CELEBRITY CLAIM Andrew Vanwyngarden
EYE COLOUR Green.
HAIR COLOUR Dirty blond.
HEIGHT & WEIGHT 5’ 9”, 135 Ibs.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES There is nothing outstanding about his appearance. He's decently pale, and has luminescent green eyes that Beatrice claims are to mark him as someone more susceptible to the evil eye and that he should wear talismans accordingly.
CLOTHING STYLE Casual. Samson doesn’t put much thought into what he picks out from his closet every day, it’s usually just jeans and a hoodie and the occasional headband. Beatrice enjoys dressing him in capes and masks, however he would never go out into public like that. Though he still wears talismans and charms sometimes, especially since Beatrice is suspicious about his eyes. In any case, his clothes always need to have pockets for his notebook.

POSITIVE TRAITS
- If he likes you, he is very kind and sympathetic. He’s someone you want on your side during a rough time.
- Intuitive. He knows to do things without being told and he is very efficient at it. Which is why Beatrice uses him to clean around the shop.
- Funny. Despite his initial dark appearance, he is actually a humorous guy. Of course, this humor shines through in facial expressions and random acts that he is prone to.
NEGATIVE TRAITS
- He can be a jerk. If he doesn’t like you or just doesn’t feel like writing stuff down to communicate, he’ll use strange hand gesticulations just to screw with you. Especially if you pity him. To add to that, he’ll purposely be unresponsive to someone if they approach him because he feels like it.
- Unapproachable. He’s not friendly. It takes effort all around for people to become friends with him, so he likes to save himself and other people the trouble.
- Aloof. He gives off the image of just not caring about anything.
LIKES
- The ocean and the sound of waves
- The occult
- Little knick knacks and souvenirs.
- Pizza
- His friends
- Antique furniture
- Poetry
DISLIKES
- Drama
- Arrogance
- Being pitied
- Whiners
- Beatrice’s cooking
- Being away from the ocean
STRENGTHS
- He’s intelligent, both book-wise and street-wise. His intuitiveness also plays into this, since he’s very quick on his feet.
- Organized and focused.
- He is laidback and easygoing. Nothing really gets to him, so he doesn’t fight with others often.
WEAKNESSES
- Even though he won’t admit it, being mute is a weakness for him. It makes it very hard to communicate with people, and he refuses to learn sign language because he’s not deaf.
- He’s not good at physical fights. He’s lanky and lacks major muscle tone, so he never goes fisticuffs. Therefore if there’s ever a confrontation, he prefers to zap.
- In a relationship, he tends to give his heart over completely. He can’t help it. Too bad a lot of the girls in his past were bitches in sheep’s clothing.
FEARS
- Having his heart broken...again.
- Something happening to Beatrice.
- Somehow losing his powers.
BEST MEMORY When Beatrice took him back to Newfoundland and he drew in electricity from the storm--the first manifestation of his powers.
WORST MEMORY His parents' deaths, of course. Or to be more exact, the actual fire.
LONG-TERM GOAL Samson actually has many. To find his one true love, buy a house next to the sea, and carry on his father's legacy.

HISTORYSamson’s memories are a bit fuzzy. But he remembers a few things. For one, his parents. They were kind and loving, as he remembered. Your standard WASPs with a white-picket fence and a seaside home on the coast of Newfoundland. That’s probably what he remembers most. The sea. His mother taught him to swim and fish, showed him tricks using her Water element, and his father put displays on of his Thunder powers. Sam loved it when there was a storm, loved watching his father draw out the lightning from clouds and making designs with them. He truly hoped to become like him one day. When he does think of these times, they bring on nostalgia. Still, he wouldn’t be able to recall their faces if not for Beatrice’s photo albums.
Then, when he was nine, the happiness and the good days ended. He didn’t know what started the fire, actually. It was one of those random occurrences, it was simply fate. His parents died in the fire, put he was rescued in time and brought to the hospital unconscious. His lungs almost collapsed and all that damage to his esophagus and vocal cords caused permanent damage. When Sam found out he’d never be able to speak again, he accepted it. The worst part was about his parents, after all. Then entered Beatrice, in all her red-haired, eccentric glory. She introduced herself as a family friend, said that she was going to adopt him because “You are just the cutest little thing!” Of course, he didn’t know what to expect from this woman who just waltzed into his hospital room in a cape to give him one of those large, colorful lollipops.
Beatrice took him under her wing, and he moved with her to British Columbia, to her world of charms and trinkets and the occult. She owned an occult shop called “Dante’s Dark Arts”. Then she forced him to read The Divine Comedy so he would understand. Sam found he enjoyed this woman’s world of superstitions and hexes. Sure, he missed the ocean, but he took his mind off such things with helping Beatrice around the shop and learning more about the occult. She paid him, too, so he was able to buy his favorite things: antique furniture and souvenirs. During the summer, Beatrice would take him to the beach and tell him stories about his parents and how she knew them. They were alumni of the Academy. She was a Water student, as was his mother, Sophia. Beatrice met his father, Bejamin, in the library and they shared an interest discussion about magic, him playing the loveable skeptic. And Beatrice thought the two were perfect for each other and hooked them up.
With this information, Samson grew to love and respect his parents even more, even though he still felt that ache in remembering that they can’t tell him more stories about their past. But he had Beatrice, who he knew loved him more than anything. One such summer Beatrice actually took him to Newfoundland again for the first time in years, and she said they would rent a house by the sea and stay there for three months. He was thirteen and there was an incoming storm, so he went out to watch, remembering the days with his father. Then, as lightning branched down to touch the sea, he put out his finger and was able to conduct the electricity into his finger tip, causing a little spark. Beatrice was then next to him, congratulating him. She’d planned for this to happen, took him to the beach for the summer in hopes that his power would crop up.
And when he turned fourteen next summer, he entered the Academy, determined to be the best damn Thunder elemental there ever was, just like his father who he now admired through his and Beatrice’s memories. Just like in regular school, he had some trouble fitting in. Thunder wasn’t the most friendliest groups, so he took a liking to the Water students. People of course were curious about why he didn’t speak, and he would write down ‘smoking’s a bitch’. And, he started getting into more serious relationships with all the wrong gals. Over and over, Sam was toyed with because he was so easily manipulated in a relationship. Beatrice did well to cheer him up in her own way whenever this happened, and she was still his pillar. Now, he is still helping her out around her shop and attending the Academy as a junior.
