Alina was having one of those moments where she actually needed to be by herself. She had been around her classmates all day. She had hung out with Carson the day before. She hadn’t gotten much sleep for some reason. She thought it had to do with the moon. It had been rather full. Not that she was a werewolf or anything, but it always seemed to energize her and instead of being sleepy, she’d been feeling creative and in a songy mood. She had been singing a melody that came to her head all night, writing it down so she wouldn’t forget it, even recording it on her phone. No words yet, but now she could work on them. Now that she had a moment of time that no one would bother her. Normally she hated being alone, but at the same time, being around so many people at once had a way of making her feel fatigued and…just drained. So for the time being, Alina was going to take her day pretty slow, spend it on the grounds, with her ear buds in. It was kind of a universal language – or it should’ve been. When people had their headphones in, you knew to leave them alone. Mostly. It seemed like parents and grand parents were still getting that gist. Alina would have the buds in and Nana would continue to talk like Alina could actually still hear her. Old people were funny sometimes.
Smoothing her skirt, Alina walked out of her dorm. She had to live in the dorm – Nana lived too far away from the school for Alina to live with her. She decided it was probably better this way though. She didn’t have to worry about rides to school, and she could try to live on her own two feet for a bit. The school had dorms for a reason right? It was probably safer for Alina inside the school walls. From society AND her “mother”. She had people who cared about her here. That’s all that mattered. She could form a family anywhere. Alina fiddled with her earbuds a bit, fixing them into her ears. This week, her hair was just blonde. She hadn’t felt the need to make it any other color at the moment. She would probably dye it lilac when she felt like doing something else with it. She walked inside, just kind of roaming the halls, humming to herself as the sounds filled her ears, looking around a bit. And of course, she wasn’t even really paying attention to where she was going, seeing as how she wasn’t heading anywhere in particular. Just taking some time to herself. And this…led to her bumping right into someone as she turned a corner. And looking up to see who it was, Alina was instantly sorry. If she had ears, they’d be flattened to her head at the sight of the girl. ”Sorry…” She took a quick step back.[/blockquote]

Even though Altair hated most things about school, she did well enough in it. She thought about some of the homework that needed completing as she walked through the halls, straightening out the tank she had tucked into her shorts. Her grades in academic classes may argue otherwise, but she didn't worry about those at this point, not in her belief. She was majoring in elemental studies, that's was her major concern. Besides that, she did have a career. One in modeling that paid well. Her goal was to slowly climb the ladder of the industry, get into a position of power. The Fire graduate could be very influential, and the only place she felt comfortable being in was on top.
She walked from the building, intent on getting home. If Ro had gotten home yet, she would be staying but if not she had plans to go out. In any case, she didn't want to stay on campus much longer. Altair hated most people she encountered. While she could have an easy conversation with someone from her element if they kept their opinions to themselves, she had a low tolerance for humankind in general, got exasperated listening to some of her classmates talk, to the point she had to wonder why they even existed if not just to give her ulcers.
With thoughts of misanthropy in her head, it didn't help when she felt someone bump into her. "Really?" Her voice came out short and clipped, and she grabbed the offender by the arm, her grip firm so she could look at...her. It was a girl, with light blond hair close to the shade of her own. There was a pained expression on her face when she saw this child was wearing a tutu. "Oh, hun," she said, looking quite disgusted. She yanked the ear buds out of the stranger's ears and asked, "Who the fuck dressed you this morning, the crypt keeper?" She looked this girl dead in the eyes, her own as sharp as the heels of her stilettos. She could cut diamond with her gaze. "Now can you look when you walk?" she asked, leaning to the side a bit as if trying to seriously get an answer. "Can you do that?" It may have been pointless to be getting such an attitude with an innocent girl, but she had no patience. None whatsoever.

Of course, Alina never meant to hurt anyone. She spaced sometimes, and a lot of the time, when it concerned other people, that was actually better. People tended to find her instant, constant questions and her curious nature to be rather annoying, and they were actually happy when she shut up for a while. Not that her voice was annoying, or even what she was asking. It was the multitude of the words that came out of her mouth. Though what Alina experienced was never more than mild annoyance or little tries at people trying to get her to calm down. She even had someone play the quiet game with her like she was four years old. You know…the one where you can see who’s quieter for the longest, and then the other person just forgets they’re playing the game and then you’re stuck not being able to talk for the whole rest of the day. While other people might’ve broken it at that point, Alina took the rules kind of seriously for a while until she realized people were punking her. She wasn’t a big fan of being patronized, whatsoever. As much as she didn’t like being alone, she’d rather be alone than be around someone who picked on her and talked down to her all the time.
Speaking of which, it didn’t seem like Alina’s accidental bump into this person had made this person very happy. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Alina find her arm being grabbed, her attention ripped from her apology, looking up at the girl with wide eyes. Ok…this HAD to be a thunder or fire. Studying the girl a bit, Alina recoiled into herself just slightly. Fire. There was NO mistaking it. It didn’t seem like any amount of apologizing on Alina’s end was going to get her anywhere. This girl must’ve already been brooding before Alina ran harmlessly into her because her temper was unleashed, it seemed. Alina tried to pull her arm away gently, but the girl had a grip on it. What the hell? She didn’t think accidently bumping into someone could create such violence in another person! She watched as the girl’s face changed, her eyes widening almost in offense as the girl spoke. Alina knew that her style was eccentric and she liked unique things, but she had never heard someone insult it so openly. She’d heard those sour words like ‘different’ and ‘interesting’, but this one definitely took the cake. ”Hey, those are mine!” She pulled back her ear phones, yanking her arm out of the other girl’s hand, shooting her a glare. What…was this girl’s problem. ”I dressed myself. The crypt keeper is fond of ROBES. This isn’t a robe. And as far as I know, this is a free country, and we can dress however we want to. And I never asked for your opinion so maybe you should keep your rank observations to yourself.” Ooh, she was already getting quite worked up. She hadn’t been in such a good mood to begin with, but she HAD apologized. That was universal for ‘alright, let’s get past that and we both keep walking our separate ways. She met the girl’s gaze with a fierce one of her own, but she was a Wind. Wind could flip cars and start fucking tornados if the wanted to. AND put out fires. And spread them. The other girl needed to take notes. ”I wasn’t paying attention, I know, but I already apologized. You’re supposed to take the apology, not try and bruise someone’s arm.” She huffed, taking a big step back from the girl but her eyes narrowing at her, ”Don’t patronize me.”[/blockquote]

For Altair, she didn't have to be in a bad mood to be completely temperamental. It only took one little thing for her to fly off, and sometimes her rage didn't manifest in direct physical confrontation. Sometimes it took a little bit to get there. So this chick, whose only good attribute Altair could find so far was that she wasn't completely ugly, got very lucky that Altair's instant reaction was not to punch her in the face. Just a strong grip on her arm and a cutting glare in her direction. She'd once been Fire leader, directed the element known for violence and a pack-mentality. She shouldn't be fucked with. Even if this girl was completely innocent. Of course, she had to keep speaking. Altair might have smiled otherwise. Was this bitch for real? "Yeah no, I got that considering they were in your ears." This is why she couldn't get along with people. Too many little things infuriated her. At this point, this stranger's mere existence infuriated her.
No, she couldn't be for real because she managed to be a hypocrite in just two sentences. "You're really gonna come at me saying that you can dress however you want and then tell me to keep my opinions to myself." Altair damn near laughed. She really wanted to laugh, but she was more pissed than entertaining at that moment. Free country, I can say whatever the fuck I want." And she did. She didn't need this chick's permission to do or say anything. "And what I'm saying is your trying too hard." People only dressed like that when they needed attention. It breathed insecurity, a craving to get whatever kind of attention was out there. It looked pathetic, to say the least, and Altair did not spare anyone her judgments of them. If no one had ever told her that before, it was a damn shame.
And then Miss "Look at Me, I'm Wearing a Tutu" tried to convince her to apologize. The idea of that almost made her laugh. The worst thing to do in trying to get the Fire graduate to apologize was by telling her to apologize. She let go, but shoved her off, not being at all gentle about it. "Aww, is that what I'm supposed to do?" she said in response. "Consider yourself lucky. I can do much worse than bruise your arm, and if that hurts, then you need to work out or some shit." This chick didn't have an idea of what Altair could do. She was majoring in her element, she had power behind her words, and she didn't fuck around as she made very much clear. And it was easy to goad her into conflict. She lived for it, and there was nothing she enjoyed more than a fight. "Don't tell me what to do," she said, tilting her head to the side with an innocent look on her face. "Unless you want me to show you how bad I can get. I will stomp you." The amount of shade in that moment was astounding, and her threat was clearly not empty. Altair didn't make empty threats, because that was just ridiculous.

Alina wasn’t sure what was going on. How could one small physical confrontation suddenly turn into warding off harsh words and physical pain? Because yes, Alina was kind of a wimp, and Altair’s prickly little fingers digging into her fair skin KIND OF HURT. And the fact that Alina trying to pull her arm away made them dig into her muscles a bit more didn’t help. Alina was sure that the school wouldn’t condone any of Altair’s actions, but then again, the elements had apparently been to war against each to her before. Never the less, Alina’s element was NEUTRAL…so WHAT was this girl’s PROBLEM?! Alina huffed, sending a glare Altair’s way. ”Yes. MY ears. So DON’T touch something that doesn’t belong to you. INCLUDING ME.” Her personal bubble had been popped – and that said a lot, seeing as how Alina was mostly super affectionate and liked to give hugs to anyone who seemed to need one. This girl seemed like she needed one, but Alina was NOT going to offer her anything. ”Didn’t your parents teach you that messing with other people’s possessions was wrong? That and maybe don’t touch someone if they don’t want to be touched.” Alina wrapped her ear buds up a bit, sticking them in any available pocket she had. She didn’t want them to get ruined from anything else this rude girl would be doing. Oh, she knew where this girl was going with this. What Alina had said was NOT hypocritical. ”I didn’t say you weren’t allowed to have your opinions, I simply said I don’t wish to hear them. So keep them to yourself. If I wanted to know what you thought about my clothes and how I wore them, I’d ask you. But I don’t know you, so no…keep your two cents.” She shook her head a bit, almost stomping her foot. ”But you can’t grab onto someone and insult them! I could report you.” To the school. She didn’t quite know how elementals dealt with authorities, but she wasn’t going to go there for a slight altercation. Unless this girl kept getting on her nerves. ”I honestly don’t CARE what you’re saying. I’m not trying too hard. FYI, this is how I dress. I like this style. I MADE this tutu. I just like things that are fun. So get off my case.” Alina may have been insecure about some things, but she didn’t dress this way for attention. She’d always been drawn to weird things. She had shoes with teddy bears on them, she had a shirt made completely out of plastic. She didn’t take after Lady Gaga at all – she just liked to set her own style, and make her own statement. It wasn’t even really a statement, she just liked to be creative and see what kind of a response she got. This was a negative response, but Alina never took those in. No. She shut them out. Permanently. So far, all Alina could get from this was that Altair had something stuck up her ass. And that she kind of sounded like Alina’s mother. Alina didn’t like to make that connection. Being shoved, Alina squeaked, but her hands balled into a fist by her sides. ”I never said YOU had to apologize. I don’t ever want anyone to straight out LIE to me. I’m sure you don’t have a sympathetic bone in your body. I said you’re just supposed to accept MINE and walk away. But I suppose people like you CAN’T just walk away from things. You just have to make it ten times worse.” Alina’s eyes narrowed at the girl, ”Look, whatever your name is, I DON’T CARE. Just stop wasting your breath and poisoning my positive energy, you twit! I’ll stop telling YOU what to do when you stop telling ME what to do? Got it?” Alina rolled her eyes at this girl. She was over her. She flipped her hair behind her back, looking to the girl. ”Such a shame. A beautiful face DESTROYED by an UGLY personality and attitude. I’m surprised you can even look in the mirror without seeing black…everywhere.” Meaning auras, of course. All this was bringing Alina’s mood south, she needed to go. She didn’t care what the girl was “majoring in”, there was nothing here saying she had to stay. She turned her back on the girl and started to walk away.[/blockquote]

Altair's brow arched as the girl got quite upset about her little quip. Cute. She smiled a little as she brought up parents. "Not going to answer that since it's rhetorical, however I am going to say you touched me first, didn't you?" It sounded like the grade school tattle-tale, but honestly she just wanted to mess wit her. Altair didn't have the patience to react rationally to certain things, and why should she bother? Clearly this girl was some sort of ward-escapee who'd found her way out into the world. Or a primary schooler whose mental and emotional growth had been stunted at age five. Altair leaned toward the latter, though the former would be quite the interesting tale.
The ability for this girl to be a hypocrite all in one tyrade was pretty impressive. Amusing enough that Altair could hardly feel enraged. "Hmm...still pretty sure it's a free country and I can say what I want," she said casually. Which meant she could say whatever she wanted and feel very incredibly amuse with it. How could she be angry with someone who was just too funny. "Oh, you made the tutu. Pretty clear now why it looks like something puked up by a dog." In her mind, she was thinking of how anything Ro made could outshine this headcase's style. Tutus were meant for one purpose and that was dance. Anyone who wore one outside of dancing would also be the type to think herself unique and eccentric.
What did exasperate the Fire graduate was this girl's inability to listen. No, I don't have a sympathetic bone. Why should she have one? Not like people had ever done anything good for her. "Look at you, putting words into my mouth," she said, sounding like a proud mother. "Never said anything about apologizing to you, love." Her response had been in direct line with Alina thinking that she should be accepting her apology. But it was cute, how she thought that telling Altair that she was making things worse would cause her to stop. Just the opposite, actually. Because about the time she called her a 'twit', the Fire found it really difficult to keep herself from laughing. Especially when she rolled her eyes and flipped her hair back like she had just rightly served her. I'm going to crack a rib, she thought as she bit back laughter. "Wow, twit, you really dug deep for that insult," she said, finally able to regain her composure after she went on about blackness or some shit. "Really wish I could extend the compliment to your face. Lighten up on the eye shadow and maybe you'll stop looking like a two-cent hooker." There was nothing beautiful about this girl, not even personality. She was just a juvenile girl who couldn't handle someone not liking her.
When she started walking away, Altair smiled again and flicked her fingertips together, sending a small, pebbled shaped flame toward her back. "I'm Altair, by the way," she said. "When you bitch to a teacher about the girl who doesn't like you, you'll probably want a name." No doubt this girl would go on whining to an authority figure about the burn she would now have on her back. Everything about her smelled of cowardice.

Alina wasn’t the most eloquent of speakers. Sometimes she didn’t even really think before she spoke – she just spoke whatever came out of her heart. And sometimes that meant having to correct herself to make sure it came across the way she meant. And sometimes it got her into trouble. But the girl could barely focus on anything else, why did she have to monitor what she said as well? Miss Altair obviously didn’t. She felt she could just say ANY old thing to someone without having to apologize for the extent of the damage. Her eyes sparked a bit, almost growling, ”It wasn’t rhetorical. You’d think if your parents KNEW how you turned out, they would be apologizing to everyone for reproducing.” Oops. That one was an oops. That was really mean. Alina bit her lip, looking to the girl. She kind of felt like saying sorry because she had already stepped over the line enough, but she was NOT going to give this fire power over her. ”No, I did not DELIBERATELY touch you first. I ACCIDENTLY ran into you. And I said I was sorry for it. So you needn’t keep bringing it up.” She sighed as Altair was just being the most difficult person that Alina had ever met. Alina rubbed her face a bit, exasperated. She could be doing SO MUCH MORE with her time than standing here with someone who was just looking to pick a fight. The fact that Alina felt like Altair was just going to laugh at her pissed Alina off even more. She could take name calling, she could even take any kind of physical pain, but being insulted by being patronized was something she couldn’t STAND. She wasn’t a baby, she didn’t like when people necessarily treated her like so. And she definitely didn’t like when people DELIBTERATELY did it! Alina’s mouth dropped open slowly, looking down at her handiwork. She thought she did a good job. It had taken a long time to make it, layering two different colors of tulle together and lining things up and everything. Her fingers meshed into the fabric gently, almost like she was apologizing for Altair’s opinion to the fabric itself. Her eyes shot back up to Altair, ”At least…at least I…” Now she couldn’t even think of a comeback. She hadn’t really planned on having nothing more to say. Especially when that one had kind of hurt her feelings. But she was tough! She could take it! …Maybe. She frowned at the girl, ”I didn’t put words in your mouth, I was covering all the options, in case you were thinking that.” God, could this girl get any more annoying? She was just a bully, that’s all she was. And bullies were nothing more than a pebble under Alina’s tall shoes. She had put up with enough of them in elementary school, she was NOT going to be putting up with them through high school too. Especially since she was a senior and she wanted to leave the school scotch free. Alina could FEEL her temper flare as Altair started to laugh at her. It was like something bubbled up inside of her. It was getting really hard to keep herself under control. It was getting really hard for her to want to stand here any longer and TAKE this shit. For the rest of everything that Altair’s dirty mouth said, Alina stood there in silence and just watched her. Everything the girl said was kind of…well, it wasn’t true. And it hurt. But Alina had always been told to not add fuel to a fire, ironically. She would stand there until this girl ran out of ammo. And it seemed like she was. Hence Alina trying to walk away from the situation. OF course…before Altair crossed over boundaries again. Alina felt a sharp heat to her back, gasping and turning, her eyes wide, moving to use the slight breeze around her, adding force to push Altair back. Just a little. Just enough to have her lose her footing. To distract her so…Alina’s fist collided with some part of Altair’s face. Honestly, Alina hadn’t even realized she’d just hit the girl. She had once again acted before thinking…therefore resulting in her not knowing where she aimed. She tried not to look too surprised herself, before looking to the girl with narrowed eyes, ”Go be a conniving bitch somewhere else.” Wow…she had a lot of moxy today.[/blockquote]

Alina said if her parents knew how she turned out. "How do you know parents don't know me?" she asked, thinking it quite a presumptuous thing to assume. No that her words actually hurt Altair, no. She was impervious to most things in the emotional sense. Her temper may take control a lot, but that didn't mean she ever felt wounded by things that another human said to her. "But yeah, they probably would." Her parents may get on their knees and beg forgiveness of the universe. Ironic, considering she was a success, a model climbing her way to the top. Her parents hadn't approved of anything the girls did, however, anything their daughters did. In a surreal moment of clarity, she realized neither of them knew one of their daughters were dead. Darkly, she thought of how they didn't deserve to know. She wouldn't let them have any piece of her sisters, not even information of Syria's passing three years ago.
The girl right here, she didn't know any of that, however. All she saw was cold and cruel Altair, hair the color of snowstorms. Quite like her own. Altair, however, was much more callous. She was freezing. Altair liked to be accurate in her insults. They didn't work were they not accurate, so why halfass it? Like a child who didn't know better, she pinpointed exactly what someone else would be insecure about and used it against them. Alina seemed to really like fashion and creating fashion and therefore, Altair would target that. She had heat-seeking precision when it came to making someone feel shitty about themselves. Instead of responding to the insult, however, this girl instead claimed that she was covering her bases. "Okay. Sure." Altair sounded as incredulous as she felt. It could almost be considered adorable, how this child was flailing around to defend herself, scraping up rebuttals to defend herself.
So, Altair didn't think she would actually consider legitimately defending herself. Especially not after the little Fire bullet she had sent in her direction. But then the girl turned and hauled off at her, punching her in the face. Altair was quick to react, grabbing Alina's arm and twisting the girl around. "Good job, now I'm pissed," she said. And itching for a fight, which could only end badly for Alina. "By the way, might want to pull out the dictionary and check up on conniving." Because Altair was most definitely not conniving. She was straightforward and blunt in her methods. She did not manipulate, didn't feel the need to. Sending a rush of heat in the hand that gripped Alina's arm behind her back, she wondered just how she would react to what felt like pressing her body against a car on a stifling hot summer day.

Alina shook her head a bit, ”I’m sure they don’t. Because if they did, they wouldn’t like you. No one likes a bully. No one.” She had never met anyone who liked a bully. She realized a lot of the time that bullies had a reason they bullied, but Alina didn’t know Altair or her history. And you’d think if a person had been through a lot themselves, they wouldn’t want to put someone else through the same kind of crap. Of course, it threw Alina off guard a little bit when Altair agreed with her. Alright, it just seemed Alina’s hole that she was digging just kept getting deeper and deeper. She knew she should’ve just walked away, but she was a bit too prideful for that. That had to be the one thing she got from her own mother. Even if her own mother abandoned her and wanted nothing to do with her, she was as stubborn as anything. Though her mother’s stubbornness was more to get her own way, Alina’s stubbornness was caused mostly by people egging her on. When she knew she shouldn’t do something but wasn’t going to let the other person get the best of her. Or to let them assume they even got the best of her. Alina knew sometimes she was as see through as lace, but she could try to be candid if it meant not letting her enemies have the upperhand. And with that, here in this instance, she had failed. Because she had let Altair’s words hurt her. She was going to take offense with the fashion comment. Alina had nothing if it wasn’t for her ability to make things and set herself up for life that way. She wasn’t good at reading or math or any kind of school anything. She could sing but everyone nowadays could sing. She could write lyrics but she was sure no one would want to hear them. And she only knew so much with her element. Her handiwork was precious to her. And then to hear this girl go around and tear her work apart with her rudeness – it was a bit too much for Alina. So Alina had backed up maybe three steps on the playing board. It was getting too hot for her liking. And when she had spoken, it didn’t seem to stir Altair up anyway. And maybe that was why Alina hit her. She honestly didn’t know what had made her step so out of line. She didn’t know what the exact trigger was. But it had been a while since Alina had been met with such repulsion, and she was going to deal with it, here and now. And…of course. IN the wrong way. She was playing with fire. And she seemed to forget that. Without being able to even think of doing anything else, Alina’s arm was twisted behind her, breathing out sharply, glaring at Altair. ”And you weren’t before?” She almost growled, shaking her head as all Altair could do was go against every one of Alina’s remarks instead of making up her own. ”No…thanks. I think it fits you perfectly. I know exactly what it means.” She might not have been completely book smart, but she wasn’t illiterate. Alina was ready to send some kind of retaliation Altair’s way before heat shot up her arm, Alina yelping and struggling against Altair, kicking up into her thigh to send her stumbling back. She used the slight breeze from a window near by, bringing it up with her free hand and shooting it Altair’s way with a force so hard she would’ve fallen to her feet, clutching her other arm to her chest after a bit. ”Leave me alone.” It wasn’t quite as threatening as Alina wanted it, but she was done playing around. If Altair could play along with her element, so could Alina. And it was the breeze that blew out the candle, Altair needed to remember that.[/blockquote]

The Fire graduate blew air out of her nose in a half-laugh at how dramatic Alina was being with the emphasis of no one. "That's cute. A bully." It sounded like a primary school word to her. In Altair's mind, bullies only existed if the other person was not strong enough in character to be comfortable with any sort of discrimination and negative feedback. She was not a bully; this girl was just an insecure person and she couldn't be blamed for the fact that she got so easily offended. Despite her anger issues, her standoffish behavior, it took a lot more to get Altair truly offended. She was far too confident for that sort of thing.
And she knew she was much too powerful. In a way, she admired the girl's spirit. She had that much sense of mind, to respect other people (as much as they could) if they fought back and didn't take shit. As a matter of fact, it was more disappointing when someone didn't fight back against any assault. She remembered Nell and Deirdra, Earths who refused to fight back, even with words. Those encounters made her look down on the element. People who refused to stand up for themselves never got good marks in her books, but then again, not many people had good marks with her. Only two people outside of her sister did, and that was Rachael and Nick. This girl would never be on there, simply because Altair had already judged her within five seconds of them meeting. Once that judgment was decided, that was that. It had happened to Justin, and even after they slept with each other, her opinion never changed.
Altair smiled. For her, there was a difference between being angry and just being the unpleasant person she naturally was; she supposed this girl wouldn't recognize that. Not that she would give the girl any leeway. "Connive, to conspire secretly. Check yourself." Ooh, she always wanted to use that one and Alina gave her the perfect opportunity. In another surprising retaliation, the girl kicked at her and though she shifted, the Fire graduate only made it worse for herself, the blow connecting with her shin. She hissed out a breath momentarily distracted as Alina pulled away and summoned up a wind to blast her with. At the last moment, she whipped up the largest shield of fire she could, but the wind managed to break through and make her stumble back for a moment.
She smirked, though, when the girl told her to leave her alone. Orb of fire in hand, she said, "You started this, so I'm going to finish it for you." She moved her arm back, the orb morphing into a long whip-like stream of fire which Altair lashed at her with the next motion of her hand. Though Wind had a natural upperhand against Fire, Altair was not only older, but dogged. She stopped at nothing, and she'd faced against people much stronger than her that she never gave in to.
outfit.
they're outside, btw, so alina wouldn't need a window! and sorry 'bout altair being altair. xD

Alina was NOT trying to be dramatic, she was just kind of pissed off. And surprised! She’d never hit heads with someone this bad! She’d never been in a physical fight with anyone. The closest she had ever been in a fight was the one time with her mother. And you weren’t really supposed to fight with your mother. Her brows furrowed, looking to the girl, ”Bullies aren’t cute. Cute things aren’t mean. There are entire campaigns against bullies. It’s a big deal. It’s people like you picking on others who lead to things like suicide and cutting and all sorts of emotional wreckage because you don’t know how to leave other people alone.” It appeared to Alina that Altair didn’t seem to have any kind of common sense. Or knowledge. Or well, both really. Why would she WANT to be the bully? Why would anyone take the low route and become the villain when they actually had a choice? Alina wasn’t weak. She tried not to fight, she never liked tension or head on confrontations, but she wasn’t going to let this girl walk all over her. Or, in this case…throw fire all around her and continue to burn her. If Altair was going to fight dirty, Alina would use everything in her arsenal to protect herself. Even if that meant unleashing her power in her element to see what all she was capable of. Because she didn’t know all she was capable of. Though Altair, this girl. She seemed to have hers down to a science. The girl wasn’t even in college yet and it was like she just wanted to show off. Alina didn’t like show offs. She wasn’t one herself. Just because she was a very bright person didn’t mean she wanted attention. It just meant she knew what she liked. Alina was a girl who knew what she wanted, who knew what she deserved, and who knew how to make sure she could fend for herself. Though here, she might’ve bitten off more than she could chew. Altair wasn’t backing down. You’d think with Alina counterattacking all of Altair’s attacks, the girl would give up and walk away. Nope. Leave it to a fire to keep stoking the fighting flames. But that was okay. Alina would fight back. She wasn’t going to let Altair walk all over her. If she lost now, she’d lose for the rest of the year, every time she ran into the girl or saw her in the halls. She was going to defend herself and fight…well…to the death now, it looked like. It certainly looked as though Alina was going to die. Altair was full of malicious intent, and Alina was a bit done unwrapping this terrifying “present”. ”I know what it means. You’re BOTH. SO check YOURSELF.” Alright, she’d give herself that one. That wasn’t a good comeback. But she didn’t care. She was just glad she had gotten a good, solid hit in. Alina would have burns and bruises, but so would Altair. It would be even. Alina caught her breath a bit as Altair stumbled back. She was going to make sure she had enough strength to make every hit count. She was just glad it was kind of a breezy day or she would be up a creek without a paddle. And it seemed that Altair thought she had the win in the bag. Alina watched with wide eyes as the fire orb grew long, summoning up as much wind as she could get, whipping her hands around and starting them into two spiraling corkscrews. Feeling another heated pain move over her, Alina hissed, pushing forward with force and sending one spiral after another the fire’s way, gathering as much power from the wind as she knew how. She was wearing herself out, she could feel her energy draining, but she would keep it up until Altair left her the hell alone. ”Give up, Altair. You’ll just burn yourself.” She sent a flick of wind Altair’s way, making it so the flames she had around her hands shot back in Altair’s direction instead of towards Alina. ”Just call it even and we’ll settle the score. Back out now…” Alina kept her gaze steadily on Altair’s eyes, watching her every move.[/blockquote]

As a professor, Tom didn't have to deal with high school students. For that, he was thankful. They were rowdy and none too bright, and he had convinced himself that he was not at all biased for this fact. He'd been a teenager once; he knew what it was like. Too many hormones to handle, awkwardly trying to fit in with everyone else while figuring out who you were under breakouts of acne and peer pressure. He had never been a necessarily awkward teenager, however, he'd been too busy as a bad boy rebel. It was strange, how people changed. No one would have guessed how much of a dork he actually was back then, and that was exactly why he'd wanted it. Now, he had no problem with people knowing he was a dork, especially with how hard it was to avoid considering he taught Calculus. Never had a man been so passionate about numbers.
And because of this incredible bias, when he saw to young girls going at it as he walked outside he sighed at first. Not unexpected whatsoever. When the younger-looking girl blasted some wind toward another girl, he lifted his hand and negated it, the wind funneling and then disappearing completely. "All right, calm it you two," he said clearly, unamused. He saw the taller of the two turn on her heel and face him ferociously as if she would attack him before she seemed to think better of it. "Just give me the bloody detention," she said, and he blinked, looking between them.
"Okay," he said slowly, surprised that she expected such a thing. It must have been a usual. He reached into his back pocket and wrote up two pink slips for them. When he handed one to the shorter girl, he nodded and said, "You should go to the medical wing." He didn't have any lectures, didn't have time to waste for something that he knew would be pretty much non-effective. Plus, he really did not like talking to students on a standard basis. He waited for them to walk off before he left himself, at least making sure they wouldn't start going at it again in his absence.

Alina was fully set on finishing this herself. She could handle herself, she could take care of herself. She’d never needed anyone in her life to really take care of her, she could be independent and do things on her own. But when she felt her power over the wind cease, she could feel her heart start pounding in her chest, looking to the direction of the cross wind and seeing someone she’d never seen before, blinking and then she realized…he must be a teacher. She stopped, instantly moving to hide her hands under her arms a bit, pursing her lips as Altair quipped quite rudely to the adult in charge. Though when Altair spoke, Alina hadn’t expected to be handed a slip as well. She frowned, looking up at the man as he told her to go to the medical wing. ”Uhm…” She wanted to say it wasn’t fair, that it was simply self defense and she shouldn’t be getting in trouble, but she didn’t want to make a bad first impression…or get into even more trouble. So she sighed slowly, biting at her lip rather hard, feeling the sore and the pain start up but not showing it. She waited until she knew it was safe to turn her back on Altair before walking off slowly, just heading to her room. She’d take care of herself. And Altair…one of these days, they’d be even.[/blockquote] [This is pretty much done. Shall we start something else between someone else? XD]
