CLOTHING STYLE Sandra dresses in whatever is comfortable for her. She (probably correctly) considers herself too lazy for most fashion, and so most of the time she's found in cotton and the like, probably t-shirts. She'll occasionally wear dresses when she feels the need to dress up, but this is extremely rare. Some days, perhaps once a week (more or less frequently depending on her mood), she just rolls out of bed and proceeds to go about her business wearing pyjamas. The Academy on the whole is used to seeing her wandering around with sleepy eyes, pyjamas, and her teddy bear.

POSITIVE TRAITS
- FRIENDLY Sandra genuinely likes most people. She can be a little bit of a brat about certain people, particularly the rather nasty Thunders and Fires, but on the whole she likes people and is willing to strike up a conversation with most anyone. She likes to keep friends too, rather than just making many acquaintances whom she doesn't know well -- Sandra enjoys the company of her good friends above all else.
- FUN-LOVING Though she's actually pretty decent at keeping it under control, Sandra enjoys having a good time and a good laugh. She isn't one to hesitate in throwing away her worries for the moment and relishing in the moment, though her idea of fun is less along the lines of drinking and partying, and more along the lines of amusement parks or sleepovers.
- OPTIMISTIC Sandra has a penchant for finding the positive light of most any situations, and doesn't like to dwell on the negatives a terrible amount. It isn't a conscious decision, either, but rather something that she does out of instinct, finding the upside to many a situation. Among her friends, she tends to have the effect of making the situation more positive, too, which can be helpful for those who are feeling down. She's genuinely enamoured with life.
NEGATIVE TRAITS
- LAZY Not only is Sandra simply lazy, but she's a procrastinator who seems to believe that there is always an extra day, hour, or minute for doing something that she should have done last week. Aside from just that, though, it also prevents her from doing things that others would do for fun -- during certain events that she'd otherwise attend without hesitation, she's been known to be too lazy to get out of bed and get dressed to go. She habitually falls asleep anywhere and everywhere without meaning to (especially during class, a habit that is not discouraged by the fact that she weras pyjamas everywhere), and needs constant distraction to keep herself from doing so.
- NAIVE Sandra tends to believe in the best in everyone, and this can get her into trouble because there are times when people really don't have good intentions. She's willing to drop what she's doing if a friend needs anything at all, and doesn't use enough discretion (or isn't able to, more likely) to tell when someone is just taking advantage of the fact that she'll do whatever they ask, with few limitations.
- CARELESS There is a difference between carefreeness and carelessness, and Sandra occasionally puts a toe, or her whole body, over that line. She sort of does whatever she feels like doing at the time, and these things rarely involve homework or anything that requires effort. She doesn't pay much attention to the things going on around her, either, which can lead to some issues with the people around her who expect her to focus.

BEST MEMORY Every summer from the ages of eleven to thirteen, Sandra attended a summer camp. For various reasons involving thirteen-year-old crushes and pulling her first all-nighter, the very last summer sticks out in her mind, but all of them had various "best memories" within them.
WORST MEMORY Sandra was bullied throughout a large chunk of fourth grade, generally for being too short, too smart (in the sense that she got better grades than the rest of them while doing little work), and a little bit annoying in her general happy-go-lucky personality. It was a time when kids were only just discovering who they were, and naturally there was plenty of bullying going on. She got past it obviously, and in fact by the next year it had all settled down and she went back to school as usual and made friends all over again, but all of that said, it was a pretty awful year or so for Sandra. She can't tolerate bullies to this day although she is no longer bothered when she's picked on herself.
LONG-TERM GOAL Sandra has absolutely no definite goals, and prefers to live life in the moment and enjoy it while she's young, rather than planning it all out. She does know that she's probably intelligent enough to do a good number of things, and the only trick now is finding out what exactly she wants to do. One thing that she does want to work towards is publishing a fiction novel, but again, even that isn't concrete.

MOTHER Kagura Chang (43), Accountant.
FATHER Patrick Donghai Chang (45), Restaurant chef.
SIBLINGS Alexander Chang (18), Student.
OTHER Hisao Takahashi (grandfather) and Midori Takahashi (grandmother), both of whom live with Sandra's family.
HISTORY Kagura Takahashi came to Canada, from Japan, at the age of sixteen. She had been aware of her element, water, for quite some time, and had done some studying where she'd lived before this, but she decided to start over from ninth grade at the Academy owing to the fact that she would also have to learn an entirely new language at the same time. She persevered, however, and managed to graduate with fairly decent credentials, although she returned to Vancouver to study in college and begin to pursue her career in accounting. It wasn't for several years that she would meet Patrick, her future husband.
Patrick was quite unlike his friend turned girlfriend turned wife, having come to Canada from China at the young age of six with his entire family. It was a minor difference, however -- both found similarities in their histories and present familial situations, and it didn't take long for them to become friends and then a couple. Patrick, when he was told, was more than a little surprised to hear of his girlfriend's powers with water, but it was not something that destroyed their relationship. Patrick was quite open to the idea, although was deeply shocked as well, and after all, Kagura was seeking a career as an accountant, and did not particularly like much or use her powers with the element often. Things were normal. Once they were married they had a son, Alexander, and then shortly after a daughter, Sandra. Both children grew up fairly normally as well, with Patrick understanding that his wife's abilities were genetic and likely to be passed onto their two children. There were few problems for any of them.
Alexander and Sandra attended school as any normal children would, Sandra herself two grades behind her brother as was normal considering the difference in their ages. She was a happy, bright child, much as she is like a teenager now, always eager to do something and, in fact, willing to learn (although this did not by any means entitle her to want to do work to achieve said learning). In fourth grade, things took a turn for the worse when she found herself the target of a number of bullies who were starting to become rather relentless in their taunting. Things never got physical, and it was not the sort of thing that would later leave the sorts of deep scars that will be diagnosed in teens and even adults later in life. However, it was by far the worst period of Sandra's life, and she harbours still today a deep loathing for anyone who dares bully other people, though she does consider herself to have a stronger will because of it.
The rest of her school years passed by without much incident -- eventually the bullying stopped, and she made friends easily. When she was eleven and her brother thirteen, he discovered his own element and was quickly sent off to the Academy the following January. It was not the first time the children had heard of their mother's powers (and their own), but it made things vividly more real. Sandra was excited and nervous all at once for it, but her element too made itself known when she was thirteen -- water, unsurprising as she had by now learnt that this was her mother's element. At fourteen, she too left for the Academy to join Alexander, and since then she has gone back and forth from staying at school and going home to Vancouver, where her parents and grandparents still live, over breaks.
