CLOTHING STYLE Skye doesn't tend to be very flashy, regarding her clothing or otherwise. She rarely goes "overboard" in her clothing, but can be seen (perhaps more frequently than necessary) in dresses and skirts and the like. Other days, she enjoys her cardigans and boots and bulky belts, and on very lazy days, anything comfortable is good enough for her -- jeans and a t-shirt will do. Generally, colours are fairly dull and understated, but everything will depend on her mood on any given day.

POSITIVE TRAITS
- COLLECTED Faced with an issue, Skye generally won't lose her temper and go completely berserk immediately. Of course, no one need know that inside that level head is a massive build-up of rage when faced with such things, and Skye is perfectly alright with this. None of this prevents her from being all kinds of judgmental, but Skye may differ in that she'll tell someone straight to his or her face that she'd like them to "please go away, now".
- POLITE Though it may not be that Skye is actually kind, or nice, she tries to treat everyone with the same level of decency. Like anyone else, there are those she genuinely does not like at all, but she doesn't resort to any unnecessary action. Everyone deserves some small bit of fairness, at least.
- HONEST More than simply often, or always, telling the truth, Skye has a very honest self. She makes little pretense about who she is and expects the same of everyone else, though she realizes that she's only setting herself up for disappointment in this way. Even so, she's genuine and she, at least, knows that she isn't even really a bad person, a few bumps along the way aside.
NEGATIVE TRAITS
- JUDGMENTAL They say it takes a person seven seconds or so to judge someone else, and this much is embodied in Skye -- and it's rarely good for whoever it is she's meeting or noticing for the first time. Holding herself to any standard means that people are rarely matches to what she expects from everyone, and this makes for a bit of negativity.
- ALOOF Aside from moments when she's around those close to her, Skye is detached from the world. Though it's also evident that she's focused and tuned-in to the things going on around her, she seems to take objective views on most things. Because she actually uses her brain, of course, she tends to have opinions on the things going on, but it'd probably be hard to guess so. That said, once her mind is made up, it's difficult to change.
- VINDICTIVE Though she doesn't often resort to violence for her own petty annoyances, revenge is one thing Skye knows how to execute well. It's unusual for her to forget a time someone has wronged her, but very common for the other person to have forgotten by the time she gets around to getting back at them.

BEST MEMORY The year before Skye entered the Academy, she and her family spent a summer traveling the world -- or as much of it as they could visit in a summer, anyway.
WORST MEMORY Basically the entirety of Grade 12 was hell for her -- by far the worst year, and perhaps made worse by the fact that there were no semesters to divide up the stress. Worse was the fact that it wasn't really optional, unlike her college years at the Academy.
LONG-TERM GOAL Hilariously enough, Skye's long term goal at this point is to just do something with her life. She's at a strange spot, really -- she's graduated from high school and college at the Academy, and she's managed to do what she was trying to avoid for the past eight years: return once more, this time to work. Really, however, she's at a spot in her life when she doesn't exactly know what she wants to do but knows that she needs and wants to do something important. Unfortunately, "something important" is not always easy to do.

HISTORY Brittany Cook, a water elemental, and Matthew Ford, earth, for some reason or another, didn't really associate with one another when they were both in the same year at the Academy, both instead sticking to respective groups of friends. Both did, however, live in Maple Hollow, and although both took off from Maple Hollow after graduation, prepared to perhaps go study away from other elementals, they also both came back for visits whenever possible. It was during one of these times that they met, and in the summer before both their Junior years of university far away from Maple Hollow, they struck up some kind of a romance. Perhaps it was the only reason they both came trailing back to the town afterward, but either way, some time later, they were married. It wasn't a very big affair, but then, neither of them had ever been big on theatrics.
They moved away from Maple Hollow then, deciding they'd instead live in Ontario, where Brittany had been planning to go to become a teacher. Skye was born some years after, attending her regular school where they lived in Ottawa, a good student but otherwise, for a few years, quite unremarkable as far as anyone who knew about elements was concerned. She knew about her parents' powers early enough on, but they were in for a surprise when her own element was discovered, at the age of thirteen, to be thunder -- which came seemingly out of nowhere, except for the fact that Matthew's mother had been a thunder elemental as well. (The static, naturally, was a dead giveaway.) The mystery was solved, then, and that was the end of that. She sort of looked forward coming to the Academy, not minding regular school much but hoping for something more.
So it was that she struggled, at first, when she arrived and was thrown into the full-blown studies of the elements. Though she did well enough in other things -- earning praise in what many would consider useless things, when at an academy studying the control of elements, for goodness' sake -- it seemed somehow quite a good deal harder for her than for others in picking up the element, but a bit (or a lot) of work and perseverance got her through, and she began to fare well enough with it. Some aspects of school were better than others. Classes became routine after a while, even the elemental classes, though those were considerably more difficult than she would have expected each and every year. Never one to give up that easily, she suffered through, even through twelfth grade -- by far the most awful academic year of her life -- and managed to graduate with fairly good marks, actually.
By twelfth grade, she had already realized that she was more than a little bit completely fed up with the alliances at the school, however, a fact to which a large contributing factor was her own knowledge of her parents' elements. Had they been at school with her, they would have been forceful enemies, she'd long realized -- and the same went for the siblings that she didn't have, but could have had. This in mind, it was a weighty decision to return to the Academy for college, but in the end she decided that actually mastering her element (and doing it efficiently, as well, under the guidance of teachers) was important enough that she could put aside her feelings about... well, at that point, most of the student body. As a person who was already somewhat negative, however, her bitterness would be strengthened and hardened over time by the general atmosphere that she found around the school. It was many things that she enjoyed, but it was also tense and rather cutthroat -- which, when she thought about it, was not an easy experience for anybody, so far as she believed at least. Personal experiences and conflicts along the way showed her this often enough that she was actually quite relieved to leave, though part of her had enjoyed aspects of those eight years very much as well.
Fortunately for Skye, she never truly regretted the decision to stay at the Academy for college instead of going home to Ottawa, because it led to a number of good things in her life... and a good deal of bad ones, but that was always life in general. At the beginning of Senior year she managed to secure a job working for Maple Hollow's Member of Parliament, with a bit of help from one of her best friends -- said MP's son, incidentally, which was just very lucky for her. It couldn't have been more connected to her Political Science major, actually, and she was fairly pleased with the job, especially when it gave her some pocket change and allowed her to start saving up money that she'd eventually need to use to start paying back her college funds. Rather unexpectedly, however, graduation came all too soon, and Skye was tossed back out of school. She was glad to be gone but rather unprepared to be a functioning member of society (that is, not a student) and it took her a while to figure out exactly what she wanted and needed.
She found an apartment before graduating, however, and had already signed the lease for it before visiting her parents back in Ottawa. A few weeks later, Skye was back with all of her things, this time in the Hollow rather permanently. She moved into her sort of tiny apartment and, mostly, now complains about the annoying couple that lives next door to her. It turned out that her job, however, while good for keeping her well taken care of during school, wasn't really enough to do everything she needed to, and it was with a bit of pain that she actually turned to an option that almost threw itself into her lap just a few months after her graduation: a part-time job at the Academy. It was highly irritating to have to walk back into the place, actually, after spending years there for school already, but luckily she doesn't mind the job too much at all. It's keeping a roof over her head, at the very least, and she has yet to starve to death, so Skye is going to mark this one up as a success considering she does still have her other job at the constituency office. At the very least, she hasn't joined the hoards of twenty-two-year-olds with degrees and no jobs. Until such time as she establishes some kind of legitimate life goal, this is a very decent place for her to be.

RP SAMPLEShould she miss him, really, considering the nature of the fight they'd had? Skye tried to figure out the answer but it was much harder than she would have thought -- truthfully, she had no idea if she should miss him or not. There were so many variables in this whole thing, considering the reasonings behind the argument in the first place. She did know that she did miss Josh, whether she should or not -- it wasn't like Skye was the type to need constant attention (quite the opposite, truthfully) but it was, actually, sometimes lonely without someone she'd used to spend a lot of time with. Well, they had spent quite a bit of time by their own standards, anyway -- she wouldn't say either of them were social butterflies, however, so these standards might have been somewhat skewed. God, that was kind of pathetic. Skye had never liked to be ruled by emotions, but she let it happen sometimes. Most of the time, logic dictated her actions -- but Skye knew that this wasn't even a remotely logical thing to do, just walking up to him and asking to talk.
She just nodded when he agreed after the long pause -- she was sure it had been shorter than it'd felt, though. She was usually a patient person. This situation was not usual at all. Skye didn't say a word as she followed him back, didn't even really acknowledge his gesture except by following, keeping relative distance just in case. Luckily, the library was quiet, even quieter than usual. Nobody was around here either where he was seated, quite far away from her own. Her thoughts drifted to her laptop, which would be sitting there unattended. Hopefully nothing happened to it -- she could worry about it later, however. She tried to keep her mind on the moment but couldn't help thinking that, at least, if things got too uncomfortable, she could use her abandoned computer as an excuse to walk away. Still, she hoped that it wouldn't come to that; there were things she genuinely wanted to say, and that wouldn't work if she turned and left at the first turn for the worse.
Somehow, it seemed that she'd thought about this conversation before, if they were ever going to have it, and so she always knew how the conversation had to start. Even so, she held onto the words as she stood there, hesitating just for a fraction of a second before she pulled up a chair and sat as well. Her posture wasn't necessarily the most comfortable, and was in fact rather stiff -- pretending to be casual at this point was useless -- but it was less awkward than standing. Besides that, maybe they just needed to be on the same level for once in the past few months. Now seated, she turned to look at him, taking a silent but deep breath -- she didn't let it show in the rise and fall of her chest. She wasn't comfortable, but he didn't need to see all the nervous habits. Nobody ever did, actually. "That day in the park," she said finally, her voice steady and calm. "I know it may have seemed like it, but -- I wasn't actually trying to start a fight." It wasn't necessarily an apology, which she avoided for now, but hopefully it was a good enough start.
Things had never gotten better after the fight that had happened anyway, however, and thinking back, Skye knew that they had actually never seriously done anything like that in all the time they'd known each other. They couldn't have. If they had, it would have probably meant the end of their friendship, because they were both useless at, in the end, patching things up. Today was evidence of that. It was a thought that made her want to wince, but her expression didn't even shift. "But I know that everything's different now." That was true. Just from walking around the school minding her own business, she had noticed that Joshua and Nell had become closer, and wondered if they knew how dangerous that was, even if it was ridiculous. She'd always known that if they really wanted to do this, though, one of them would have to turn sides eventually -- and she'd also always known that it would have to be Josh. The Fires and Thunders would never allow the opposite -- and besides which, Skye thought, why would anyone want to join the Fires and Thunders anyway? "Did you switch again?" Even when he'd sort of returned to his side of the alliance, just sort of, they hadn't spoken. All she knew was hearsay. "For good?" It wasn't said accusingly. She hoped he didn't interpret it that way.teehee i changed it because i can.
