl's modesty, but there wasn't exactly anywhere to look with her practically looming over him. Instead, he tried to focus more on their conversation as opposed to her half-naked form. "It's not too bad," he tried to lie bravely when she seemed upset about the burns, though he wrecked this credibility when he shifted his position and his shoulders exploded with agony. "FFF-Shit," he hissed through clenched teeth, modest enough even in pain that he corrected his own cussing. It wasn't like he was a priss and thought all swearing was unacceptable, Ash himself just didn't have that much of a foul mouth. "They'll be fine," he said, "I'll go to the Medical Wing later, no big deal." Of course it was a big deal. He was in tons of pain and he was still fighting the urge to cry, but Ash didn't like to worry people. And he was more concerned with Asha right now, oddly enough. "They didn't hurt you or anything, did they...?"

the worry and concern that was pitted at the bottom of her stomach gnawed at her and made it so that she was easily worked up into a panic. the stifling anxiety was an overwhelming emotion that she felt whenever aspen worked himself into a dilemma that could be only end with her baby brother coming out with the short end of the the stick. her brother was always worming in his way into a colorful variety of trouble, it panicked asha because he was so fragile and seeing him hurt actually made it feel like her soul was crying. asha could only compare her feelings now to what happened when aspen came to her with some injury from the latest of his excursions. how was it that she was suffering from immeasurable amounts of worry over the stand in earth leader, ashton raleigh? asha woods never experienced emotions of distress and worked herself up in a frenzy over others, she was only concerned for her own well being and occasionally spared a thought for shea and aspen. her feelings towards ashton had suddenly grown inscrutable and she wasn't sure if she wanted to pry past the surface to try and jump deeper into comprehension. seeing ashton splayed out in the dungeon with his mind fuzzy and his wounds visible fed to a rage inside of asha. a thirst for revenged sprouted within her and she silently vowed that the three fire chumps would regret ever thinking that they could slip by on the thought of injuring ashton. it was an odd notion, to want to reach out and embrace ashton and give her best attempt to soothe him. what the hell was happening to asha woods?
his mind didn't seem to be anywhere near comprehension. ashton hadn't yet pieced together that the person who had swooped into to steal the glory and rescue him from the evil villains had been asha woods of all people. she was slowly warming herself to the idea that she had acted nobly, albeit recklessly, and done something that could be classified as selfless. selfless? selfless wasn't a word that asha had ever associated herself, it was a definition that she wasn't quite sure she fully understood. selfish was a word that she could easily recognize, the words brat and greedy could be paired along nicely with it. selfish wasn't the word though, it was selfless. she had done something selfless, she had acted just like ashton when he had dove into the lake and fished her drowning self out. asha woods was now pooled concernedly over the earth elemental and prodding at him gently to assure that he was still slightly conscious and properly breathing. his eyes fluttered open and asha nearly jumped back with surprise, she hadn't been expecting him to reach any state of clarity but his eyes had fluttered open and showed her clear confusion. "yeah, i'm asha. to be more correct i can also be considered your savior," asha teased slightly, her lips quirking to make a twisted smile even though he was in agony and her own hand was dully throbbing. she gave a soft attempt at a laugh and then frowned when only a strangled sigh passed through her lips. "it's not something that should be expected, i usually don't have a heart," she weakly jaunted, taking a stab at herself in hopes to try and lighten the somber mood.
in this situation, in any type of scenario really, asha had no shame in the actions that she took. this occasion with ashton was no different from anything else. her body was half exposed and it was nothing to her, she was still poured over him and trying to take in the total damage of is burns. all year round she prowled around the fire dormitories half dressed, the heat easily got to her and she would have been constantly irritated if she left herself fully dressed. a very girlish giggle escaped from her and she pulled herself back, allotting ashton his personal space but placing herself close enough to peer at him carefully. her eyes lit up and she couldn't refrain from jostling him slightly, through and through she was still asha. she arched her stomach slightly and raised her arms in a mock stretched, her subtle muscles shone on her stomach and she was laughing silently. "is there something wrong with the way that i am dressed? don't like the hearts?" asha feigned a puzzled lock as she glanced down at her shorts and picked at them with a frown. he commented on the state of her shoulders and asha was about to call him out on his bluff when he shifted and blew the lie that he had stated. immediately she reached out and grabbed at his sides gently and directed him to lay his head in her bare lap. absently she stroked a hand over his hair, it was a thoughtless action she had done to aspen countless times and thought nothing of it. "you can say fuck, you wuss," asha said to him, laughing lowly because she found his restraint comical. he mentioned the medicial wing and she looked down at him sternly. "i'll even take you there myself," she swore to him, her voice lingering with a hint of protectiveness. asha swatted at ashton with her good hand he questioned her about her own health. at the moment she wasn't worried that her hand was slightly numbing. "i think i broke my hand, it's nothing. we need to focus on you."

For some reason it amused the ailing Earth boy when she called herself his saviour, flaunting it as if she was proud of the fact. He'd never known a Fire student to act valiantly or selflessly in his defence before; at all, really. Still, he wasn't going to take away her pride in the situation or dull it down. She had indeed saved him from a rough spot--the Fire students might have done even worse than they already had if she hadn't turned up and cleared them out and for that the stand-in leader was eternally grateful. He didn't really understand why Asha had helped him at all, but he still gave her the benefit of the doubt as he chuckled and joked, "That you are. Asha Woods, my knight in shining armour." He rolled his eyes in a good-natured manner despite his pain, but he was being sincere as he said, "Thank you, really. I don't know what else they'd have done if you hadn't turned up." He had vague ideas thanks to the sorts of things they'd been sneering at him as he was hauled off to his doom in the dungeons, but nothing solid. At any rate, the boy at least knew it would have been bad and that his dear saviour had, well, saved him, from quite a lot of hell. "Or a soul," Ashton joked. Joking helped him to distract his mind from the searing burns on his shoulders and he even managed a wan smile as he said, "I dunno, I'd argue you've got quite a prominent one." She had attacked him in the past and may have even joined in on this fest of bullying before, but the point was that she did not attack him now. And to Ash, the here and now was all he'd ever judge you for. The boy was a good person in that sense. Wrong him once, wrong him twice, but make an actual effort to improve and he'd likely accept you anyway.
Of course, this also meant that Ashton was a little bit easy to manipulate, vulnerable. Some might even call him a pushover because the kid was so willing to accept an honest desire to change even if that 'honesty' was a cock and bull lie. He'd had 'friends' and even girlfriends in the past whom he'd taken at face value only to be stabbed in the back when they proved to him that honesty was not their best policy. And yet he still trusted people too easily. So when Asha saved him, he was willing to wipe their awkward slate clean of everything she'd done to him and start fresh. This was probably why he smiled so easily as blush coloured his cheeks. "Sorry, I just didn't expect--" Expect what? A half-nude chick to prance into the dungeons and save the day for him? Actually, that was exactly what Ashton Raleigh had not been expecting, thus why it came as such a surprise to him when it happened. "U-Um no, you look fine. Great, actually." And he was blushing even harder now as he acknowledged what he knew to be true. Asha was very pretty even with the bad burns on her arms, he'd just never taken much notice of it before because she was usually trying to kill him and that wasn't the best time to judge a book by its cover.
The Earth boy arched an eyebrow at her--she thought he was being a wuss because he didn't swear? Actually, it was more out of habit that he corrected his language. His grandma always threatened to slap him silly if he said one foul word around her, and now that the old woman was living with them he had to be extra careful. His mother occasional let slip the occasional 'shit' or 'fuck', but good ol' grandma wouldn't hear a word of it. "Fuck you, Asha," he said almost playfully, actually sticking his tongue out at her. He had a good sense of humour even when his normally bright emerald eyes were clouded with pain. The burns were a hell of a hassle but they weren't nearly as bad as Asha's had been (the Fire elementals had just been getting started, after all) so he was able to keep himself from shedding tears even though he winced every time he moved. He hadn't expected her to shift him or stroke his hair, it was something strange that no one had ever done to him before. At the same time it was not entirely unpleasant, and the Earth boy didn't think to protest. "I thought you hated the medical wing," he protested when she swore to take him there, not liking the idea of forcing Asha into something she was uncomfortable with.
Green eyes went wide as saucers and filled with distress as she oh-so-casually referenced her broken hand, shaking his head and immediately shifting back into a sitting position so that he could stare at her in shock the proper way. "No, no we do not!" the Earth student insisted worriedly. "Broke it? Jeez, Asha! How'd you manage that?" Then he winced. "Gah, it was because of me, wasn't it?" Well, now he both felt like shit and really, really guilty. He cracked a lame attempt at a smile, however. "Looks like we both need the wing now, huh?"

how was it that ashton raleigh was making her feel alive, like she actually felt some sort of accomplishment from doing something good? asha didn't particularly enjoy doing things for others, it was too much of a hassle because of their expectations. she was much more content with having people think of her as a selfish bitch then going around and reaching out assist everyone. someone else could sweep down and save the distressed, someone like ashton. asha peered down at him and let out a little laugh when she imagined ashton zooming around and wearing a flowing cape like superman or something. asha was more of the even villain, swathed in black leather and tall spiky boots. yes, she liked that mental image. he called her his knight in shining armor which caused her eyes to squint and nose to scrunch up. "i don't think i would look very attractive in chain mail and the helmets with the bizarre looking feathers," asha retorted, giving her head a firm shake to stress that she didn't enjoy the image of her as a knight. a knight was the image of someone grand and selfless, they were easily noted and people admired them for the valor. was that the sort of person that she could be described as? hell no. "no, don't even say those words. they would have devoured you, i'm aware. i came to the rescue and they didn't. no need to say anything else," asha assured him gruffly. her mind wasn't eager to dwell on the choice of options that could have been presented if she hadn't mad an appearance. she lifted her operating hand and laid it gently over the left side of her chest. "look at that, my heart does beat. that must mean a soul is somewhere in there too," asha quipped with a wry smile.
she absently began to compare their two personalities, something that made her realize how opposite the two of them stood. ashton was gentle, selfless, modest and concerned. she could also add forgiving onto that list. asha furrowed her brows, trying to create a negative trait to balance out all of the pureness that she was finding in ashton. after a bit of debate asha decided that he seemed to be type that could be easily manipulated with the right type of approach towards him. asha wouldn't assume that he was a pushover, she had heard him trying to retaliate against the fire goons and thought that he would draw lines when someone tried to press his boundaries. asha was aggressive, selfish, shameless, and uncaring. everything sinister that ashton lacked could be discovered in asha. she made a face at this then decided that to simply shrug it off. the way that she shaped out to be was something that she took pride in, nothing would ever reform who she had fleshed out be. her mind pried off of the heady subject and she allowed herself to become quickly amused by the smile and blush that were being displayed on ashton's face. using her pointer finger she once again prodded gently at his cheek then drew a circle around the blush. "i'm making you blush, you're blushing," asha crooned out, her voice sounding childish as she withheld the sudden urge to giggle feverishly. he was getting caught on his words and asha simply stared down at him with a light sparked in her eyes. she gave an exaggerated roll of her body and willed herself not to burst out into laughter. "i'm going to slip into a conceited state but by half naked body must be a turn on, i completely understand. i'd go after me if i was a guy," asha said to him, giving him a wink that was inscrutable.
profanity was something that asha had a raging relationship with that would never calm down. one moment she would be letting her mouth go and it would easily rival a sailor or trucker mouth then the next she would be rolling her eyes at how vulgar the words sounded in her mouth. the words that came out of her mouth didn't go through a filter, whatever came out was totally unedited and at times would even surprise asha herself. her eyes widened slightly in alarm when ashton freely let out the words fuck you and said them playfully. he stuck his tongue out at her too, further proving that he had shifted into a joking mood with her. usually she would snap back instantly because she would never stand to have anyone speak to her that way. instead she resulted to retorting by sticking her tongue out at him. "you like your girls feisty in bed, ashton? huh, i never would have imagined." her light tone had vanished almost instantly when he protested against her swear to deliver him to the medical wing. she narrowed her eyes and pinned him with a piercing glare. "that doesn't mean i can't take you there," she softly snapped at him. her dislike of the medical wing was solely based on how much it would damage her pride and nothing else. at the mention of her broken hand ashton shot straight up and his head left her lap. asha had to talk herself out of letting a pout grace her lips. had she really laid his head in her lap?! "i didn't come down here just to smash my fist into a kid's face did i?" asha grumbled, absently nursing her hand while her feathers slightly ruffled. "try to take me to the medical wing and i will tackle you down and pin you to the ground," asha threatened, her eyes dark pools as he stared warily at him.

The image of Asha as a literal knight made Ashton laugh. He couldn't help himself--even with the burns and the fatigue, it was absolutely hilarious to imagine her wearing one of those goofy feathered helmets and charging into battle. He tipped his head a little. "Hmm... if you're not a knight, then what should I call you, O Savior?" he joked, winking at her. Jesus. What was he doing? Why was he sitting here and joking with Asha Woods, the Asha Woods, the girl who would normally be using him as a living punching bag by now? At the same time, while it felt like he should absolutely one-hundred percent be running and screaming in terror, this also felt natural. Felt nice. And that was something that the boy didn't really understand what to do with. He was going to continue being just as kind and nice to her as he always was, but he wasn't quite sure if she was going to continue being nice to him. "At least you aren't ginger. They definitely don't have souls." He grinned a little sheepishly at the corny joke. Yeah, so it was super common and everyone made jokes about that and blah, blah, blah, but hey--give the guy a break. He was joking when it felt like he wanted to rip his shoulders from his body, that was a pretty admirable effort. Asha was helping, surprisingly. Her presence and her humour was helping him to take his mind off of the pain and the upset the stupid Fire elementals had caused.
She was indeed making him blush, and her tone coupled with the fact that she pointed it out only made him blush harder, ducking his head slightly and laughing a little. "Maybe just a little," he admitted. She made a comment about how hot her half-naked self must be, and didn't that add some more spice of awkwardness into their conversation? Ashton was now positively red as a tomato, but he still had enough guts to admit something. "You'd be a turn on for any guy even if you were dressed like a nun." See, Ashton was pretty honest. Unfortunately that meant he couldn't lie to her by pretending that he wasn't at all attracted to her. The blush in his cheeks might as well have been permanent as he couldn't help but wonder something: was she attracted to him in any way? Of course she isn't, he chided, being self-doubtful as usual. Ashton had been with quite a few girls but all of the relationships had ended in crash-and-burn situations, so he had eventually just come to the conclusion that he was hopeless in romantic pursuits and all but given up. Many people weren't good enough, he was too good. Too open, too trusting, too honest in every sense of the word.
He rolled his eyes with amusement as she turned it into a sexual sort of joke, but he was not unappreciative of the humour as he laughed and replied, "Yeah, totally. I can't believe you pegged me as a masochist so quickly." He was shy and he was hesitant, but Ashton wasn't a complete prude. He wasn't a virgin--much as he regretted that decision--and so it wasn't like any mention of sex made him blush and run for cover. It was a little awkward talking about this kind of thing with Asha, but he tried his best to ignore that tidbit.
The next moment, however, Asha was glaring. Her intense stare made him wince, fully reminding the Earth student that he was sitting with a predatory bitch right now and that she had the likely capability to turn on him at any moment. "N-No, I just thought--" He ducked his head, spooked by her attitude. Recovering, the Earth boy swallowed and nodded a little. "Um, yeah, I guess you're right." She was incredibly fierce when she was upset, she didn't even have to yell and it was like she commanded full attention. Apparently she had broken her hand when she'd punched the boy, and that just further increased Ashton's guilty toward this whole situation. Damn it, he felt so bad! He opened his mouth to apologise again, but then Asha was threatening him and he closed it abruptly. After a moment of getting over how absolutely mortifying the idea of being tackled and pinned by her was. "Okay!" he said quickly, waving his hands a little in reassurance and then wincing when the movement jostled his pained shoulders. "It's your choice, Asha, I'm not going to force you. I didn't force you last time, either." And really, those burns would scar. A broken hand wouldn't really scar, it'd just hurt like a bitch. So what could be judged as the worst injury...?

asha woods was casually joking with ashton raleigh in one of the more dank dungeon cells while his shoulders were burned and her hand was broken. to recap she had gotten word of ashton being attacked and had raced down to the dungeon to play the part of hero. a half naked asha had confronted three fire buffoons that had the pretense they would be able to inflict any more pain on ashton and asha had made it clear that no such thing was happening. now they were throwing light jaunts at each other, both of them were enjoying the pointless remarks that made them laugh. ashton gave a wink to her after making a joke about her being his savior and for a moment asha was completely baffled. he was more good humored then asha would have ever assumed. asha needed to reconsider how quickly she formed assumptions, ashton was showing her that. her capable hand rested onto her chin, the universal sign that she was giving deep thought to the decision she was about to execute. "i would prefer if you shied away from calling me o savior. it makes me feel like you're talking to jesus or something," asha informed him, her face turning sour before she gave a little laugh. she was doing her part to play along with this all which came to as great surprise to her. dealing with any other earth elemental this surely wouldn't have been how asha would have reacted, something along the lines of continuing to lounge in the common room would have happened. he made the cheesy comment about gingers and asha let out a genuine laugh, noting that it felt nice to have a sincere laugh being pulled from her. what was ashton doing to her? she pulled on some of her own hair and looked at it with a deep stare. "maybe i did a nice dye job on your hair? you'll never know," asha cryptically said, pinning ashton down with an unreadable stare before her lips cracked into a wide smile.
out of all of the guys that asha was acquainted with she believed that there wasn't a single one who would become as flustered as ashton had just become. spotting the blush on his face and watching him duck his head head to try and disguise the blush was something that asha thought was adorable. oh wait, stop the bus for just a moment and focus on the fact that asha just pulled the word adorable into her vocabulary. she liked the words charming, sexy, gorgeous, and handsome. adorable was nowhere nestled in any of those words, yet asha was swept up in taking in the scene of ashton blushing furiously because of a few words she had said. he confessed to his blushing and asha bit on the back of her lip to keep from bursting out into laughter. with his head still ducked asha felt like she would be allowed to drop into a comment that had never left her mouth before and most likely astound ashton. "i'm not sure how coherent i am at the moment but i just felt the need to say that you're positively adorable when you're face could be now considered a tomato," asha nearly muttered, her words didn't slur together but they had left her mouth quickly. how much more redder would that compliment make his face go? holy hell, she had just complimented ashton. "we should see if you could ever find a way to make me blush..." asha absently said. asha was smug when ashton gave out the compliment and she allowed her capable hand to trail down her stomach for a moment. she was proud of her body, there was no reason not to be. asha trained year round to insist that her body was kept toned and she was aware that her face was far from hideous. to have this compliment coming from ashton however made it feel more...real and something she could believe. "i'm not going to give up on guys any time soon, so i'll keep turning them on in my half naked state," she replied to him with a wink.
to be talking about something of the sexual sorts with ashton was something that actually didn't bother her at all. then again it was asha woods that were talking about, there weren't very many things that left her feeling uncomfortable or uneasy. sex was something that she would have an completely open conversation on. she had no shame in her sexual interactions and if asked she would answer honestly and wholly about any questions that someone would press onto her. ashton's eyes rolled and he made the comment, in response asha simply stared at him for a moment in complete silence. she leaned forward and then pressed her finger gently into one of his cheeks and burst out into a little fit of laughter. "you're not a virgin, are you?"" asha mused, a wide smile bursting onto her face as she continued to peer over at him. another thing asha would have never thought about ashton, he wasn't a virgin. she quickly picked up on that, he was shy and hesitant but that didn't mean a damn thing. "the quiet ones are usually the ones that are the freaks in the sheets," asha said to him with a solemn nod, once again biting at her lip to keep from dissolving into a fit of laughter.
she had no intentions of somehow trying to scare ashton with her glares and the temperamental personality that she usually fell back on. her temper could usually frighten even the most menacing person into doing anything that she wanted. asha would choose a few words and pair them with a glare and everything would be good to go for her. she frowned when he ducked his head and seemed legitimately frightened by the tone and stare that she had aimed at him. "you need to man up a little bit, ashton," asha remarked, staring over at him with a snort. she didn't want to bite at him or cause him to squirm but she couldn't pull herself right out of who she was. having him duck his head at her when all she had done was glare was something that wold fuel her temper even more. instead of erupting like should have been expected asha let out a groan and then turned her attention back to the fearful ashton. he moved and she instantly spotted the way he winced when he raised his arms, concern bloomed throughout her again and her temper was immediately drained. asha reached out and gripped her hand securely onto one of his arms. "you're only causing yourself more pain with the way that you keep moving around," asha softly scolded him, looking at him with a gentle stare. "stop and just sit."

"Jesus?" Ashton laughed a little. "Geez, Asha. I was just getting over the knight thing and now you've got yourself with a beard!" He made a face at the idea, deciding that attractive as Asha was and everything, a beard would just ruin that. It made him feel somewhat awkward to acknowledge the fact that she was hot enough as a girl and didn't need to be converted into being male, and even more awkward to realise that the thought bothered him. Why did it bother him? His mind jumped to the other girls in his class and he didn't really care if they were around or not, but it legitimately made him feel weird to just imagine Asha as someone else. Then stop thinking about it, he suggested dryly to himself, trying to focus on the rest of their conversation. It was oh-so-very hard to do so, but he managed. "Your hair looks natural," Ashton commented, almost sticking out his tongue but deciding against it. He was still very clearly joking as he grinned a bit however. He wondered how someone else would walk by if they walked past the dungeon cell right then. It probably would have looked like the half-naked Asha was the assailant, actually, if not for the fact that they were both laughing and joking around like they were the best of friends. Why? Why were they doing this? He still couldn't wrap his mind around the fact that he considered her to be a good person and a presence which he could actually stand to be around. Jesus, Ashton, this is the girl that nearly burned you to a crisp on several occasions! But though his conscience tried to reason with him, the boy simply could not be reasoned with. He had chosen to change his mind about her and that was that. Mind made up.
Then she called him adorable, and all other thoughts in his mind had gone blank. Alright, so maybe Ashton wasn't the most impressive judger of character, and maybe he could get some of his first assumptions wrong about people, but it was seriously something to consider when the bitchy Fire student Asha Woods called you adorable. He hadn't even been aware she knew the meaning of the words. Things like cute, cuddy, fluffy, and adorable... they didn't seem like words that Ashton would ever catch her using. Especially not when they were referring to him in all of his tomato-faced, blushing glory. He was perhaps too shocked to blush, and he didn't say anything for several moments before he realised that a response was probably the natural reaction to these things. "You sound pretty coherent to me," he said, and thank goodness he didn't have the capability to flush even more. It was embarrassing that his face was so red because he didn't want to seem too hesitant or shy, even though those words were practically the stock phrases that could be used to describe him. He was just an awkward person and awkward people blushed a lot. He was also very shy and very hesitant and damn it, why did her compliment matter so much to him? Why was he even believing it? For all Ashton knew she could just be spouting random compliments just so that she could see him light up like the New York skyline. She wondered aloud if Ashton could ever make her blush, to which he actually managed a laugh. "I doubt it," he admitted. "You, Asha Woods, are shameless. I don't even think a slew of sexual remarks would get you to turn the slightest shade of pink." And yet here was Ashton as red as a cherry. Why was a girl more masculine than him? Why?
He gave a bit of a snort when she brought her sexuality into play. "I still don't understand why people think you play for the other team." Alright, so maybe he wasn't a Fire student and hadn't witnessed her banter with Shea in the Fire dormitories. But he had seen her half-naked form and her long hair and it just seemed like she might as well be wearing a billboard proclaiming how completely and totally straight she was. It was ridiculous just how confident he was about her sexuality, and he wondered if Asha thought that he was gay. In truth, Ashton wasn't even bi-curious. He'd never found himself attracted to guys and so it always sort of irked him when people insisted that he was gay. Asha dragged him right out of these thoughts by doubting his virginity, and he was too surprised to blush as he blinked at her. How the hell had she known that? He'd been made fun of for 'being a virgin' about as often as the gay jokes had come about. He thought about lying and saying that he was just so that it wouldn't turn this awkward situation even more so, but he decided to just tell the truth. "No," he said, "No, I'm not." He didn't go into detail because Ashton didn't figure that she wanted to know. He'd been fifteen and with his first of several failed girlfriends, and the next thing he knew she was all over him and he'd hardly had the time to protest. Such an awkward loss of the v-card, so he hardly ever shared. It wasn't the last time he'd been intimate with someone but he usually wasn't the one that initiated things. Girls apparently thought that they'd get more out of his sweet and caring personality if they went to bed with him, but they were wrong. He'd give you his all even without the intimacy. He laughed a little at her comment, not really sure of how to respond that. Freak? He didn't really think he was too strange when it came to those things.
Being told that he needed to man up by a girl was not the most flattering experience. It wasn't like he went around gushing about gardens and perfumes and wearing make-up, he wasn't losing touch with his masculinity or anything. He was sure there were plenty of Water students who were terrified of the Thunder elements and--damn it, he was doing it again! Her opinion was mattering more than it should have. He just shrugged in response, really not sure what else he could do at this point. He didn't want to admit that he might not be as masculine as she would have preferred even if he knew it was true, but it wasn't like he could deny her words. She could probably--no, she could definitely best him in a fight. With powers it was a give-in, but even if the two of them got into a physical scrap he was positive that Asha would win. And that wasn't the easiest thing to admit. Ashton was relieved, therefore, when the conversation switched to the subject of injuries. The pain blocked out his negative thoughts and he willingly sat back and closed his eyes for a moment as he waited for it to fade. "Fuck," he breathed, not even bothering to censor his vocabulary at the moment. "I think you're right. Sitting sounds good right now."

asha had an image in her mind of a collaboration of all of the persona's they had just slapped onto her. her nose scrunched up in distaste as she pictured a walking stick in her hand and a bushy beard on her face on top of her chain mail and feathered helmet. the imagination of asha woods wasn't exactly vivid or creative, art wasn't a subject she enjoyed and writing was something she would leave to the people with actual skills. this picture came to clearly to her though as ashton laughed along with her. "now i've got a beard, carry a walking stick, and wear dirty sandals. my image has taken a turn for the worst," asha replied, her tone attesting to the dislike that her words spoke. a beard couldn't mar her beautiful face. facial hair would never be spotted on her face as long as she still scared about her appearance. vanity wouldn't leave her any time soon. asha tugged on her hair and gave an appreciative nod towards ashton. "i know you're kidding but thank you, wuss. my hair is a la natural," she informed him, bobbing her head a little.
for a moment it really seemed like ashton was astounded that she had dished out a compliment towards him. well, it wasn't like asha went around picking out all of the things she found appealing in everyone. wait, stop the bus. appealing? her mind had just attached the term appealing with ashton, the injured earth leader who she had just saved. that was baffling. what kind of thought was her mind trying to form? asha would never know the answer, her thoughts came to halt because she wouldn't allow them to evolve any further. there was silence from ashton which left asha to assume that the wrong words had slipped from her mouth. instead of training her eyes onto him she dropped her stare and made out shapes on the grimy dungeon floor. finally a response came from him and in reply she let out a snort. "for all you know i could be doped up out of mind on drugs. druggie, is that something i could pass for?" asha was simply wondering out loud again, nothing could restrain her thoughts. glancing over at him a smug smile tugged onto her face when he gave her what she supposed was a compliment. shame was something that she knew nothing of. "damn straight, ashton. it's always going to stay that way too." cocky, was that something else that could be used to describe asha? never.
every once in a while a comment would be thrown to asha that regarded her sexuality. the way that she acted with shea was definitely questionable at times. not many other pairs roamed through the halls tangled in each other or made open remarks about their snuggle sessions. yes, they had snuggle sessions. to have someone think that asha was interested in girls on provided a good and hearty laugh for asha. ashton honestly said that he couldn't see why anyone assumed that she was a lesbian, to which she responded to with a look that said "i know, right?" she then gave a shrug of her shoulders and answered by saying, "i guess how i am with shea can be iffy at times. i would never fuck her though. that would be traumatizing." she shuddered at the thought of having sexual interaction with shea. returning to the own topic of his sex life asha felt her curiosity pricking up. hell, why did she have any reason to care about whether he still had his virginity in tact or not? none really, she was still wondering though. leaning over she prodded at his cheek and gave him a stare that was unreadable. "you've slept with girls before, huh. are you a good fuck?" the words flowed from her mouth easily. asha felt no awkwardness but she could practically imagine ashton squirming as she stuttered out an answer.
there wasn't an from ashton after she had advised from him to man up. it had been a joke nestled among seriousness, had he not taken it the way she had intended? then again, it could have been a stab at his dignity having asha tell him that he should pump up his manliness. giving a weak shrug of her shoulders she let her eyes follow him as he leaned back. the pain was etched into the lines of her face, asha's eyebrows creased with furrow as she stared at him harder when his eyes closed. "are you going to be able to get up? the pain must be blazing through your whole body," asha remarked, her thoughts tracking back to having her arms and chest seared by ace. her fingers absently traced down the scarring skin of her arm and she frowned. "i only be able to help you so much, my other hand is sort of out of service."

Ashton grinned good-naturedly. It wasn't that he was enjoying the mental picture of Asha with a beard and dirty sandals--his next comment revealed the source of his amusement. "At least you can beat someone with a cane," he pointed out. He was joking of course, not taking into account that he was talking to a Fire student here and that for all he knew she might just be taking him seriously. "My gran can attest to that," he remarked, a smile playing on his lips as he thought of the feisty old woman. She was short and wrinkly but you did not want to be on her bad side, that was for sure. "My mom upset her once and she went on a rampage." It was his father's mother who had the elemental genetics. She was the only one in their immediate family that did besides Ashton. They were close and all thanks to the fact that they could relate, but there was still some shred of fear in Ashton. He hadn't really been scared of him until she'd demonstrated what she could do by locking him into the bathroom and starting to slowly flood it. "Apologise to your brother, boy, or I'll bring this water up over your head." A drenched and shaking Ashton had been quite the sight to behold as he stammered out an apology to Cameron.
The Earth student cocked an eyebrow at Asha as she mentioned drugs, then shook his head. "Nah," he decided after a moment of scrutinizing her. "Drugs have an affect on the appearance after a while. You're too... there... to be a druggie. No offence if that's the look you were going for." The last part was thrown in as a bit of a joke, for Ashton knew she probably wasn't too eager to be mistaken for some doped-up, strung-out weirdo. He wondered for a moment if Asha had ever experimented with drugs, and on a whim decided to ask, "... but have you ever...?" Ashton had admittedly tried, once. Cigarettes made him cough even being around them, so he didn't want to chance it. But he'd taken a drag of a joint and found that being high was one of the scariest things he'd ever experienced. He'd felt like he was losing control of his rational thought process and emotions, and from then on that'd been it for him. Alcohol had just tasted bad and he was strange when he was drunk. He'd drink at parties, but it wasn't his favourite past-time by any means.
When Asha mentioned that she'd never fuck Shea, Ashton furrowed his brow slightly at the thought. "Uh, yeah. Some guys might be into that, but just..." He shook his head, deciding that he much preferred the mental image of Asha being straight compared to the one of her having sex with her best friend. He knew that some people would very likely poke fun at their apparently 'lesbian' relationship simply because of the fact that they were trolls and they wanted to get on the nerves of the two temperamental Fire girls. He didn't really understand the people who constantly went around antagonising the irritable element. Specifically the Water students. He liked them because they were his allies and all, but Ashton had to admit that they'd really gotten out of hand at times. Their pranks could go from harmless to dangerous in moments. He'd been on the receiving end of a few that had landed him in the medical wing. Mind you, most of the time a Water elemental would apologise if the cruel pranks meant for their enemies pegged their allies. "It's the fact that people get hurt that matters," he'd point out, "it doesn't matter who you're hurting, it still isn't right."
He blushed again when she asked him if he was a 'good fuck'. Alright, so you could talk sexual matters with Ashton to an extent and he'd barely bat an eyelash, but when Asha questioned him about his sex life? He felt like he was being scrutinized under a microscope, and that was just awkward. "Um, I haven't had complaints...?" It was true, none of the girls had really poked fun at him--at least not right after. It was usually when they wanted to elicit an angry response that they'd resort to teasing or outright mockery, at which time Ashton believe that they were just fishing at straws. It was possibly more of a relief than an agony when attention was focused away from his virginity--or lack thereof--but even Ashton was too proud to ask for her help in standing. "I can get up," he insisted, pushing the pain away as he forced himself to stand. He was shaky and a bit dizzy from exhaustion, but he was standing on his own. After a moment, he moved away from the wall and nodded a little. "I'm okay. It's my shoulders that hurt, not my legs." You didn't need your shoulders to walk. Just don't ask him to climb anything...
