Remy leaned against the doorway of her daughter’s room, and watched her sleeping peacefully. Remy could never really understand why Kyler wouldn’t want to be apart of her life. She was so beautiful, and adorable. Wanting to start the day, and not be late for going to the park, Remy went to wake up Ripley. She sat down on the side of the bed, and gently shook the two year old. She whispered that she had breakfast on the table, and that the park was waiting for them. The two year old yawned sleepily, and rubbed her eyes. Remy picked her up, and brought her out the bustling kitchen. Roland was getting ready for work, and walking out the door when Remy emerged with Ripley on her hip. He leaned in to give Ripley a kiss on the head, and left. Remy set Ripley down at the table in her booster seat, and cut up the pancakes that Charlotte had made for them. Remy went back into Ripley’s room to pick out the little girl’s outfit for the day. Ripley was also picky about what she wanted to wear when going to the park. She never wanted to dirty her nice clothes, but still wanted to look pretty when she went out. She was a very complex two year old.
Ten minutes later the two year old stomped her way into the room with her arms crossed, and a pout on her face. “Mommy, we’re going to be late to the park!
” Remy looked at her daughter with a stern look, and said, “ Well, that’s just too bad.” Remy held out the little dress she had picked for Ripley, and the little girl’s face lit up. She ran over to Remy, and held up her arms so Remy could take off her night gown. Remy lifted it off, and put on the dress. Ripley twirled in it, and went to run out the door, and show Charlotte. “ Ripley, we have to put your shoes on first. Then mommy has to brush your hair,” Ripley’s little face scrunched up, and walked back slowly to Remy. She sat on the bed as Remy put on her socks and shoes. She went over the vanity that was in Ripley’s room, and grabbed the brush. Remy sat on the bed, and lifted Ripley into her lap, and brushed out all the tangles before braiding it into to two separate braids. With that, Ripley ran out to show off her outfit, like she did every day. Remy followed behind her quickly, attempting to keep up with her. When she walked into the kitchen Charlotte, Aurora, and Raven were all praising her outfit, and how cute she looked. Ripley got the best from Kyler and herself. She got Kyler’s dark brown hair, and Remy’s bright green eyes. She was pale, which made her eyes stand out, and her hair curled like Kyler’s did. Ripley was blessed her with Remy’s dimpled smile. “ Come on Ripley, we don’t want to be even more late for the park,” Remy said, holding out her hand for the two year old. Ripley grabbed her hand, and the two walked out of the little house. They walked to the park, it only taking ten minutes. Once the park was in sight, Ripley took off running towards it, and Remy jogged after her. When she had Ripley in her sight, Remy walked over to the swings, and watched Ripley play. A SONG OF PURE ROMANCE,
nell held the kite up between her hands, inspecting the damage that had been done to it. she had never flown kites much, but she loved it, watching the diamond of plastic get carried away by a strong wind. if there was a strong wind and she didn't have to run around with it. provided great exercise, at least. her smile was crooked. it had been a running day, but unfortunately she had an accident that reminded her of an episode of peanuts or another old cartoon. it had been comical, even as she climbed through the bushes to pull out the shredded toy. she'd gotten some dirt on her shorts and t-shirt, but it wasn't like she expected to come back from the park perfectly clean. she didn't wear nice clothes anywhere save for work. well, expensive clothes, at least. she always tried to look presentable.
she laid back on the merry-go-round in the park's playground, her hair out of its bun and splayed out around her shoulders as she held it up to the sun, squinting as it assaulted her eyes. maybe she should just not fly kites anymore. or do anything that normal people could do. yeah, right. like she'd ever think that pessimistically. her mind was always in the best place, coming up with the scenarios that would always work out for her in the end. it kept her from going under, and she believed that more people should do it. being jaded meant being blind to the beauty of the world, and she was determined not to let that happen. so she'd keep flying her kites. all she would need was to buy a new one. they were pretty cheap...anywhere you could buy toys, and she was glad that they hadn't died out in opt for the more electronic games kids played now.
if it was real, i could sew it... she was in the midst of this thought as she heard a familiar child's voice, a smile spreading on her face as she sat up, nearly whacking her head off a bar of the merry-go-round. "rip!" she chirped, laughing as she saw the girl. "your dress looks pretty!" she stood up, brushing herself off as she went over to the mother of the lovely little girl on the swings, and hip-bumped remy. "hey hey hey, lovely day in the park isn't it?" temperate whether, everything was nice and cool. she loved spring, it brought out the best in canada. she held up the kite. "unfortunately, i had a little accident earlier. whoops." leave it to her to ruin a kite. nell never claimed to be perfect. she went over to sit on a swing. "how are you doing, honey?" she questioned playfully.

Remy couldn’t help but laugh as Ripley ran through the streets to the park. Though it winded Remy like no tomorrow, she was glad that Ripley could get excited over something so simple. It made her miss the days when she was younger. She followed behind Ripley as the young girl ran over to Nell. She had been a bit surprised to see her here, but happy nonetheless. They didn’t get to see much of each other at the Academy, so anytime she could see her, Remy was happy. Remy let out a laugh as Ripley ran over to her, and said, “Fhanks Auntie Nell.
” The child wasn’t there for much longer. She had ran over to the swings, and began to swing. Remy was surprised the child had called over to her for a big push like she normally did. Remy smiled as Nell walked over, and hip bumped her. “ It really is a lovely day for the park. I think that’s why Ripley rushed me to get here,” Remy chuckled at the thought. The red head couldn’t help but laugh at Nell’s words. “ Only you would be able to break a kite, Nell,” Remy said, playfully punching Nell in the shoulder. Remy looked back over to the swings to make sure that Ripley was still there. When she looked over to the girl, Remy could see that she had made a friend. The boy was about Ripley’s age, maybe a few years older, but he looked adorable. His black hair curled, and his bright blue eyes shone when he laughed. He was pushing Ripley on the swings as best a little boy could do. Ripley seemed content with him trying, and Remy couldn’t help but smile at the sight. Remy followed Nell over to another set of swings, and sat down in one of them. She turned to answer her question, and said, “ I’ve been great. Busy with the little one, as usual.” Remy smiled at Nell. “ How have you been, love?” She asked her. Remy really had been missing Nell lately, and hated that they couldn’t enjoy each other’s company inside school, but she supposed it was better then them being hated by EVERYONE. A SONG OF PURE ROMANCE,
okay, so maybe nell died just a little when rip called her auntie nell. how could she help it? the little girl was just so cute, and she adored children as is. double whammy. at least she could now keep herself together where she used to incessantly fawn over the little things. well, she didn't have it completely together but she was a lot better in the self-control department where she wasn't scooping strange children up in her arms because she knew that parents didn't like it very much. she just wanted to hug and love them forever and ever. even the bratty ones that always cried. all children just got to her heart, and she didn't even think of why that might have been, she never dissected the reason behind her adoration of anything smaller than her. she didn't like dissecting things, anyway. she too often found things that she did not like when she investigated herself.
She laughed as Rems hip bumped her, holding her kite in front of her, still mourning its destruction. Of course she would be going back to the store and getting another. Or maybe an entire collection. "It's a lovely day in the neighborhood," she started to sing to Remy, and it would be unfortunate if Ripley didn't watch Mr. Rogers or if Remy hadn't watched it as a child either. Nell knew she watched too many kid's shows for someone her age, but she could not help her love for Dora the Explorer. There wasn't even a real reason behind it--she already knew Spanish, she just got over-excited whenever the cartoon came on.
Nell feigned an indignant look when Remy said that only she could break a kite. "Hey, not my fault that the wind decided it was just going to take a break in the middle of flying." She didn't know that it would be a good idea to run when that happened to keep it in the air. As clever as she could be, sometimes things just slipped her mind, and by the time the wind had stopped the toy was already descending and all she could cry was mayday, mayday. "When Rip is old enough, you should get her a kite and you two can see just how hard it is to keep it in the air." She wasn't about to deny the fact that it was fun, though. Of course not! And if it hadn't been fun, Nell was convinced she could make anything a good time. It was why she was never bored.
The Earth girl set the kite on the ground, slipping into one of the swing seats. Sometimes she didn't mind how small she was, and this would be one of the times. Her but still fit in the plastic curve of the swing. She listened as Remy spoke, and said after, "I want to babysit sometime so you can go out and have fun. Party it up, live life." Viva la vida and all that. Remy certainly needed some time for herself! She was sure that taking care of Ripley was gratifying, or maybe that was just her bias toward children in general. She returned the question and Nell said, "I've been swell. Spending a lot of time in the garden, but I don't think you could understand that." She rolled her eyes pompously, pointing out the fact the other girl was a Fire. She was sure there were Fires out there who enjoyed gardening, though, so it wasn't a true and honest to god sentiment. "You need to come over some time, too. I have a pig now. And well, an entire farm, but...." She loved inviting people over, she loved having people in her house. Of course she wouldn't be inviting anyone that Josh had issue with, because that seemed like a mean thing to do, but he and Rems were chill with each other.
